However they shouldn't have tuna tartare on the menu if they're not going to buy fresh fish. They served carbon monoxide-treated ahi, which is done to hide the true age or quality of fish. Yellowfin and Bluefin Tuna have a color closer to beef when fresh, giant retail stores buy theirs treated with carbon monoxide so it takes on this same unnatural shade of pink. It doesn't affect the flavor much but the texture of the meat gets grainy as it ages, which this was. read more

My experience at this restaraunt is truly phenomenal. We were here celebrating my son's 13th birthday, and he really enjoyed it. At first, the octopus was kind of chewy, but then the manager came and brought out the Shrimp Mikrolimano which was phenomenal and the service from him was absolutely outstanding. He was very nice and attentive and professional. Also, our cake melted, and he brought out a desert plate and gave us our cake too which is the best service I've seen from a restaurant. Came to Psaraki back in March for my birthday and knew I had to come back this summer. Went for a date night and sat outside with a beautiful view of the bridge--such a great vibe. We had the 4 dips, grilled octopus, fried calamari, and lamb chops to share--everything was delicious just like last time. Came here on Sunday for brunch and they were offering a Restaurant Week special for ~$30. The restaurant is located on the water with amazing views of both bridges. The ferry is a few minutes away if coming from Manhattan. We had a 12:30 reservation but arrived at noon and they were just opening. We were greeted and seated promptly by our waiter. He recommended the Spicy Feta Dip and it did not disappoint. It is a good portion and served with warm seasoned Pita Chips. It was good, must try! For entrees we got the Lamb Chops Benedict and French Toast. Lamp Chops were really flavorful, my favorite! French Toast is unique as they use an olive bread and is hearty but good. They offer dessert with the Brunch deal, we ordered the Portokalopita which is a traditional orange cake and ice cream. This was very refreshing. Looking for authentic Greek food in a Brooklyn? This is the spot. We ordered tsatziki and tarama spread with fresh pita and grilled calamari to start. The spreads were SUPERB. Having just traveled to Greece in September, I've been on the hunt for tarama spread and man, this place did not disappoint. The pita bread is seasoned and came out nice and warm which really accentuated how good the spreads were. The grilled calamari was seasoned well but was a bit chewy. Then for a main dish I got the fish kebab which was more like a seared fish cake/patty over garlic dip. It was spiced with lots of dill and while it was tasty, my husbands seafood orzo stole the show. That was the best dish of the night by far. You could taste the fish broth in the orzo and the seafood was cooked perfectly. We ended the night with bougatsa served hot and man, what a perfect ending. The ambience is beautiful and does make you feel like you've stepped into Santorini for a short while. The service was super friendly as well and made us feel like we were back in Greece. The branzino sashimi was delicate but packed with flavor and plated meticulously. The scallops were fresh and artfully presented on scallop shell plates. The whole branzino cooked over an open charcoal grill was top tier. The kritharoto seafood orzo risotto was flavorful and filling. The bougatsa was a standout dessert with a semolina custard filling and crispy outer layer. The fresh cocktails perfectly complemented the food with a standout pornstar martini. Wow, after avoiding a new restaurant because the old one was a disappointment was a grand mistake. After a long walk on a perfect day I was in South Williamsburg taking pictures and enjoying the perfect views along the East River. I decided to stop and eat at Psaraki. The food was Devine. I had the Greek sausage (Loukaniko) and Kritharoto, mixed seafood and shellfish orzo. The passion and authentic flavors that owner, James, not his Greek name in his food preparation were amazing. The Loukaoko tasted like it was home made and I know that because my dad made it in his home smoker all from scratch. The seafood had me moaning with every bite. I felt like I was transported to a village in Greece. I was treated like family as was the others in the restaurant. The perfect evening. I can't wait to come back with my wife soon. read more

My husband and I came out for our anniversary dinner. The view and ambiance were amazing, and our waitress was wonderful! We started with the calamari, which was perfectly seasoned with a light crunch. I had the Branzino, which was delicious and lemony as expected. My husband had the chicken, and while it was also lemony, it was very bland and lacking flavor. We also shared the potatoes, which were good. When the manager came by to check on us, my husband heaitantly mentioned that the chicken was bland. Instead of acknowledging the concern, the manager explained that the dish was "prepared differently than what we're used to in America" and suggested my husband pick up the leg and bite into it for more flavor. He then told us to use hot sauce that our waitress had brought over when he mentioned that the chicken was bland. I found these comments offensive. A manager should never assume what a customer's palate is or what type of food they've eaten before. We have dined at restaurants all over the world and are not new to Greek cuisine. Bland food is bland food, no matter where you are from. A simple, "I'm sorry you're not satisfied with your meal," would have gone a long way. Im not sure why he asked, if he was not open to honest feedback. For a $250 dinner, we left with mixed feelings. The food overall had some highlights, but the dismissive response from the manager left a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended). read more

Our family of four chose PSARAKI to celebrate my birthday two weeks ago. A very positive review we had read in a NYC-area newspaper prompted us to reserve our celebratory dinner at PSARAKI and not at any of hundreds other restaurant choices. We were thrilled we did! We enjoyed every part of our dining experience at PSARAKI: the breathtaking views of the river and the Manhattan skyline, the summer breeze, the delectable appetizers, the main entrees cooked to perfection, the refreshing beverages, and as grand finale for the birthday celebration, the orange-zest cake, portokalopita. Among appetizers, we ordered grilled octopus, calamari, a collection of four spreads, saganaki cheese, and the village salad "horiatiki." Our main entrees were Pacific wild-caught salmon, whole branzino, lamb chops, and wild greens "horta." We received outstanding table service by our friendly and helpful server and were overjoyed by the opportunity to speak extensively at our table with the highly talented chef and owner, James. A delightful surprise was that only steps from PSARAKI along the waterfront, in only one minute we were on the East River Ferry pier (South Williamsburg ferry terminal) for a scenic and memorable ferry ride across the river to the 34th Street & FDR terminal (ferry tickets were only $4.50 each).
