A few weekends ago, I brought in three vehicles to get smog checked at Green Smog. The location is tucked away and behind two car wash locations. Each job was handled quickly and without any issues. One of our vehicles needed a Star Center smog check. This business is a Star Center. Turn time for each job was only a few minutes. Had to replace an evap hose on one vehicle. The service tech told me what I needed and where to get it. Replaced the hose and back for retest within 15 min. Easy, quick and professional. Quick service even for a busy Saturday at noon with a few cars ahead of me. My car is a 1999 so it's more labor intensive to smog. Other local places don't even offer older car smog. Nope. Don't bring your older vehicles here! Went here to get my 1995 Jeep Wrangler smogged as I did about a year ago from this same exact place. Had no issues the last time I brought my Jeep here but this time, I had issues. I handed over my DMV paperwork and the older gentleman moved the car into the area to get to work. He first went under the Jeep looking for something and then came back to us and said it's an automatic fail because we didn't have numbers on our catalytic converter. I said is this a new law? Because I came here a year ago and passed no problem and I haven't done anything to the Jeep. He said it wasn't and gave me some random paperwork with numbers on it. I was like okay and then was going to walk away when he offered to continue to see if it would pass. I said that would be great because I'm worried it isn't. He ran some more tests and said it was going to fail for the low speed test or something. I said okay great, thanks for doing that. He didn't record anything with the DMV so it didn't show a fail and I was thankful for that. Went home and did some research and bought new injectors and some other things..$400 later. Went to another place because I figured Green Smog wouldn't pass me because I didn't have that number on my catalytic converter or whatever so went somewhere else and passed no problem. The other smog place said whatever we upgraded wouldn't have made a difference for the smog test so not sure if we were scammed out of replacing things that didn't need it or just doing the wrong research. Also no issues with the number thing either. Anyways. Won't be back. I found my new smog place somewhere else. read more
