I deeply appreciate Green Citizen and the effort they put in to responsibly recycle and dispose of so many items that would otherwise be toxic waste in landfills. Green Citizen is a collecting point and a recycling center for all kinds of stuff. My favorite is recycling styrofoam or other packaging materials. Technically, you could use your black trash bin to throw these away. However, if you're a bit smarter and aware of the sustainable approach to consuming goods, you will make the trip and recycle these items. Green Citizen accepts a variety of items at a low prices. Additionally, their menu of accepted items grows every year. Recently, they started to take bubble wrap. This is just great! When I bring styrofoam, typically they count it by the number of bags. Recently they introduced some details on the bag volume, but it changes, so call them to find out new details! A lot of young passionate people work here. They care about the planet, they provide a great service at the easy to get to location. I wish more services like this were available. Great job Green Citizen! read more

They make it quick and convenient with an online form to complete before you arrive to avoid the need to fill-out when on-site. It is VERY difficult to find a place locally that can do ewaste and styrofoam recycling. Ridwell has a limited amount of items you can recycle, but what if you don't need a subscription service? I've used GreenCitizen a few times already to recycle styrofoam and it's been a really easy process. Each bag (I've used large trash bags and filled them with styrofoam) is $5 to recycle and priceless to keep this stuff out of the landfill. Styrofoam takes 500 years to decompose! Their location is generally easy to find? They're almost on the corner of Cowan Road and Old Bayshore Hwy. Once you turn onto Cowan Road, there's a large chainlink fence and a driveway to GreenCitizen. It's likely kind of squishy if you're driving a large vehicle like an suv. Representatives working there are always kind and helpful. GreenCitizen is a beautiful resource in the Bay Area! read more

Company is a FRAUD sold us a Mcbook for $350.00 with a damaged battery and no charger. Took it to Apple center. The Mcbook price is $195 and charge is $90.00 the battery is $249. After my LCD TV started crapping out on me, it was just time to let go and face the fact that I needed to buy a new TV after 7 years. I could've just taken it to Recology (SF Dump) and have it thrown in with the rest of the garbage that will become landfill, but there are a few recycling centers in the Bay Area that makes sure your electronics get recycled, and Green Citizen was among one of them. I drove down to their Berlingame facility, and the process was easy. Just filled out an online form and drove the TV down to drop it off. And they took it for free. The 2 staff I encountered were both really friendly and helpful during the dropoff. I would hope more people will recycle their electronics than let it go to the landfill. Green Citizen is definitely a place to keep in mind. They took my TV for free (and they take other electronics for free as well). read more

They were awesome. I was helping clean my mother in laws garage out. There was one tv that was literally falling apart. No problem here. We dropped off a couple tvs, a monitor, coffee machine, an old speaker, all for around 11 dollars. We rounded up to $15 to help them continue their excellent recycling service. I dropped off lots of old cables, wiring, old cell phones, old laptops, and a little styrofoam. They will dispose of everything in a responsible manner, which is a relief. The laptops and phones will get erased for me. The payment is very clear ($1 per pound of material). Ya know, originally I wasn't too keen on paying for donation/recycle but this is one of the only places in the Bay to recycle CDs and DVDs along with the cases. And I have to say it wasn't that bad. You pay $1 for 1 pound of the cds. So if you can remove any extra paper inside the cases do so. Cool spot, easy, quick and reliable as hell. I like the fact they take styrofoam too. Which is awesome, I live in Oakland, so it's kind of a far drive but we'll worth it now that they took 30 lbs of CDs from old DVDs to old computer CDs off my hands to recycle. Great job. Returning. Only I wish they recycle clothes and stuff too. read more

I know when I take e-waste and styrofoam to GreenCitizen, that it will be recycled, not just sent down the line to end up in a landfill. They take items that other sites would reject.
