Cape codder - turkey, cranberry cream cheese, Granny Smith, spinach, cheddar
    Joy G.

Loved our lunch here - we straggled in after a run on the nearby bike trail and I'm glad we didn't have to wait for a table. The menu has sandwiches, burgers, salads, soups, along with its own section of mac n cheese, and everything we got was tasty with fresh ingredients, generously portioned, and reasonably priced. I couldn't pick among the many options in the sandwiches section and just went with whatever my eye happened to land on: the Cape Codder. Really, it was the homemade cranberry walnut cream cheese, how does that not sound amazing? I'm also a sucker for any sandwich that combines granny smith apples and cheddar. Hard to tell from the picture, but the sandwich was enormous. Next time, instead of the country white, I may swap it out for wheat or multigrain, since it got to be too bread-y after a few bites. Highly regret not getting the house-made chips on the side. Also loved the cup of corn chowder - I'm a big fan of the chowder family. This one, though vegetarian, was incredibly thick and hearty, generous chunks of potatoes, a slight spicy kick. My husband couldn't stop raving about the sirloin steak tip salad. I really liked the cucumber wasabi dressing they used and wish I asked for a side of it to slather all over my sandwich. Last but not least: we got a chocolate PB cupcake to go, and let's just say, it's every bit as decadent as it sounds. As with everything else, they are extremely generous with the frosting. Service was super friendly and came by several times to check on how we were doing. Food came out fast, which was very much appreciated by yours truly. Street parking out front, with a patio and bigger parking lot in the back.

What a fantastic place for lunch or dinner. Right from the start, warm welcome. Service top notch, attentive informative. Great options from salads, burgers and sandwiches. Great addition to the local area. Oh the cupcakes and cookies a must to finish off the experience.

No indoor dining yet but there are plenty of tables with shade. We got the Cape Codder and the Poutine to share. The cranberry spread was so delicious!

    Fried Mac and cheese! Omg.

Service took forever. Fries were way too salty and made me sick. Chai latte was disgusting. Complete waste of money.

Delicious!! Nicely buttered roll with so much lobster you have to eat some of it before you can even pick this roll up. And not just claws like some places this was all solid lobster meat. $30 with fries- wish we remembered to opt for the onion straws (next time). Lobster was tender and flavorful with not an over abundant amount of mayo just the tiniest bit to hold everything together and it was tender, flavorful, and overall delicious. Arnold Palmer wasn't powdered lemonade either, it was perfectly fresh and not overly sweet. Then shop at the Amazing food co-op next door. Looking forward to our next trip here. We walked up to a casual outdoor seating area with picnic tables set alongside the road, giving it the laid back atmosphere of a New England seafood shack where the focus is entirely on generous portions and classic seafood favorites rather than anything overly polished. The setup is simple and relaxed, making it an easy stop for a casual lunch or dinner during the warmer months. The lobster roll is the clear highlight here. The portion was surprisingly large for the price, packed generously and substantial enough to feel like a full meal on its own. The lobster was the star of the sandwich, and the overall value stood out given how expensive lobster rolls have become across Massachusetts. We also ordered the fish and chips, which came with an equally generous portion size, though the fish was a little drier than expected. While it was still satisfying, it lacked some of the moisture and flakiness that would have made it more memorable. What stands out most is the portion to price ratio. Nearly everything coming out of the kitchen is oversized, which helps explain why the restaurant has built such a strong reputation as a destination for seafood in the area. The food leans toward hearty and filling rather than refined, and the experience works best when you arrive hungry and ready for a substantial meal. Service moved efficiently despite the steady crowds, and the casual outdoor setting kept the experience relaxed. For anyone looking for a classic roadside seafood stop in Western Massachusetts, Captain Jack's delivers generous portions, solid seafood, and a lobster roll that easily justifies the visit.

And though I can't guarantee that the town was so vibrantly and unapologetically queer nearly 30 years ago when our paths diverged, I can say that in 2025 it was completely my vibe. Though lesbianest - it def was. After Dinosaur Footprints, my trio needed to grab some lunch. They spoke highly of Local Bar and what a delicious choice it was. They have a nice lineup of preconfigured burgers - the teriyaki seems to be a local favorite - or you can build your own. The best is that you can have a beef, turkey, or veggie burger with any style. Unfamiliar meat sometimes sends me running to the baño and I still had a 3 hr drive up to NH. So I opted for the Farmhouse style burger with a veggie patty. It came with cheddar cheese, bacon, and our house maple mayo. I told you maple is my fave flavor. Excellent decision - the server even complimented my choice lol. The veggie patty was homemade with mushrooms and other grains - texture was elite and the umami was palpable throughout. It also didn't fall apart in my hands as other veggie patties are prone to do. I also got an order of fries but this is completely a place where you could get a burger and skip the sides and be satisfied. My dining companions were more in the know in this area so we shared the fries. Free refills too which thrilled me to no end as I strongly dislike nickel and diming on drinks. Parking can be a challenge in this town - but since it's Pride Month the rainbow gods were shining on us and we found 2 spots right next to each other just around the corner from the spot. Great food, stellar service, clean dining area, central location, something for vegans and meat eaters alike. Can't go wrong with this one!
