It would be really nice if these guys published their recycling rates their website. 15 bucks to recycle a $50 printer is a bit much.

These guys are great! They come to the building I work in a handful of times a year to collect eCycled items from all the tenants. Easiest recycling ever! My poor Sony saw its last days.... conveniently 2 months after the warranty expired Knew this wasn't a job for the street faeries ( since I wouldn't knowingly pass along a broken tv ); and definitely not something I would just throw into a landfill to pollute our dear Mother Earth Green Citizen to the rescue! Easy to find & was actually just as much driving time to this location as it would have been to schlep across town - so for less traffic & guaranteed parking, this was a no-brainer! Super easy to drop off - walk into the store, enter a few tidbits on their computers & presto changeo, I've disposed of my broken tv and protected our environment! Best of all.....the price to get rid of my tv? Nada - it was FREE!!! These guys recycle all your electronic wares from computers to tvs to DVD players, CDs & DVDs, even batteries. Costs are extremely nominal & in most cases free..... definitely worth it!!! read more

Awesome environmental conservation company helping to keep our landfills free of e-waste & non-biodegradable plastics. Needed to recycle two broken flatscreen televisions and two huge bags of styrofoam. GreenCitizen's website was easy to navigate, clear as to what items they are able to take, and upfront about any fees on certain items. Drop-off was made easy by filling-out the online form prior to my visit. Staff was extremely helpful, attentive, and friendly. Fee for the amount of styrofoam I brought was very reasonable & well worth it knowing it will be recycled & repurposed. Fees for "non-free items" are far more reasonable than the green line station! Isn't the idea behind a shred center that they dispose of documents so nobody can see them? I dropped by this morning and handed them $10 to shred a box of docs. Next I was asked to fill out a form with my personal information (not sure why). Then I was told I would get a email in several days telling me my docs had been shred. I asked about the impressive shredding machine in the next room and was told they didn't use it. I took my ten back and drove my box down to San Mateo where they pulverize the docs in front of your eyes for $6. What the hell. You shred docs....then shred them. read more

Much easier than I thought! I actually live in SF, but opted for going to this location since I was going to be in the peninsula anyways. My husband have been to the one in SF and said it was impossible to find parking. When I got to this location, I just pulled into the parking lot, the staff actually came out with a cart to help me =). I just had some old computer parts, a printer, so there was no charge. I had 2 tube tvs to get rid, I goggled and Green Citizen came up, so we loaded up and off we went. Tom the account manager came out quickly to help us unload, he was super friendly and helpful, everybody there also seem friendly. I told Tom my brother had a bunch of electronics to purge from a friend unloading all stuff to him, Tom informed they might be able to pick up if items qualify! Super! I'm glad I find Green Citizen!! I had all sorts of computers and old electronics that I had to throw out, but I didn't want it landing at some dump. I checked Yelp and the company Green Citizen came up. I decided to go with their Burlingame location since driving up to SF is a hassle. These guys take everything electronic, even some old cables that don't function anymore. They charged me just $10 for an old monitor and $4/lb for the bags of broken gadgets I gave out. Best part is they're next to Benihana and Max's restaurant off of 101. Very nice people and highly recommended! read more

I'm so glad this place exists. I have hundreds of CD-Rs and DVD-Rs worth of data. Data that I have no desire to access/look at again. I also had tons of jewel cases housing said media. What could I do with them? Sure I could trash them, but trashing so many discs made me feel a little ill. Enter Green Citizen. They are able to take them off my hands for recycling... for FREE! Just FYI, jewel cases cannot be dumped into regular recycling bins as they are a special type of plastic. I was told that they are able to offer free drop off as they make most of their money through pickups they do for businesses. I just learned that the Burlingame Green Citizen also takes floppy disks. Want to feel good about yourself? Gather up all of the electronic cords, chargers, adapters, devices and the CDs and DVDs that you no longer listen to or watch, that you are never going to use again, and that someone else will have to deal with after you die, and when they do, they will probably will just pour them into the landfill, and bring them here. The employee was a young man who was friendly and helpful. Fees were fair for the amount of stuff I was getting rid of and I was in and out without any stress. I've been to GreenCitizen multiple times. The pros: They recycle styrofoam (for a small fee) -- one of the few places on the peninsula that does this. Almost any electronic you can think of (old laptops, cables, monitors, hard drives, etc.) is recycled for free. The staff is super friendly and helpful. As an Ebay seller, GreenCitizen is one of the best around. I had some troubles with a purchase but their stellar customer support came to the rescue. One of the used devices I had purchased had a corporate remote management system that wasn't easily disabled without intervention on part of the original corporate owner. I was scared getting this fixed would be a slow and bureaucratic process, but GreenCitizen's support happily and swiftly came to my aid. They asked me a few questions related to the device I purchased, and on the same day managed to get the device unlocked by the prior corporate owner.
