I was lucky enough to book a hotel room about a block away from this cool bike shop. Well bike shop for what I was looking for anyway. They also carry lots of other equipment for salesman or rental. I rented a cruiser bike and spent a delightful hour riding on the riverfront trail. The bike was awesome! And at 10 bucks an hour it was the best money I've spent in days. As out-of-town visitors, we were excited to try stand up paddle boarding in Richland. We've done it before in our hometown in Hawaii and were delighted when the activity was offered. It's about $32.58 for one board for the two hour minimum (tax included). We booked from 3 pm to 5 pm. Once we got out there, we tried our best to stay close to shore but the current was so strong, it felt like we paddled for nothing really. After finally giving up just one hour later at 4 pm, we called Greenie's for an hour refund and hoped that they could be lenient to new business and understand that this really wasn't as fun as it could've been. We don't know the river. We didn't know the currents. We called and were told that THEY think by the time we walked our equipment up the little 2-block hill (Yes, you haul all of your own equipment to and from the river. It's not on the water like usual.), it'll be closer to 4:45 pm anyway so "no refund" was insinuated. We made our choice quickly and hustled up the hill in 15 minutes because we didn't want to sit with something we weren't using. By the time we got there, the counter girl scrambled for words saying "Ohhh since it's like, almost 4:20 now and so it's closer to 4:30.. we're like half an hour into 4 so that's like closer to 5 now so we can't refund you." Umm what? Will not be back. Thanks, but so like... you know. No thanks, counter girl. read more

This shop rents kayaks ($15-25/hr), and you can roll them a couple hundred yards down Lee Blvd through Howard Amon Park and put in in the Columbia. Or if cruising bike paths is your poison, you can rent a bike cruiser for $10-15/hr, and jump on the Columbia River Bike Path as well. This is just the sort of shop the Tri-Cities (or any place) could use more of. read more

Not impressed at all! took 3 trips to repair my bicycle...parts not available, two weeks out. I returned a call about my bicycle...was told, "Do not call about your bicycle, when it is done we will call you". I immediately picked up my bicycle and went to another shop...repaired with OEM parts and out the door within an hour. His picture and dress...leaves a lot to be desired. I recently purchased two bikes from this shop. The salesman was quick to recommend an upgrade to the tires on both bikes that cost $75 / bike. We agreed and the salesman told us that the tires/bikes would be ready first thing in the morning and that the shop would call us once they'd completed the work. We never received a call the following morning. We called at noon to check in and were told the bikes would be ready in 30 minutes. We showed up to the shop 30 minutes later and the tech had just begun working on the bikes. Based on the comments being made by the salesman, the tech was inexperienced. Fast forward to two days later, there is a leak on the rear wheel stem of one of the bikes. The tire is now flat and will remain so without additional maintenance. All due to a rushed job by an inexperienced tech, with zero QC being provided by the shop. My takeaway is that Greenies over promises and under performs. There are many options in the Tri Cities. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more

These are some of the nicest people in town. I had idea to experience bike riding and used their rental service. They found bike that work for both me and my teacher while also encouraging me that I can do it. I would definitely recommend them for rentals of paddle or pedal needs. And another plus they offer Helmets in the rental so you can stay safe. read more

I really try to support local. I bring my bike in when it needs repair and buy bike supplies (kickstands for the grandkids and such) today I drop $80+ to get a general bike tuneup and two cables replaced...when I dropped it off I mentioned the back tire was low, please check it. I pick it up and the back tire is still low. I wonder if I even got a tune up or if they just replaced the shift cables, charged me and moved on. I kinda felt cheated last time I brought it in and even if they are the closest bike shop they are not the only in the tri cities. I'm not returning. read more

I went to several bike shops to find something I could ride a little nicer and quicker then the cruiser bike I already own. Several shops tried to make something work that they had in stock but none of it felt right. Glad I took the time to go to Greenies, they took time to talk to me and I rode a couple of different styles of bikes. Found a style I liked and they ordered it the color/size I wanted. When it got in the size felt a little small. They didn't give me any grief about getting in a bigger frame size and trying that out. Went down today and rode the larger frame size. I just had my first Greenies experience today. Finally decided to go for a bike ride for the first time in years! The guy, Darren, was really helpful in explaining the different types of bikes and helped me figure out more of what I am looking for for when I finally purchase a bike again. Very awesome!! Today I rented a bike for two hours, and checked out some of the awesome bike trails we have here in the Tri Cities. It was only 20 bucks, and well worth it. They have kayaks for rent there too, as well as paddle boards in the summertime. Pretty sweet place! read more

Our experience with Greenies was very positive. Jesus was very not only very knowledgeable about e-bikes, but was also extremely patient with all our questions and any hesitation or reservations we had. He was also very accommodating, suggesting various solutions to help us feel more comfortable. I've seen a couple of not so stellar reviews here, but for us Jesus was awesome. I'm not exactly sure who's working today on 5/26/18 but when I called around 11:00 or so to ask about prices and how to rent a bike so my wife and I could pull our kids and one of the strollers. The girl that answered the phone today said go online and check-out prices I don't have time to look it up for you. We planned on riding the bikes to the park today and running a few of them but I guess we're going to go to the Carousel instead. Was definitely very interested in taking the kids to the park on a bike ride but I'm not going to give this place business if they have people like that. I'm not sure exactly what you get paid to do when you work at the bike store but I would assume giving prices and helping customers out would be one of the more important ones. read more

Greenies Is a breath of fresh air in Richland Washington. It's a small, local shop that carries products with the goal of being good for the environment. At first I thought it was a bicycle shop, then I noticed all of the kayaks, there's also a lot of other other products: fun stuff and personnel use. But I'm a bicyclist, and that's what I came there for. First a flat tire was repaired on one bike. Next a superfluous bike attachment was prepared with beautiful enthusiasm on the other. I don't know about all the good reviews of Greenies. I went in there on a Saturday with my wife. There were no customers, just one person behind the counter on his computer. We looked around the shop and he ignored us the entire time. The shop might have great things and might rent nice bikes, but if the people who work there are too busy playing on their computers to talk to customers then I will go somewhere else. Ironically, I went in there, specifically to speak to someone about fixing my bike and renting kayaks. I guess I will try to find somewhere else in Richland. read more

OMG, I am totally lusting after an Electra bike. Unfortunately, Richland isn't super bike-friendly (honestly, it's pretty bike-scary if you've ever tried riding anywhere other than along the river path). But that doesn't stop me from lusting after the purple paisley Electra Karma Cruiser with tooled leather handlebars and tooled leather seat, whitewalled tires, pretty fenders. And I enjoy looking at the other Electras, as well. Reminds me of being a kid. One time I was walking past Greenies and almost got run over by a nice lady in her 50s who was taking one for a test ride. She slammed on her brakes and apologized, saying that she hadn't ridden a bike in 40 years but her Daddy was buying her a new one for her birthday. How awesome is that? This store rocks. read more

Finally ended up purchasing a gorgeous robin egg's blue Electra bike. I had a tough time deciding what type of bike and what size was best suited for me so the salesperson let me ride multiple bikes around the Parkade so I could find the best fit. She even suggested options of swapping different parts to get the look and feel I wanted. Great experience and they have a good selection of unique high quality bikes. read more

I rented a kayak from here and brought it down the Columbia river to ride. The kayaks come on wheels which makes it easy to roll down. The store is about 2 blocks up from the river. If you are super tiny or weak I wouldn't recommend doing this on your own as it might get too heavy to even roll the kayak down to the river. Other than that, it's a great concept! The prices are reasonable. The river is nice. The staff (I think I dealt with the owner) was very friendly and even offered me free sunblock and a waterproof bag to borrow while on the river. These guys are super nice! They hooked us up with a couple of rebuilt vintage bikes. They had plenty of options, and they are rebuilt or serviced incredibly well. There is usually a pretty big selection of new, used, and vintage bikes. If you are looking for a quality vintage bike, this is really the only place to go. Last summer, I went for a ride along the river. Before the trip I took off the front tire, but when I put it back on it was rubbing against the bike. I rode right up to Greenies and asked for some help. The guy in the shop told me he would take care of it, no problem. He had me in and out of there enjoying the day in 10 minutes. I've also rented kayaks for the Columbia here. During rental process they are incredibly helpful get you set up correctly. Great service with the rentals. The people are knowledgeable and friendly. The store is very clean and ascetically pleasing. Greenies helps provide the local culture that we want in have in the Tri-Cities! read more

This place rocks and so does the dude that owns it! He was able to help me get my daughter started on a beginners bike while I wandered the store and basically sat on everything ranging from vintage bikes to sweet new age bikes to an amazingly comfortable couch. My son lied down on it for a second and passed out. The owner said we could let him chill there and play Destiny with him later. I was like heck no! This kid can't get a leg up on me in video games! Greenies is really good about making cycling accessible to anyone that wants to ride! Between the monthly-ish mountain bike rides and weekly rides of all flavors, there's something for everyone to motivate support the rider. Paddleboard rentals are top notch, conveniently located a couple blocks from great water. They're also good to bounce ideas off of! I'm working on an e-bike build and they've been great to talk to about the ins and outs of electrification. They have quite the inventory of factory and custom electric bikes. We also purchased a couple quality kids bikes from them, so if you don't see something around the store, ask anyway! They might be able to get it for you. read more

I bought a Tshirt here...an organic Toddland tshirt. It says "I just want to ride bikes with you," which is, coincidentally, what I would do with everyone. The shirt was $26, but I figure that's the price I pay for shirts that aren't made by children in China from plants doused in poisons. Kind of an odd assortment of stuff, what with the bikes, clothing (both cycling and casual), foods, pet stuff, paper straws, Toms, etc. It could be called "Hippies" instead of "Greenies" (which makes me think of cat treats) and it would be completely accurate too. I've seen better bike shops to be sure, this one sells a small assortment of gear and accessories, and those Elektra cruiser/hauling bikes...but this spot is a lot more than just a bike shop. You can rent bikes and kayaks from here. Had I known this, I would've brought a change of clothes and pedaled down that trail that goes through the park across the street. I love this store. They let me test drive the bikes and helped me narrow down my search a few months ago (i haven't rode a bike since I was 12). After some thought, I knew I wanted a townie electra. I saw a powder blue townie bike in the window but it was sold before I could get in to purchase it. I went in this Saturday and was helped right away and the owner said he could order it. I was so happy and expected to wait 2 weeks. He and the sales girl rang me up and said it would arrive on Wednesday! My first time into the store.... Went to get a "bullet proof tube" for my wife's bike tire. I have nothing but good things to say about this place!! Clean, inviting, professional, and quality products and service!! The guy that helped me was the owner. He was extremely fast, gave me a really thick tire tube and put a plastic barrier inside the tire. He guaranteed it not to get flat from normal use.
