After 30 years of home ownership, I can say that I have never dealt with anyone who is more unprofessional and I would even say unethical. I have used her services, which I have always considered to be overpriced, as long as I have only because of the lack of gardening/landscaping services on the island - but no more. Run, don't walk from Buttercup Design Group and Vicky Cardaro. Last year, she charged a $200 consultation fee because she noticed a failing tree in my yard and texted the tree service, a task which perhaps took several minutes. In addition, she designed and installed a parking area without ever asking me how many cars the area needed to accommodate. When I complained that the area was too small to provide parking and turn around space for 4 cars, she blamed me for not telling her that I needed space for 4 cars and told me that she planned the space for only two cars because "I've only ever seen two cars in front of your house". This spring she charged me $1800 for a spring cleanup (without my prior approval), an 80% increase from last year's exhorbitant price of $1000, I have a small property with a row of shrubs in the front of the house and another along the back deck and she claimed that it took 30 hours of labor to prune the bushes and weed the beds. She did not provide me with an estimate for the season's service (as all other landscapers I have ever used have done on an annual basis) nor did she advise me of the expected increase, which I would not have authorized. When I balked and told her that I would pay her the same as the previous year, she threatened to put a lien on my property - nothing short of extortion. I am paying the bill only because I do not want to spend one second of my time and energy dealing with her but I urge you to avoid this business like the plague.
