Scary place with weird menu and sloppy servers. Chili dog has no hot dog and a bowl of stew meat was gray.

The waitress has a hard time finding our table she walked around at two different times look for our number and when she found our table she I'm sorry those numbers are hard to find. I think the numbers should be taller so the wait staff can see them. Anyway the food was good and tasty. But the falafel bowl is kinda dry and the tzatziki sauce tastes like sour cream. It come out of plastic container. I added Greek dressing to my falafel bowl. It was better. ( please work on the falafel bowl no one likes a dry bowl) My friends had gotten the Hot Mother Clucker is was so delicious . The nitty gritty bowl my friend says it was good but there were burnt flakes in it she wasn't sure what that was. Pearl Sugar Waffles were good by way to sweet. The "Big fatty "breakfast burrito was very small and thin for $12.00 not worth the price but it was delicious. I know this is a small town and heard this was a great place to eat. So we decide to try it out. Needs a little tweaking between the servers. Free water cups are 4oz , they should actually have clear plastic water cups that are a little larger. It would've also been nice to have a pitcher of water or something over by the tea. So you could fill up your own glass. When the Resturant is busy you had to wait to ask for a refill by then your food is cold. This place could be good if tweaked. If you're not sure about my review check it out yourselves. Good luck.

Every time we visit, the staff is incredibly kind, polite, and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. One of my favorite things about Pie Safe is the history behind the location. The building was originally a bank over 100 years ago, and the original safe is still right in the center of the space on display! I love how they incorporated that piece of history into the name "Pie Safe"--it gives the place so much character. Amazing desserts, wonderful people, and such a neat atmosphere. Definitely one of our favorite places to visit in our hometown!

We'll and its not cheap, when you pay $24 for shrimp and grits you dont expect to have to season it at the table and mash the chalky lumps out with your fork. Maybe I'm just not a southern gal, but pulling the heads off my shrimp and getting one too many little tentacles thingies stuck in my teeth sort of took the shine off. The fried green tomatoes look pretty, the batter tastes of absolutely nothing; all the flavors in the sauce. We had a nice time though and I'll always give local businesses a go over the faceless big box. Maybe someone will read this and give the chef back his salt?

The food? Spectacular. Every plate that came out looked like it had been handcrafted by angels who apprenticed in a BBQ smokehouse. The portions were the perfect mix of generous and "you're definitely taking leftovers home and happily eating them cold at midnight." And the flavors? Mercy. One bite in and you're suddenly questioning why you ever wasted calories anywhere else. The staff deserves special mention (Jada) friendly, hilarious, and quicker than a hummingbird after a double espresso. They made the whole meal feel like a celebration, even though all we celebrated was how fast we could inhale dinner. Whether you're craving hearty home cooking, a place to laugh with friends, or just a restaurant with a name that's as fun to say as it is to eat at, Hoot Nannie absolutely delivers. Five stars, two thumbs up, and one very happy, very full customer.

This little bbq joint is dishing out some great food at ridiculously low prices - it's likely this is a family owned business with very manageable overhead expenses. The process is as simple as the food, park, walk up to the window place your order, pay, get a pager and find a seat under the pavilion and wait to get buzzed. We just happen upon this place while traveling from Lake Lure to Rutherfordton and now I can't stop thinking about the experience and how in world I didn't visit here several times while camping in the area. There's not doubt this is a local favorite and it's obvious there are no strangers here, the orders come out of the kitchen fairly quickly but there'll be plenty of time to strike up a conversation with one of the locals or someone visiting the area and who was lucky enough to stop in for breakfast or lunch. We choose the bbq sandwich which apparently everyone but me knows that means pulled pork with either white or red coleslaw on a fresh toasted bun, it was absolutely the best bbq'd pulled pork sandwich I've ever eaten, as filling as this sandwich was I probably could have eaten two of them or not have shared. We also ordered a club sandwich which came piled high with delicious sliced Turkey and Ham mozzarella and cheddar cheese tomato and mayonnaise on toast (cooked and sliced onsite I'm sure). The staff here is amazing and very accommodating you can definitely have anything you're way. We opted out of a side and drink (we had drinks with us) and left here for only $12.00 which is unbelievable to me. I usually travel to this area every year so going forward this will definitely be a spot I frequent multiple times when I'm in town. Don't pass this one by....
