After a 12 hr drive I was looking for a local spot to rest the back and feed the belly. After fueling up nearby I decided to give this spot a chance. They have a good sized parking lot as well as plenty of seating. The menu has lots or selections. I ordered the Turkey Sandwich on Sourdough Bread with sweet potato fries. The food was fresh and brought out quickly. The BBQ sauce was fresh and the sandwich came with a ton of options. Also the pricing is extremely reasonable. Our family arrived Blue Ridge Barbecue at opening. The staff did not appear to be ready but took our order. When we tried to pay the card reader was not working and we had to pay in cash. Paying cash was not a real problem but I was just glad we had cash. When we got our food the corn dogs were still frozen in the center and the fried apple pies were doughy on the inside. The pulled pork was just ok and the baked beans looked like paste and and yesterday's leftovers. Ladies bathroom didn't have working paper towel dispenser. Very disappointing over all. My family and I have eaten here several times over the years and, to this day, they don't disappoint. The food is consistently good. They have pulled chicken and pork options. The choice of sauces are very good. The sweet tea is consistently good. This is an all-around great eatery to visit more than once. A good thing about it's location is that it is conveniently located a very short drive off I-26 for those just passing by. Also, the staff is very polite and gracious. Today I'm in North Carolina, hungry as all get out (I figure when in Rome, talk like the locals) and my brother Phil who lives in Tryon N.C., said let's get some barbecue. He said in his southern drawl, "We got this here place that does it like it's supposed too (he's long since lost his Southern California accent). So we find ourselves at Mountain View bbq. And find ourselves we did, at least our inner bbq self, and it was telling us you done right. As I walked to the counter, I saw a sign stating "Meatloaf sandwich" no need to look at the menu, I was sold then and there. And was it ever good. It came with a drink and chips, they make their chips. Very, very tasty it was. My brother got the brisket sandwich. A huge portion of meat cooked to perfection. That's darn good he said. Next visit I'm going to try the burnt ends......and also get the Meatloaf sandwich. Quick Tip: If you have an aversion to police, then make sure to check the parking lot for their cars at dinner time. There were 7 cops strapping on the feedbag when we visited, and Mountain View wasn't even serving doughnuts! Mountain View gets a solid 4 DDDD's for Dagummit this food is down right good! I was considering giving Mountain View a 5, but although I don't have an aversion to police, I wish they would stop pulling me over during my travels. read more

Stopped here on the way back from Asheville today. We would definitely make the hour and a half drive from our house again just to eat here again. The pulled chicken was super moist and melted in your mouth. My boyfriend got 10 wings for 14 dollars and they were amazing. Hubby was craving for wings so we decided to give Mountain View a try after seeing the pictures and reading the review. Came here at 12 noon on a Tuesday - bad idea, the line is long and the wait for food is long too. We didn't get our food until 25 min after we ordered. I feel bad for the girl at the cashier, she runs the one woman show in the front, from taking order to serving food, and she's pregnant. Hubby got the "plum good" wings which are really good, I had the 1/2 & 1/2 sandwich, for $7.99 they gave you a lot of meat and chips! I didn't eat the bun cause the meat along filled me up. There are a lot of varieties on the menu, maybe I'll find a less traffic time to try their fried green tomato and Rueben! read more

The food is delicious. Service is 9/10 times good, some of the folks could be a bit friendlier, but they aren't rude so it's fine. Not everybody is happy go lucky all the time. Parking lot is small, but I've never had an issue. Handicap accessible, they also have a bar area (not as in Alcohol) but an eating at bar. Which is super nice if someone is in a power wheelchair and it's easier for them to eat at higher tables/ bar than the regular tables. I would recommend their Lemon pepper (dry rub) or Parmesan cheese wings as I always get both of those and my sone gets the ribs and he devours them. The pulled bbq is amazing also! Check your order before you leave. Dusty, in the kitchen, has always made things just right in my opinion. The food is darn good! I've had almost everything on the menu and have enjoyed it all. The gangsta wrap, the bacon ranch chicken wrap, dry ribs, grilled turkey sandwich, and their coleslaw are all top-notch favorites of mine. Their sweet tea is also very good. You go up the counter, order your plate (I did pulled pork with mountain beans and potato salad), take a number, and have a seat. While I enjoyed the beans and potato salad, everyone else at the table felt ill after having them (possibly a coincidence?). I really liked that the mountain beans weren't just regular baked beans - they have some kidney beans and some BBQ sauce in there! The meat was nice and the sauce was flavorful, but it wasn't "melt-in-your-mouth-this-meat-doesnt-even-need-sauce" good. My biggest complaint is that while the staff were friendly when dealing with our orders, half of our table's food came out and then two or three other tables came out before the rest of us got any food. When I first saw the place I was hesitant to go in. do not expect date night seating but the BBQ made up for the ambiance. The Burnt Ends are great. Wings are fantastic. My wife had ribs which were amazing. And I but the mustard based sauce to take home. I'm not one for bad reviews but sometimes it's warranted. I wasn't expecting the greatest dining experience ever but I did want a clean restaurant, good food, reasonable service and courteous staff. And for the record, price is not an issue if the restaurant can simply meet those simple things. I was recently traveling from Asheville to Columbia on I-26, was hungry, so pulled Yelp out to find a BBQ place. My experience is proof that Yelp isn't always the best recommendation. Clean Restaurant: I can confirm that the restaurant is clean. Good Food: I never got my food so can't confirm or deny it's tastiness Reasonable Service: This is a BBQ place where all the food is already cooked so I shouldn't have waited more than 5-7 minutes to be served. I took my seat (only second table in the restaurant seated) and kept an eye on the window for my plate. The kitchen was on point and the plate was in the serving window within 5 minutes. BUT that is where it stayed for the next 13 minutes. There was a young lady (I assume the server) who stayed on her cell phone pacing in and out of the kitchen door. The older lady who that was running the register was also on her phone most of the time (in fact as she took my order she asked whomever she was having a conversation with to hold a minute so she could take my order) . Neither noticed, nor seemed to care, that my food was getting colder and colder. At about the 18-19 minute mark, I got up from the table (remember ther only two tables seated in the entire restaurant), got in line, behind a couple of new customers that had just walked in to ask for my food to go or to get my money back. As I stood in line, the register lady took a couple more calls for to go orders and made all the folks, that had been in line, wait behind those that were calling in. I was absolutely shocked at that. That was when I decided to just get my money back and spend it where it is more appreciated. Courteous Staff: The older lady running the register never said a word to me, nothing. No apology, no "have a good day", nothing. I take that back. She did try and argue with me when I got to the register, to get my money back, and told me that my food had just come up. I didn't appreciate that as I had been watching it for, now, almost 30 minutes. She also kept a phone on her shoulder as she waited on customers. The younger lady walked around behind the counter, not doing anything with customers, on her cell phone as if that was absolutely normal. So no, the staff at Mountain View is not courteous. They may not treat everyone the way that I was treated. Maybe it is because I was traveling. Maybe she had some other things in her mind. Maybe if you're local and you know her, all is good. Maybe........ Anyway, I will never be back to Mountain View BBQ. Good luck to you if you do. read more
