Actually, it didn't include very many ingredients at all. If you wanted more ingredients like Cheese and mayonnaise and cucumbers and carrots for example, you had to pay extra for those ingredients. I got the half sandwich and it was pretty modest portion. It was enough but only just. I also ordered chips, a drink and a cookie. My lunch was over $20. I believe the total cost was $23. The drink alone was over three dollars. This is a very expensive place to get lunch. This was a one and done for me. I will not be returning to the Black Sheep.

I had returned to the area for some shopping and decided to stop by the cafe, but alas, I was too late ! I had reminisced on the delicious cookies but it was not to be. My memory returned to my first visit.. As I stepped into the warm and inviting cafe, the sweet aroma of coffee and freshly baked goods wafts through the air, tickling the nose and captivating the taste buds. One can't help but feel anticipation and search for the source of this wondrous scent, the eyes dart to a display of baked goods brimming with life and love declaring forth their delightsome quality to the nostrils. Each bite of these heavenly treats is like a symphony of flavors exploding in your mouth. The cookies are perfectly soft and chewy, with just the right amount of sweetness, and melt in your mouth like butter. You can taste the high-quality ingredients in every bite, and it's clear that the bakers here take pride in crafting each and every cookie with care and precision. But it's not just the cookies that impress. As one peruses the display case, the eyes catch sight of the cinnamon-buns , many more treats, and even pretzels - twisted and golden-brown, with a sprinkling of salt that glistens in the light. I don't even typically enjoy pretzels, but these were too good to ignore. I take a bite, and it's like no pretzel experienced before. One of the most pleasant features of Cushman Market and Cafe is that it is nestled at an important corner in northeast Amherst. You need to travel further west to get to The Mill District and not much opens there early, and there's little else I can recall in the other cardinal directions. It's a pleasant trip, with plenty of parking in front, behind, and in a strip of side road across the street. I've never been in the market, so let me keep talking about the Cafe. The atmosphere of the Cafe is wonderful, with locals, safety officers, and regulars all visiting at each meal hour from breakfast to lunch. Nestled inside what looks like an old barn, complete with doors still hanging, Cushman has memorabilia from decades of music, sports, politics, and news frozen under acrylic, different for many of their tables. The café seems to have at most 20 chairs, and the staff behind the counter will deliver it to your table, call your name, or leave other orders by a stand near the back entrance. Cushman Cafe offers a variety of meals, alongside baked goods and freshly mixed café drinks. While I'm not a fan of the switcherels, I have enjoyed their dirty Chai lattes, iced teas, fresh coffees, and free water if I recall in a pinch. They have gender neutral bathrooms--which is great if you're tired of waiting in line for one of two as they are large but single occupancy. They offer cold panini sandwiches, hot panini, all sorts of eggs, egg sandwiches, and egg breakfasts, vegan and vegetarian options, alongside a seemingly visible carnivorous focus for their new menu's default. If you had a chance to hop on a bus and travel around Amherst, or you were passing through to the highways, Cushman Cafe is worth a quick stop. I've rarely had to wait long for my meals even in busy hours, and this is because of the large and competent kitchen, who--if you'll remember--can get a delicious sandwich right any day of the week. I hope cell service returns there!

Don't be surprised if there's a line, because that's the one thing they power through first. I'm used to seeing just the proprietor, but often I'll meet his staff who I find friendly, skilled, and diligent to their stations. I would love to say more but the proprietor is so humble that I don't know his name yet, just that Pita Pockets consistently cooks good food. Apparently, their Turbo pocket is original, and could be a good journalism scoop. Otherwise, they'd need food carts outside to keep up with much more traffic. Maybe someday there's a Turbo Trust passing down the restaurant? :)

Eating in their food area, making a food order with their cashier, or even using their digital menu, all are friendly, comfortable, and accommodating. They serve halal meats, too, which eases my conscience and my ordering options from their menu, including fresh and crispy french fries. What sets this place apart from a local or fast food burger joint, however, is the love for the experience of their food that Royal Chicken & Kebab offers. Receiving your food order from them is a delight. From the way each meal is wrapped, boxed, or sealed, to the way their burgers and subs look unwrapped. I recall the days I used to enjoy a messy local Philly Cheesesteak sub at whatever local sandwich shop I would be at, where the price wasn't about the love and care specifically, as there needed to be an overwhelming level of meat--like, get yourself dirty on a date level as the wrapper was soggy and flowing with cheese. That is part of a local Philly cheese experience, and here, I felt the love for the flavors brought to a wider community, if not the whole world. Here, our local cooks and chefs still make a sub full of steak, cheese, and peppers, but just enough to fit neatly and appealingly within their foil wraps. Each bite of the slightly warm and crispy bun reveal to me how much I still love the flavors of the experience, and don't need the sub to be my only sustenance.
