Ate at the The Green restaurant at the Copake Country Club. They seemed to have done a little renovation and opened up the reception area. We got seated on the side room and plenty of good spacing. It was October and they had s special Oktoberfest menu with Schnitzel, bratwurst and pats to salad and kraut sampler. The beer was light and refreshing. We had a filet mignon and tomato bisque. Somebody ordered the French Dip sandwich. And I ordered the Duck Ragout. We shared a dessert of Chocolate Torte with pumpkin ice cream. The waiter was very nice and helpful. Service was delightful. This is not my first time here but I wanted to make sure I got a review in and will certainly visit again.

    Keep going ;-)

Overall, a solid 4 stars and I'm very grateful to have such a fine dining experience at Copake Lake. The restaurant itself is beautiful - brand new renovation, modern, clean, comfortable. Outside dining is wonderful, shaded and bug free. The views are fantastic. Mostly the golf course hills, a peak at the lake and beautiful trees. The menu offers great options for everyone - including vegetarian. We started with a grilled peach and burrata salad (nice to share) with orange and grapefruit sections and pistachio. It was DeLiCiOuS!! Very light and refreshing and full of great flowers. I had a Turkey burger with side salad - excellent and my husband had a Turkey BLT club with fries - his only complaint was it was light on the turkey. Fries were great. The service was very friendly but took a loooong time for food to come out of kitchen. Very long. 50 minutes from time we ordered til sandwiches came out. And service didn't check if we needed anything while we were waiting. We were not asked if we wanted anything to drink (bottled tap water is provided at table which was fine), nor did our waitress share the specials - we overhead another waitress sharing the specials. But if you're not in a rush and want to enjoy your company and the view, the food is certainly worth waiting for.

The Greens Restaurant at the Copake Country Club is a Columbia County gem! You do not have to be a member to dine at this outstanding farm-to-table restaurant. Nestled just off the beaten path (Golf Course Rd.) adjacent to Copake Lake, the grounds are stunning and if you are a golfer I'm certain you would be in golfer's paradise. The way the sunset reflected on the entire scene, as I indulged in an order of the Country Style Duck Pâté with Cranberries and Pistachios, was so peaceful and relaxing. Our group of 13 dined on the deck overlooking the golf course and a small stage where they offer live music on Thursday evenings in the summer. The food was delicious, the staff was superb and if I lived 40 miles closer I would be here AT LEAST once a week! Yes, The Greens perfectly embodies all of the elements of a place that I would be happy to call "my spot".

We held our Rehearsal Dinner in August 2021 at The Greens at Copake Country Club and they did the MOST PHENOMENAL job! We highly recommend them for your next private event - birthday, anniversary, wedding, etc. We had dinner on the golf course, on the hill above the 17th hole, at a beautiful long table. The location has gorgeous views and feels very private and intimate. Kyleigh helped with the coordination of a seasonal menu, floral, candles, rentals, and set-up to ensure perfection! Kyleigh and team were extremely attentive with service - no one's glass was empty, and the food was delicious! We brought small speaker outside for some music and enjoyed the sunset while we ate. After we went to the bar for a nightcap. Overall a wonderful experience, don't hesitate to book! :)

So-so food, so-so staff, but an absolutely beautiful outdoor dining area. Almost makes the higher prices worth it. Almost.

From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is welcoming, comfortable, and unpretentious. It feels like home--a place for a great meal, a good drink, and even better company. Chef Kevin has created a menu that strikes the perfect balance. The classics are beautifully executed, while the rotating features are creative, thoughtful, and rival those at restaurants charging far more. The value is exceptional: occasion-worthy dining without the occasion-worthy prices. Portions are generous, quality is outstanding, and the service may be even more impressive than the food. The entire staff genuinely cares about making every visit memorable. A few insider tips: if you see anything Mediterranean on the menu, order it. And Chef Kevin's buffalo sauce and blue cheese are signature creations that rank among the best you'll find anywhere. One of my favorite moments was reconnecting with Chef Kevin after so much time. While The Hillsdale House itself was a new setting for me, the experience felt instantly familiar because of him. His style, his attention to detail, and the personal touch he brings to every dish transported me right back to the many meals and memories my family and I shared with him over the years. It's amazing how a person can create that same feeling regardless of the location. That warmth carries through the entire restaurant, making it a place where you can bring your family knowing they'll be treated with the same care and hospitality. Restaurants can serve great food. Places like The Hillsdale House create memories. I left grateful, full, and already planning my next visit. With football season just around the corner, I'm especially excited to return, enjoy another incredible meal, and spend a Saturday cheering on the Buckeyes with Chef Kevin. If this visit was any indication, it'll feel just like coming home.

The area is a fantastic place to enjoy Fall leaf peeping. I had a "homemade meatball" and jalapeno pizza. They only offer one size (about 12 inches diameter). The ingredients were high quality, and the crust was some of the best I've ever had. A superb pizza. The wife had "homemade meatballs" with marinara and cheese, and a decent size salad with excellent blue cheese dressing. Our bartender, Kristin, was very pleasant and attentive. They have several open style dining rooms, and a good sized outdoor seating area. This is a great place for travelers to visit, and a wonderful venue for locals to come and relax. Plenty of parking.

It was hard in the past to find places for all of us but now it's even more difficulty because we still have my extremely picky BIL who has stomach issues, GERD, and a multitude of other issues, and now we have a vegan-ish person who tries to stay vegan but eats cheese, dairy, and eggs. So finding places to satisfy everyone is more complicated. This place met our needs and can meet yours: dog friendly, vegetarian options, and has something for even the pickiest of people. Me and another person got the strip steak, my husband got the Philly cheesesteak, MIL got the wunderbar burger, FIL got salmon burger, the vegan-ish got a veggie burger and one of the salads, which he split with his wife the SIL, and my picky BIL got the chicken sandwich. He freaked out over the sandwich because he wanted to know why it was moist and not dry. His partner and I were like, "You can have fully-cooked, moist chicken. Dry chicken isn't the only cooked option." But he continued to have a meltdown over his perfectly cooked chicken. He did eat it though. Family can drive you nuts sometimes. Anyways, despite the meltdown, I think we were all satisfied with our food. I did find the mashed potato on the steak to be very creamy but everything else on the plate was very good. Steak was cooked medium-rare liked I asked. Overall, the place is very good, excellent food, excellent service, and it was a busy night.

And I can continue to quote much chapter and verse of this posthumous writing as the writing is near and dear to my heart - the gallantry shown at Fort Christina and more, the true founders of New York and I wish the good Peter Styversant were here today to drop a heap of learning about America on you who don't understand not just NY history, but America! Love it or be gone. Arriving at 5:45, I hadn't inquired as to what time the first tee ball hits the air, turns out it's about 8:00am. So I practiced my sneaky bump and runs, flips and flops and Texas toe downs. And player worth his salt has to know a multitude of great escape shots. So I lead the field being put out as a single with twins and fours amassing behind me and being 2 years removed from the short grass (due to injuries) I was a bit nervy on the 1st tee, nobody knew who I was, everyone else knew each other. Fortunately I ripped a low 3 iron cut stinger and I was off, still walking and carrying my bag, adding layers and subtracting layers as it was nippy in the mountains. I love the classic shallow and square bunkering design originally popular with architecture from the 20's and 30's. The greens rolled true but I couldn't buy a putt, not much break out there and putting off the second collar is doable. The fairways were in the shape to be expected for early season golf, what I should have done was pay closer attention to the unseen creeks that protected some greens and ran out along the sides. But I was the first player and I needed to set a good pace out there. Overall, the course played extremely fair, I can't give the staff enough credit for such fine service for me, attentiveness and extremely friendly.

We weren't entirely sure if he would ever be able to play golf again, so it was an amazing feeling to get out and hit a few balls with him last year. My father is doing much better now (physically at least, not that much better at golf), and so we try and get out whenever possible. This adds up to a couple times a year here when I'm in town, and accordingly, I am very, very bad at golf. Please believe that no one is mistaking Rip Van Winkle for something that belongs on the PGA Tour. When Greene County hasn't gotten enough rain, you may see a few brown spots out there. It's only nine holes, and generally pretty flat. However, it's an accessible, family-run place that I feel lucky to be able to play. It's affordable (kids play free too), and has my kind of casual vibe. I love that if I forgot to pack a collared shirt, they don't hassle me. My dad says the owner John is a great guy, and I like that his teenage son is often riding around tidying up the course. It's a true family biz. They do a good job too; the greens are well-maintained, the mountain backdrop is gorgeous, and you can't be sad about any day you spend trying to knock a little white ball around a beautiful grassy area. I suppose I can be sad about how poorly I do it, but I'm pretty happy here overall.
