I ordered a macaroon as well and quickly released it was store bought and was a little stale, which was disappointing. This Place is really a hidden Gem. The Food is amazingg and Prepared on the spot. Super healthy ingredients. The Egg waffle was truly delicious, For $8 your choice of like 4/5 different toppings. The fruit is fresh and nicely cut, the slushy drinks (I had the passionfruit one) are on pointtttt for a summer day or as a refresher. I had a BLAT Sandwich, the slushy and an Egg Waffle for dessert and my check was like $15-18 which is great. I live in the neighborhood and was really hopeful that The Spot would be a go-to spot. It's certainly not a bad place to do some laptop work, but there are some strange things about it, the least of which is the fact that the owner(s) are always lurking around. At times, they're helpful and serve customers but most often they're sitting in the cafe just looking around awkwardly or doing paperwork. Pros: -it's a cafe on the eastern side of Ridgewood without much competition -the fresh-squeezed OJ is awesome -strong, reliable wifi signal Cons: -management casts a strange specter and do not seem to get along with the staff, which is constantly turning over. I don't think I've seen the same barista in the the last 6 weeks. which sheds light on the inconsistent service and food/drink prep -food prep concerns: they rarely seem to wear gloves and don't seem to wash their hands before preparing sandwiches and bagels...yuck. -owners are often outside smoking and the front door is kept open, which makes for an unpleasant experience in the cafe. -there are a host of regulars that camp out -- taking over huge tables and holding court. -the menu changes often, like they're making it up as they go along. All in all, it's a pretty solid place to work if you have low expectations about the food and coffee quality and can deal with the array of weirdos (owners and regulars) that hang around. read more

If I lived in the area I this might be my main coffee shop. I sat in here for several hours (on a Friday afternoon) and never felt crowded out or rushed. They do mean the 6:30am-10:00pm and take is seriously too as they are open even during the holidays! Really appreciate the lively atmosphere and the kind staff. I don't yelp much, but when I see a new neighborhood stalwart change hands so poorly I can't remain silent. The new management here does not know anything about what they're doing. 3 weeks ago I came into the spot to pick up my usual, a bagel and cold brew coffee - the management were the only ones working behind the counter, and needed me to locate the coffee for them, as well as the bagels. The gentleman behind the counter then proceeded to start up the panini press and attempt to cook the bagel whole - I informed him that it was to be sliced in half and toasted (yes this is a cardinal sin, but the bagels were always decent, but not a true bagel that did not need to be toasted). They then spent the next 5 minutes locating the cream cheese, locating the knife, only to inform me that they do not accept credit card (I do think this has since been corrected). I left, and was not intending to return for another few weeks. Last night I gave them another chance - I came in and to my delight, one of my people who works there was behind the counter, but he was despondent and understated, and mentioned that "the new owner was sitting right behind me" when I asked him about the changes. This interaction was frayed and did not give me the same comfort of this once friendly neighborhood coffee shop. The owner was watching me and my friend intently as we chatted with the man behind the counter while we picked up our coffee. It also turns out two of my other favorite baristas are no longer with The Spot. I'm not sure what possessed these new owners to chase off two of the friendliest faces who have been around since this place opened, but between the obvious joylessness that the employees now have, and the general clutter of how the place is being ran, it's trending downward. There are many decent cafes in the area - The Spot will no longer have my patronage, and I do not recommend that you go there as well. If I could give 0 stars I would - this place was once worthy of its 4.5 - 5 star rating. read more

The environment is cozy and may be a bit dark. Not that great for studying sometimes unless you sit near a window. But generally very comfortable. I used to love their hot chocolate cause it was made with nutella and it was very hot. I used to come just for the hot chocolate... This place has potential. The space is nice but the decor is sparse and boring. They need to adopt a more vegetarian friendly menu and I guarantee they will make more of a profit.
