On 9/9/2024 I was injured during a massage at Sports Performance Physical Therapy in Chula Vista…read more The LMT had her elbow in the intercostal space of my left anterior chest when I suddenly felt an incredible amount of sharp, stabbing pain. I cried out and requested that she remove her elbow from my chest. The pain in my left chest was excruciating. I was unable to use my left arm without experiencing an enormous amount of pain. Even breathing was painful. Coughing and sneezing were unbearable. When I woke up the next morning, the pain was severe. Based on my symptoms, I was afraid I had a rib fracture. I contacted Cristianah Comaduran, Operations Manager of Sports Performance to notify her of the injury. She spoke with the LMT, who verified what happened. We stayed in contact over the next several weeks. I informed her that I would be filing a claim with their liability insurance and would contact her once I was completely asymptomatic. For the next two weeks, the pain was severe. I was unable to work, do household chores, and help my 4 year son with the things he needed, like getting dressed, bathing, basic ADLs. I filed a short term disability claim through my employer (I'm an ICU nurse). The stipulation for payment is that the first two weeks are unpaid, and then 60% of earnings are paid. This was a great financial burden for my family. The consequences of this injury were costly with low income for the months of October and November. My pain continued to improve until I caught an upper respiratory infection (URI) that caused continuous coughing. The pain was back and it was severe. Each cough and sneeze was excruciating. Once the URI resolved, my pain improved. For two months, the pain and suffering was debilitating, not allowing me to work, exercise, take care of the household, and most importantly, my son. It caused sleepless nights because the pain medication I was prescribed did little to relieve my symptoms, which lead to chronic exhaustion. The findings of my MRI on 11/14/24, which was two months after the injury, showed asymmetric edema at the level of the left third sternocostal joint. Two months after the injury, I still had abnormal results which were consistent with my symptoms. My thoracic spine MRI from 2022 showed none of these injuries. My PCP's impression was that there was a sprain of costal cartilage subsequent encounter. He determined it was costal-sternal joint strain vs developing costochrondritis. Along with pain and suffering, I experienced anxiety and distress due to financial strain. The injury resulted in thousands of dollars of missed wages. In addition, I was unable to accrue paid time off and contribute to my pension and retirement fund. This set me back two months from being vested at work. When I returned to work, I had very little sick or vacation time due to the inability to accrue paid time off (PTO). In January of 2025, I called out sick for 3 shifts (36 hours) when I was sick with the flu. I did not have enough sick time to cover the hours missed. I also received a double occurrence for my absence, which was not cleared from my record until January of 2026. It was worrisome that despite returning to work, the effects of this injury continued to be a financial burden and was affecting my performance review at work. This incident has also resulted in out of pocket costs, such as co-pays and pharmaceuticals, not to mention I was never reimbursed for the massage that started it all!! Perhaps worse than everything, I had to borrow money from my parents, so there's an element of shame in addition to the pain, suffering, and distress. This injury has been costly in terms of lost wages/PTO accrual and out of pocket expenses, not to mention inability to contribute to retirement and inch closer to being vested at my place of employment. I submitted an incredible amount of documents to Sports Performance in attempt to file a claim against their liability insurance. They were extremely difficult to work with and despite my repeated efforts to present all documents they requested, my claim was denied. Total cost for lost wages and out of pocket costs: $20,224.09. Because of this massage, I experienced pain, suffering, chronic exhaustion due to insomnia, anxiety, distress, and shame...and I didn't even get a fucking apology.

After a year of dealing with back, hip and leg pain and getting nowhere with other PTs, I bit the…read morebullet and made an appointment with this place after seeing the stellar reviews. I had just experienced another flareup and was feeling desperate. They were able to get me in to see Dr. Shane quickly, and when I tell you that I felt like I was with a miracle worker. We went through several motions during the intro session, and he was able to diagnosis my issue (piriformis syndrome and tight hips). He performed cupping and massage, and he was able to loosen up my stubborn hips. He then had me perform some PT exercises, and I IMMEDIATELY felt relief. I honestly couldn't believe it. I thought the relief would go away after a few hours, but it stayed for a few days. I've worked him for about 6 sessions now, and I've felt drastic improvements. He tailors the training session to my problem areas, and he doesn't increase my load too quickly, to make sure I don't reinjure myself (which had been happening before). It's a bit pricy, but it's honestly been a lifesaver for me. Would recommend to anyone!

Casey was pretty knowledgeable and I got some insight on my condition during my first appointment…read more I had a lower back/hip pull later that week on a Friday night so I called their number recording and emailed my PT about cancelling my Monday 2:00 PM appointment. I got a call back on Monday morning letting me know that I would be charged $99 for not giving them 24 working day notice (their initial paperwork also stated this policy so I knew about it). The person also asked me if I wanted to appeal that fee. I told her no and asked her to cancel my last two appointments. I would have expected the person calling to ask me what my mitigating circumstances were (although I mentioned them in my voice mail) rather than state I was being charged for the not canceling sooner. All in all - if I ever need physical therapy I would never consider a company that did not value me over their cancelation policy epically since they had all Monday morning to attempt to fill that slot. I also learned from the PT that he was really busy at that location. I'm giving two stars since I got some value from the PT but removing three stars since the business is not run very well in my opinion.

Amazing place for PT! I spent about about 2-3 months attending physical therapy with DPT Noora…read more During that time we spent time assessing and properly diagnosing the source of my back pain. After that Noora used different techniques of treatment such as deep tissues massages, mobility and strengthening exercises, and she even gave me print-outs of exercises I should be doing at home. Thank you Noora and thank you Rise!

I came in because my…read morepartner was receiving care and thought I might be able to get some help for some issues I was having with my shoulder. I had previously dislocated it years prior and was suffering from persisting issues due to this. I signed up for a yearly plan that offered the ability to come in as much as needed. Which sounded like a very good deal at the time. The first visit he popped my back and cracked my neck... I have to say I actually felt taller after the visit. From this point though I felt a decline in the thoroughness and quality of service. I was satisfied and I had given the place a positive review, but when i tried to cancel my plan because of his long lunch break, and frequent vacations the experience further diminished. Due to work and other responsibilities I was unable to come in during the small window for care and when I did I felt unattended to. I called in to cancel my service, but billing continued. This became a point of disagreement as to when my plan was cancelled. I physically had to come in to suspend service. We argued over the cancellation costs and eventually reached a mid ground. At this time he cited my previously positively toned review on yelp with almost anger implying I was in the wrong. He cited I was the problem after boasting about how many hours a day he "works" and how its not his fault I can't make it in during his hours. Curry gladly took my money and paid no heed to my original complaint. My shoulder was nothing more that a foot note in a brief examination with little diagnostics. Education also was a minor portion of visits.

He wasn't able to see us until the afternoon but said if I couldn't find anyone until then he would get my husband in. He took my name and said he would call me back. Well, while he was very helpful, I hardly expected him to call me back -but he most certainly did. Unfortunately we weren't able to wait and I got my husband into someone else that morning. He said no problem, he was glad we got the help we needed right away. For me, there is something to be said for down right good customer service and we will most definitely be using Dr Curry for any and all of our chiropractic needs.
