Worse interaction I have ever had with a car dealership. I drove in from another state to get a car. No communication after I left the dealership. Tried for 5 days and multiple times each of those days to get in touch with someone. I did not receive my contract until 3 weeks after I bought the vehicle. I still do not have my plates. My son took his Hyundai Veloster Turbo to the Greenway Hyundai Service Center, (also known as University Hyundai Service), for multiple services. Oil change, Transmission Service, and Serpentine belt replacement. Total labor was almost $400, and the OEM serpentine belt he had requested wasn't provided, so they provided an aftermarket item that was priced at a 100% mark-up. Parts totaled about $235; but what really shocked me were the additional fees: $4.99 document & storage fee, $49.83 Shop fee and a 3% credit card surcharge which totaled about $20. (Roughly $75 for some shop supplies, creating an invoice and charging more fees for not paying in cash?) My advice is to shop around and inquire about these unreasonable charges prior to scheduling service at any auto service center. (I don't know why they can't include these fees within their service pricing, so you know what's being charged "up-front). This dealership will never have our patronage in the future. read more

I made an appointment for a recall. I was told the recall would take approximately 1 hour to complete. I came back 2 hours later and the car still had not been touched. The car should have been completed around 1240. I came at 1:40 They maybe 3 before it would be completed. Update for service dept. on 7/21/2020. I'm looking at my highway robbery receipt for a new battery install (cost 321.80) with a bright green sticker saying "IMPORTANT, You will receive a survey from Hyundai Corp shortly. Your complete satisfaction is our goal. If for any reason you cannot mark "TRULY SATISFIED" please contact me (Barry Bannister) personally mailing survey...." Well rather than waste time on the phone with Barry, I emailed the Service Dept. email via their website that afternoon, and as of today 7/24/2020 no one contacted me. Hmmmmmm. They don't seem too concerned about customer satisfaction as evidenced by the lack of attention to their emails. Hence, I'm posting this here (which is the content of my email of 7/22/2020: I have been generally pleased w/ Univ. of Hyundai the numerous times I have been in for recall work, particularly the polite staff and the Saturday hours of operation, and I responded with an excellent Yelp review. However, I left the store frustrated yesterday due to the grimy hand marks on my car armrest and the fact that I had to return to the service department because an "idiot light" was on and I was not certain which issue it pertained to. It was a simple tire inflation issue. This should not have occurred. It makes me doubt the "technician's" attention to detail, with something that is such a quick fix to rectify. This is a serious lack of Quality Control in the service department as well as laziness on the part of your "technicians." Also, during COVID, we all need to be especially vigilant, especially those of us (like me) who consider themselves at risk. Because of COVID (and some items are not COVID related) I strongly recommend you: - clean the grit and grime on armrests at a minimum before returning the car to the customer, my armrest was gritty and grimy when I picked up my vehicle - there is no telling who coughed in my car, how many people did, and what they had just touched with bare hands before mucking up my armrest with grime (and I am certain other areas such as the seat adjustment handle, exterior door handle, gear shift and steering wheel!!!! Your "technicians" should be wearing gloves during this time anyway. --quote the price as "before taxes and added fees" to the customer when notifying them of cost. I was really surprised when I was told the cost was 276.06 by phone and then the total bill (with taxes and added fees) was 321.80 (a $45.74 delta). --disinfect all touched areas within vehicles with a minimum of Clorox wipes, so the customer feels safe in their personal vehicle. --provide hand sanitizer in the building for customers. --wipe down the handles of the entry door of the service dept. (and sales dept. for that matter) between customers. --do NOT offer a communityused pen to the customer to sign paperwork. I have my own pen, thank you. --an added nicety would be to provide, at a minimum, an exterior car wash for the customer. Why not leave your customer with their car in nice shape when they make arrangements to pick up their vehicle? I made special arrangements for my car work to be performed at your shop with my insurance provider, due to the past quality of the previous, numerous recalls I had experienced (your location is outside the allowed tow radius); however, moving forward, I am confident I will NOT continue to do so The value is absolutely not there! $321.80 to replace a battery is incredibly, embarrassingly high!!!!!! Although polite personnel, the level of customer comfort during COVID-19 and the emplacement of Center of Disease Control mandates is not present at this dealership. My 2 year old Palisade is making noise that is described in service bulletin 22-SS-001H. I tell them this before I bring the car in and to have the parts on hand per the bulletin. They confirm my diagnoses and say they have to order the parts. I come back 2 weeks later and they say they can only replace one side despite the service bulletin clearly saying replace both sides. They end up replacing the wrong side and I pick up the car and it's not fixed. Took me less than 10 second to bounce on the back of the car to hear it clunk Totally incompetent and very slow. I drove from Huntsville to see a used car advertised on their site. The pics online looked great; however, the actual car was a certified piece of crap. It was covered in bird feces, the radio was smashed up, the rear end make a horrible racket, and the list goes on. The salesman also apparently can't do math, and while the sale price was $7,999, the out the door price was $10,999. There's no way on earth that taxes on the $7,999 sale would be remotely close to $3,000. Also, when I arrived, they tried to make me sign a document that said (paraphrased) "If we get you the terms you want for this car, you will buy it." How about I'll buy a car elsewhere and you can shove that document. Absolutely absurd. Who actually signs that thing?! Hard pass on this place. Do not bother with their service department. They set appointments and call repeatedly to remind you about the appointment. Once they get your car, they will keep it indefinitely without looking at it for days, and you will get no updates. Good luck trying to get an update yourself. They will put you off and offer to call you back... which they don't. If you opt to hold, they will say they are short on techs and will TRY to get to your car at some point. Run away! read more

My wife's Santa Fe's air conditioner quit working in her 2013 Santa Fe. She made arrangements to leave her vehicle on Monday morning for repair. Of course this is always an inconvenience on anyone that works. So at 5:00pm they call her and tell her the part did not come in and asked if she could leave it till Friday. They don't give loaners so of course she couldn't leave it. The disappointing issue is that at 5:00 we had to make other because they couldn't call earlier in the day. My brother and father were completely taken advantage of and were sold a 2016 Hyundai Accent w/ 25,000 Miles for $ 16,000 after financing. Trade in pathetic... Father has Alzheimer's which is noticeable if sitting in a dealership for 4 hours and brother is on the high end of Special needs believing every word sales rep presented... They get you the car you want at the payment you want, then they tell you everything is good and you sign all the agreements and contracts and you're as happy as can be!! The sales rep even went to the bank to get my proof of income....I drove the car for 8 DAYS and then they call me and tell me that the bank "decided" not to approve my loan!! So I had to take the car back and get my old car back!! After further inspection, they stole my jack, 4-way lug wrench, my mini air compressor, and 3 of my 4 floor mats! I call the GM and he won't make it right because he said I LIED about my income even though they had clear proof of what I made!! So he called me a liar and said he was done talking to me and hung up on me!! Sent my 17yr old daughter to get her oil changed and a recall taken care of as well to check on a tire for her car while I was out of town working, estimate for all the above plus wipers and an air filter was near $500, I told her to have the oil changed and to wait on the rest until I could check on the rest. This must have made the shop manager Barry angry as he went to another area and started to cuss saying that after all that shit and talking to her daddy only getting the oil changed. This made my daughter very uncomfortable and she just wanted to leave, told her mom she felt threatened. I called the dealership simply to make them aware and Hunter immediately went into defensive mode saying that didn't sound like Barry that there was a complete building between where my daughter was and where technicians would be that he didn't believe that happened essentially calling my daughter a liar, but if it did he'd address it to see that it didn't happen again. I do not recommend this dealer especially for used cars. I usually prefer to go to a branded dealer for a used car. Most dealers get rid of the junk trade ins and wholesale them out to the more shady used car lots, not this dealer...they prefer to sell junk AND apparently they think they can charge you that $8k over blue book they advertise for trade ins! Don't even bother with this place. They don't even care enough about their used car inventory to wash the cars. And they'll tell you the cars are full of bird sh*t because of the overhead power lines...sheesh guys - wash your cars! They asked what we wanted to spend 'out the door'. Made the mistake of telling them. They showed us three old pieces of junk, one of which was in such poor condition it needed a completely new paint job. The poor condition car they would give us out the door for $5k would have been valued at less than $2,400 on KBB.com IF it had been in fair condition! Amazing! And since when did car sales people stop dressing professionally? You can't even tell who is a customer and who is a sales person. Jeans and sneakers? When a customer tells you they will be paying cash for today's purchase but financing the purchase of another car in the next three months, wouldn't you do your best to ensure they come back to buy from you? I picked the vehicle up after having leather installed and am extremely pleased with it and the girl who works the service desk. Where do I begin? Their commercial to get you out to the dealership...BS! Once I got there, they never even entertained the idea of giving me "up to 8k over KBB." In fact I didn't even get full KBB because they very quickly started to show me to the used cars, which doesn't have the "Match to KBB". My old car was an '09 Chevy Impala, with every electronic gadget u could imagine except 4 backup screen. I ended up w/a striped down '13 Elantra. I like the car, but feel I got screwed! The one thing, as I look back, that I find "Very Interesting", was when I called about the deal, told them my restricted budget they quickly asked could u come up to $250 a month? I told them "No." To make a long story short, by the time I left there, 6 hrs. later, I had a $250 monthly payment! Very interesting! They wear u down, bring n multiple people 2 take over from the last guy...then EVERYTHING goes down hill. They lost my license plate, took no responsibility 4 it @ all. GM'S or whomever was n charge wouldn't even talk 2 me about some issues I had. His feet were perched up on his desk, w/out that fun loving, "quirky" guy we see on TV. They will quote you a price on the vehicle you're interested in (the Sticker Price, in my case) and will have added a few thousand more ($3,000 in my case) to the "Vehicle Price" when you sit down to actually sign the paperwork. Jerry Ray Davis, the owner, will send you emails wherein he literally gives you "his word" that he will work with you if you have an issue/problem, then will not call you back "within thirty minutes" (as he said he would five days ago) when you call him to advise him of the issue/problem you have. Again, don't buy from this dealership unless you take your lawyer with you! P.S. My credit score was/is 854, so "poor credit" was/is not a valid reason for charging $3,000 more than the Sticker Price (the price I was quoted). read more

I recently purchased a 2012 Elantra from University Hyundai. I worked out a price on the phone before making a trip. They were the only place that had a limited Elantra on the lot with back up camera and navigation. Our salesman was Cody he was very professional, just egar to make a sale. Things turned after that we spoke to the financial manager Keith, we wrote up and finalized a contract. Everything was fine so far except for the rebate. We were also offered an additional discount for my husband being a veteran, but we had to have his DD 214, we didn't have that in hand, but no problem we finished the paper work and all. We get home with our new car and enjoying it, well 3 days later we begin to get phone calls constantly from Keith saying where is my DD 214, I need it or the contract is void and your car will be repoed. Well if anyone knows about the military it takes time to get paperwork back. He also tried to say we would be accountable for the discount price. We told them we should not be responsible for not having the paper work because he knew up front we did not have it in hand. We financed through Suntrust, but wanted to refinance through USAA when we found out we got a lower rate and cheaper extended warranty. Check in to that dealers cost 2000, insurance same warranty 600 big differences. Well after finding that out we canceled the warranty and was told; that was not possible due to contract being incomplete. Well we wasn't going to be charged for someone else mistake. Make a really long story short we spoke to Luke the manager he was supposed to correct everything, but not really. He sent us a check for 1875 when it was supposed to be 2000, that's been over 2 months ago. We called them the day we got the check he said then he would fix it; like I said been 2 months we still not got the rest of the check. When we call them every time they say he is on vacation, and we get put through to Keith. We are fed up with their crap and needless to say we will not be returning our business or recommending them to anyone! read more

If you want to deal with people who falsely advertise, go to University Hyundai of Decatur. It's had to believe that they base their business on lies. I found the vehicle that I wanted on CarGuru. A new 2017 Hyunda Santa Fe. It was advertised as $31,202. when I called to see if it was on the lot, I was told by a sales person that she would have to go out and put her hand on it to be sure it was there. She came back and told me it was and wanted me to make an appt. to see it on Friday (I called on Thurs morning). I told her that I wanted to see it that day. She then told me that it wasn't there. A sales person was driving it. She told me that she'd call me on Fri and let me know when to be there. I didn't hear from her so I called mid to late morning on Fri. She wasn't even working. I asked to speak to the sales manager. They gave me to another sales person, I think. You know before getting to a sales manager, you have to work yourself up the ladder of importance!... really, wow. So this person (I won't even mention names because it's not the people low on the totem pole that drives what they do... it's most likely do it top dog's way or no way and these people probably need a job but I'm not saying I'd do that... I'd never lie for a bag of peanuts), tells me the vehicle won't be there until Monday. I asked him to verify price and he told me the same thing that the first person did... OH, we never let price keep us from a sale! (reckon who came up with that little gig)... I said, I want to verify that the price of $31,202 is correct. He said that would be right but I would have to quality for the incentives. I said so if I don't qualify for $1000 in incentives it would be $32,202 and he said that was right but I needed to talk to the internet SPECIALIST. Long story short, the internet specialist got a price from the sales manager of $33,500. When I became disgruntled, he went back to the sales manager or GM, not sure which and they said, Oh there were other incentives that I didn't qualify for... a Uber car incentive of some type. WOW. No, I wouldn't have qualified but they didn't even ask me. You get where I'm going. They merely falsely advertised trying to get me and others into the dealership. Why can't people just be honest. I have reported them to Better Business Bureau and hope that the report will keep someone in the future from the evil snares of this dealership. read more
