My husband and I found GreenStreet when we were looking for a contractor to install a solar attic fan. The initial price quote we received was 5-10x the other contractors - but included a full house energy saving system. My husband and I were skeptical, but asked the auditor, Lee, to come out to our house and quote the job. Lee did a walkthrough of the house and checked for opportunities - vents leaking air, sunny windows, improvements in the attic, etc. He used a gun to measure the heat gain between our AC unit and our vents. He broke down the customized package to show how much we would save on each component, and used a heat lamp to demonstrate how well the radiant heat barrier and window films blocked heat transfer. When Lee walked through the numbers, and showed how the monthly savings would exceed the payments for the project, the path forward was clear. When all is said and done, the system will pay for itself within 3-4 years. Carl was our lead installer. He and his team were very professional - arriving on time, and performing quick, quality work. They installed our attic fan the day after signing the contract. The rest of the improvements were completed within a week. GreenStreet also completed all of our paperwork for tax credits - a nice bonus. The only part of the experience that could be improved upon was the financing. The financing process was not explained well / was a bit unclear. It required some additional discussion with the GreenStreet office staff. I provided this feedback to GreenStreet, and I know it is something they are looking to improve in the future. Greenstreet performed an energy audit of our home (about 15-20 minutes), then met with us to discuss options on how we could make our home more efficient with a simple cost benefit analysis for each proposed upgrade. We chose to have most of the recommended upgrades performed, which included solar attic fans, radiant barrier in the attic, duct sealing, an increase to all existing insulation with more blown-in insulation throughout the attic, and solar tinting (barely a difference in physical darkness) on a few of our windows. Once we chose what we wanted, Greenstreet set up a time for the work to be done, and a crew of 2 did most of the work in our case. Our attic had a ton of difficult framing to work around, but the guys did a great job and finished in about a day and a half (we have 2 separate attic spaces). They also took care of our carpet and entryways by laying down dropcloths while they were working, and vacuumed up insulation once they were done. We were able to set up interest-free financing for the upgrades, and now I feel like our house can better withstand the intense Texas summers with less strain on our A/C units! I know we'll see our electric usage go down next summer, as I've already felt a huge difference when visiting the attic. It's cooler on hot days, and warmer on cold days! read more

My husband wanted to change all the windows (27) of the house to save on our electricity bill, when I came across this company. Greenstreet showed us a way to keep our home cooler at about half of the price we originally wanted to spend. The house assessment was impressive. We went with the assessors to see what flaws they found. Then, we gathered at the table for a detailed explanation of the assessment and the products greenstreet has to offer. I wasn't convinced in the beginning; but when I saw the heat reduction right in front of my eyes, I couldn't resist! They know what they are talking about and explain everything in a detailed everyday language. The employees where very respectful and on time. One of them came to work the day before! But they compensated the mistake by personally calling me and making sure I was ok and that the original date fit my schedule. They really work around your availability. When the job was done, the house was clean and they gave me a tour on the new improved areas. I have yet to get my summer bill; but the house already feels cooler! I highly recommend an assessment. What a great company. Were so happy with their work. They installed 2 solar attic fans, a radiant barrier and increased insulation in the attic as well as an attic tent over the pull down stairway. They were very professional. They arrived on time, went right to work and worked until the job were done in the time they said it would be. They cleaned up after themselves. We didn't have to do a thing. The young man who did our energy audit was very helpful. He explained what we needed and how much it would cost. He told us we would qualify for a tax rebate which made the job more affordable. The men who did the work were very polite and hard working. Now we are looking forward to lower utility bills and a longer life for our air conditioner as it won't have to work so hard. We are on balanced billing so it will be awhile before we see our savings but I have noticed that the air conditioner runs less on warm days and the furnace less on cold days. We have tried to make our house as energy efficient as possible and am so pleased that we discovered Green Street Energy to help us accomplish this goal. I had Green Street come by and install a number of upgrades to my home (built in 1971): solar attic fans, soffit vents, radiant barrier, increased insulation (from R12 to R38), and solar film on the windows. The energy consultant, Lee, who visited my house to determine what upgrades would be most helpful, was very professional and did an excellent job describing the function and benefits of each upgrade. From the the time Carl, the project manager, showed up at my house to the time the work was complete was a quick 4 hours. Carl was excellent at managing the 3 work crews and seeing that everything went smoothly. After the work was finished, Green Street filled out and submitted all the warranty paperwork and provided me with a filled out Form 5695 for my tax rebate (covering nearly 30% of the cost). In the month since the installation, my electricity bill decreased by 21% despite the fact that the weather got hotter. We were looking for a solution to cool hot spots in our home. The 3,400 square foot 1960's home was completely remodeled with new windows, doors, insulation, and siding in 2010. We had the HVAC system rehauled at that time too. Unfortunately, the master suite and south facing second floor rooms got so warm during the day it was uncomfortable to go to bed in the evening. We were thrilled to have GreenStreet radiant barrier and solar fans installed in both attics. I immediately noticed the hot spots were at the same temp as the rest of the house. Lee was our auditor and did a great job of showing us where we could improve the efficiency of our house. With the use of the inferred temperature gun we were able to see where all of the cool air was being lost. We had a number of things done to our home, radiant barring, the solar attic fan, additional blown in insulation, window tint to block the harsh heat but still allowing for natural sun shine. Carl and his team were great to work with and kept the home nice and clean. They worked fast but with great precision and quality. They were in and out of the house in less than 8 hrs. Green Street did our energy audit and explain us, without any pressure, the different ways to optimize home energy savings taking advantage of federal tax rebates. We chose the upgrades we wanted and they were done very quick. They installed radiant barrier, a solar fan, add insulation in the attic and garage doors, and install the state of the art solar films in the windows at the west side of the house. The solar film contractor was outstanding and the insulation contractor very clean. When we had some complains about the work done in the attics, they were fixed fast. First came the solar fan that would work to clear two different attics. Then came the insulation and radiant barrier. We surprised them with 3 attics, but they were able to handle them. I recently had Greenstreet install a solar fan, radiant barrier and R48 insulation in my attic. They were prompt and completed the entire service within one day, as projected. Film was also installed on east facing windows and doors to reduce the heat level from the sunlight. I was made aware of risks and ensured if anything were to go wrong, because of the attic work, that they would make sure to take care of everything.
