This place holds a lot of promise, but my first experience wasn't without a few flaws. It seems they are still getting things together, but I'm excited to visit this place again. The biggest complaint I have is with the bowls they toss the salads in. Both of the bowls used for my order were wet and by the time I got the salads home the lettuce was soggy and a lot of water had collected at the bottom of my container (not very appetizing). They use the same premise as Chop't (without the chopping), but I wish my salads had been mixed a little better, because I had egg in my salad, but the chunks were too large to fully enjoy. Other than these small complaints, this is a great place and I'm really looking forward to seeing this place grow and improve. I've always said this area needs a place to go for a great salad and this might just be it. read more

I REALLY want to give these guys a good review - BUT I live 5 blocks away and I order for delivery and both times it has taken OVER an hour - for 1 basic salad and 1 panini. I realize I could just go and get it, but I am in the middle of working. I get so hungry and frustrated and by the time it gets here, the tortilla chips are like soggy cereal and I just don't think it tastes great. Just went there for the first time and didn't expect it to be so cheap. Contrary to most salad bars in the City, the salad is 4 dollars and most ingredients here are 50 cents. Meat is about 1 dollar 50. No taxes or anything, so you wont have three croutons and a slice of tomato for 10 dollars. I had a huge, fresh and yummy salad for 8 bucks. Not bad. The people are also really nice and they let you try out the dressings (yes, I ate dressing from a spoon). All in all, it's a great on the go spot if you want to eat healthy! read more

GreenStreets and Ghia are my go-to neighborhood spots, and I literally can't find a single bad thing to say about either establishment. The SMALL salad here is generous (humongous) and super inexpensive... the large salad could definitely feed two people, and very likely three. They have about a zillion add-in options as well as a broad selection of dressings and greens that all somehow taste really consistently fresh. I eat salad just about every day, and even when I have many of the same ingredients at home, I'm so often tempted to pick up a GreenStreets salad instead - they are THAT satisfying! I always opt to create my own, but I'm sure all their menu salads are just as tasty. I can also vouch for every vegetarian-friendly sandwich and soup. Yes, ALL of them. The staff is super friendly when I stop in, and my new staple dressing here is a server-recommended combination of blush wine vinaigrette + sriracha (Try it. You'll never turn back). I found it to be relatively expensive (5.50 (?) for a bowl + 1.50 protein + 1.0 for cheese etc + 0.50 per topping)... The servings are not entirely generous either. I have enjoyed coming to this "Manhattan Style" order-at-counter salad bar over the past couple years. However, the size of the salad and more importantly the quality of the ingredients has continued to go down. Many of the salad ingredients are now the same quality you would find at Subway (very low quality). I am almost positive that the grill chicken was fresh a couple years ago; now they are mystery strips and cubes, the kind you can buy pre-grilled and pre-cut at any big box grocery store. Same thing with the croutons, they used to seem somewhat freshly made, now they are the kind you find in mass produced stuffing. For my latest order, the lettuce just didn't taste fresh. While I do understand there may be a need to cut costs, I think Green Street has gone too far with this considering their salads cost up to $14. Overall, the food is fresh, the prices are fair, and the staff is very friendly. Why not 5 stars? Well, the produce is of good quality, but not of exceptional quality. It consisted of traditional Cobb salad items: Iceberg lettuce, grilled chicken, bacon, tomatoes, hard-boiled egg, avocado and bleu cheese.You have an option to change the greens if you like, so I swapped the iceberg (not a fan) for spinach for no additional charge! For lunch today I had the Red & White salad: Spinach, beets, walnuts and goat cheese. For an additional $3.00, I added sprouts, artichoke hearts, and portobello mushrooms to the salad. Coming from the state of cali where salads are fresh and available to you in every block, it's not easy to find a spot in NYC within this fast food jungle. They have their usual salad or you can pick and choose every ingredient for your salad. I usually have whatever I feel like that day. Avocado are always fresh I seen them freshly cut it when I order, or the fruits that they cut when you order. Not apple that's been cut all day long, but actual fruit that they prepare in front of you! Blush wine are my go to, but you can't go with the other choices. I've been coming here for about 5+ years now and have never had a bad experience. This is a great option if you're trying to eat something healthy but may not have the time to prep food for yourself. Their delivery is usually very fast. There's one delivery guy who drives and is just the nicest dude. The other delivery guys ride mini bikes to deliver the salads, so you know it's going to get there fast. (these guys are also awesome, I ride as well so we bs every now and then about motorcycles). Finally, they seem to be good to the community. I've seen them on numerous occasions allow kids playing in the park to come in and help themselves to water. I just ate my first salad from this place and it was YUM! The highlight: portabella mushrooms. Perfectly marinated and cooked. I arrived about 15 mins before closing but all the ingredients still looked really fresh and appetizing and the ones I chose tasted great as well. Plus, the guys who own the place are super nice.
