I've been a client of greenwich opthamology for over 30 years since I was a child. I was with the practice when it was located across the street from greenwich library and got my first pair of glasses and contacts from them. My vision is fairly challenging and Dr. Potter has been the only opthamologist I've really trusted over the course of my life. Even when I moved out of state I tried to find a way to schedule check ups when I was back in town. I'm in a crunch right now and am without glasses and tried to get some accommodation from their staff. I got stone walled trying to get my own medical information. Bella Wolf did my cataract surgery, and she is absolutely outstanding. As is everyone I've been in contact with here. I also had two appointments with Sofia Ribolla, and she is excellent as well. On all the occasions I've come in to see Dr. Wolf, I've never been kept waiting. I would not hesitate to return here for anything. This is an outstanding and well coordinated operation. Miserable experience. I was about to have an exam for a cataract procedure in the hallway (it was not even in an office) when the tech asked when I had last worn my contacts. When I said yesterday he said we can't do anything. I told him why wasn't I informed of this and he checked the notes said my voice mail inbox was full. I told him they had been sending me text messages all week why hadn't they shared this information. He kept repeating that they tried once but my voicemail was full. Btw no one else had this problem with my voicemail. No ownership of this problem, no apology. I am suggesting to my doctor who referred me that he should stop referring his patients. It makes him look bad. This is just not run like a medical facility. The Ethan Allen it shares the building with is probably better run. I will not be returning. read more

My initial impression of this practice was good. They seemed to be excellent clinically. Unfortunately, their front office is not well managed, which has left me without care despite the MD's advice that I should return for follow up. Dr. Shakarov instructed me to return in a month, but when I appeared for my appointment as scheduled I was told I could not see him for a year. They seem to have lost some of my medical records, and the front desk was quite arrogant in their unwillingness to help. This is not what I expect from a medical practice. read more

I have never once been seen at my appointment time here - I had to wait an hour and a half before being seen today. $220 and half of a day down the drain for a routine annual exam. They didn't tell me when I made the appointment that they don't take my insurance either. That is partially on me to be honest, but even their rep said "someone should have told you". As a patient you trust in this instance blepharoplasty surgeon you choose to see and the process. I followed every step of the way to be told at the beginning of the app that I should be made aware that every proceder carries risks and i might end up with irreversible, uneven eyelids and out of the blue he started saying that he will give me other doctors details to check with them because he must have judged me from the beginning by insinuating that I want a cosmetic proceder. I went speechless but I did say we are talking about my face so i asked how different is the surgery between you and private doctors. He didn't really reply much except gave me a smirk and kept writing his recommendation. I have already made my thorough research and my decision to see Dr Conway was final followed by paying for that appointment so I thought I should be patient and for a second I also got myself question if uneven eyes are somewhat natural so let me go through it. But to make things worse after i said i chose him because he takes insurance and not many surgeons do around Greenwich, he got upset and said i shouldn't want to see him for insurance only!? Then he said he doesn't make any money from this surgery as all the follow ups doesn't really get covered. i literally considered leaving during this scrutinizing speech but he carried on telling me about the potential risks associated with this surgery again ie uneven eye lids and a lot of swelling and gave me paperwork with additional information and i was left at that. The only one good thing about my appointment was the friendly assistant who gave me more positive information than the pompous doctor who had a diploma hanging on his wall from Cornell University. I actually got emotional and couldn't shake this off for the rest of the day but I'm glad he made my decision for me. I'd rather go with doctor who is more capable and confident his work isn't going to end up in shambles! I'd NOT reccomended him to anyone whether you r private let alone insurance client. read more

I am an internal medicine physician myself, unaffiliated with this group. My wife and myself go to DDR. Jerry Tsong, whom we have been most pleased with in every way. We have found his staff to be attentive, pleasant and helpful. Dr. Tsong is a very intelligent and caring doctor, and I recommend him to my patients without reservations, as I have a nearby office. The office is modern and clean, and the technologies employed are up to date. I would add that they are a bit hidden, just over the Stamford border, right next to the Ethan Allen store. Was fit in the day before New Year's Eve at 4:30. I also asked the girl on the phone if the doctor I was seeing could remove my cyst. She assured me she could. I waited 1-1/2 hrs and when I saw the doctor, she said I'd have to make an appt with another doctor for removal. All in all, a wasted visit. Dr. Davis and Dr. Tsong are fantastic, but their office staff is a joke,and unprofessional. Billing never answers the phone either. I had an examination on 01/29/2021 with Dr. Davis and seven months later the billing department still has not submitted the claim to my union insurance. I had called starting in February to find out why my insurance has not sent an EOB for that date of service?. Since February I have called at least two to three times per month to find out why billing has not submitted the claim for payment by insurance, and all I get is don't worry about it we will take care of it. I have explained this situation each time I call and the front desk says oh my god I see a ton of emails to billing about this matter, and once again I'm told it will be taken care of. So every one knows what is going on, but still nothing is done. I spoke to someone named Jennifer who I found out was the office manager on 1 July and she said she was aware of the ongoing problem and would take care of it and said the bill was submitted to my insurance 1 July. Called again on 7/20 and then again on 7/27 still nothing sent in. Finally I went to the office to speak with someone in charge, the office manager was away on vacation, so I spoke with the assistant office manager Noelle on 7/29 she pulled it up and apologized and saw the tremendous amount of notes and my calls to find out what was going on?. She told me that Dr. Davis was not on board with BC/BS yet but they would charge it to another doctor to process the claim. I watched her typing it in and she said it has been sent. This was 7/29. I waited a week and contacted my insurance plan and they said once again they have received nothing for that date of service . This was 8/9, so again I called back and they claimed it was sent, I told them nothing has been sent, my insurance has not received, processed or denied any claim for that date of service, so once again they claim to call their joke of a billing department. Again after contacting my insurance on 8/17 still no claim, so I called the office once again, and was told it will be taken care of. Called in and asked for Noelle, but she no longer is with the practice, so I spoke with Jennifer again on 8/18 informing her again that no charges for 1/29 have been received by my insurance. I was told by Jennifer that she would contact billing and find out what is going on?, and call me to follow up. still no call and noting has reached my insurance as of 8/19. Had the same problem with a bill from 2/12/21, took them three months to finally bill insurance, but the 2/10 bill was sent in immediately for Dr.Tsong. Nothing but incompetence and excuses, stay away!!. My next call will be to the doctor informing them of how their office is run, I'm disgusted. How many patients fight with billing to make sure a claim is sent in so they can get paid??. Seven months of nothing but stories and I will contact billing, obviously nobody has a clue as to what is going on or how to delegate authority and follow through. read more

Dr. Potter is amazing! My 4 year old is a brain tumor survivor whose case is specialized. We weren't happy with the specialists available in our area, so took the recommendation to try Dr. Potter even though it's a 45 minutes ride. As a Mom, I don't just feel that my son's care is on point, I feel we are proactive. Dr. Potter is amazing at keeping him calm and making his experience fun. His way with his patients is age appropriate and one that makes it easy to tell my little one that we're going to the doctor. In fact, now that he's a little he gets excited to see Dr. Potter. Plus, he always asks how I'm doing and take extra time to make sure I don't have any questions. And keeps himself in the loop as part of our overall team of doctors. I couldn't recommend him enough. read more

Great doctors. Dr Tsong and Dr Shields are fabulous. However I will never return. My MRA paid over $558 in October yet i am still getting billed in January. I have sent them the proof of payment from my account multiple times. I have talked to their office at least 4 times. They apologize and say it has been taken care of yet i receive additional bills. Dr. Tsong and Joe Forte are great. Really great. Unfortunately, the admin staff are not. Each individual person seems nice enough, but I have had billing issues the majority of the times I have went. I kept getting invoices in the mail for something I already paid for. This went on for months even though I called in to clear it up numerous times. I requested digital billing to at least reduce the junk mail which apparently isn't possible in this day and age. It's a fancy office and and overpriced, which I wouldn't feel like it was if service was stellar all around. I keep going because I haven't found better doctors and I'd rather take good care of my eyes since I haven't found anyone better in the area. But be prepared to wait around and get frustrated. read more

Highly highly highly recommend (and have to friends) Dr. Mandava. Had cataracts in both eyes done. First day after first surgery someone else drove me to follow up. Second surgery follow up, I drove myself. Firstly, when my eyes "were cleared of cataracts" I could see better than my 40 year old. Colors amazing. Clarity amazing. I had strong progressives before. Now I wear 1.75 for tiny print on computer and phone as I opted to not get the surgery where they correct to a T (possibility of streaking at night). TV No glasses. Driving no glasses. Just basic (non laser) with some sort of another pinpointing technique. TV, no glasses. Driving, no glasses. General life, no glasses. Healing time easy as pie. They combine the drops. Just set the timer on your phone. Drops easy to put in. Staff was fine in my book. read more

After receiving positive reviews of a doctor in residence there, I elected to finally bite the bullet and have the Lasik procedure performed at Greenwich Ophthalmology Assoc located in Stamford. The procedure was set for a week later, the earliest available, during which time I spent in great anticipation. The day of the process I received a call from their office informing me that I was too old (69) for it to receive it. Not two minutes later I again received a call from their office to my home, this time asking to speak with someone I had never heard of. Being less than pleased or impressed with their business practices thus far, I called and registered a complaint. I received an apology and was offered a free eye examination to make amends. I accepted their offer and and did receive a thorough examination. A week later I received a bill for the free examination. I called their office for an explanation and was told that part of the exam was free but not all. I recall being puzzled when asked for my insurance information, given that the exam was to be free, then assumed that it must be standard operational procedure and likely for any potential future treatment. Apparently this was not the case. I was told that I had been informed that I had been informed that not all of that exam was to be free. This is completely untrue. If you are in the market for a practice, inept as well as duplicitous, you now know where to find it. read more

We scheduled an appointment 6 month in advance and one week before they just canceled it without offering an other date or only 1 month and 2 weeks later with the same doctor. It's totally unacceptable. The women I was talking too, put me on hold for a while when I told her that ... and then I spoke to someone else who give me an appointment 3 days after the one scheduled initially ! So I chznged my review fron 1 to 3. Getting an appointment is still an issue with this office. read more

A Greeter at the door is a waste of time and totally useless. After asking your name and doctor, they direct you to "check in". They tell the desk your name - and the person behaving the desk asks, "what's your name?" What a poor use of personnel, time and patient satisfaction. read more

I'll agree with others that the practice mgmt and administrative process/staff needs fine tuning. On one occasion, I went in on my scheduled time (scheduled at least a week in advance) only to be told by the reception desk that I didn't have an appointment at all. Once the reception folks checked with the doctors though, I was seen right away. But now for the other side of things - the doctors and specialists. They are fantastic and for this reason I highly recommend this practice. Let me start with my general vision test that was done by a highly skilled technician, very thorough and also clearly identified components of my vision that my previous eye doctor had failed to see in years of checking my eyes. I've had many many vision tests over the past 40 years of being near-sighted, but this one was different. After my vision check, I saw Dr Conway for some problems I was having with contacts. He had terrific bedside manner, was very patient and thorough in communicating and educating me as to what was happening. It was a brief experience in which I learned a ton that my previous doctors hadn't communicated to me in years of being a patient. I can now wear contacts and understand what I need to do (and why). Now finally, Joe Forte, the contact lens specialist is AMAZING. He has a Masters Degree in Contact Lens Technology (which in my 30 years of wearing contact lenses I never knew existed). I have very difficult-to-fit eyes and it's usually a very painful process to go to a new eye doctor and try to get new lenses. This was totally different. Joe was able to quickly find the right prescription and the right lenses that we fine tuned over the course of only 2 appointments. I haven't seen this well out of my contacts in years, and it's thanks to Joe Forte. So for all of the bad press, the info about the reception desk and administration is true, but the doctors are amazing. It's clear that the doctors know about the challenges and they seem to be working on it. read more

Joe Forte, the contact specialist, is amazing. I have very difficult eyes and he is patient, knowledgeable and creative. We tried several different combos before we found one that worked for my sensitive, difficult eyes. The rest of the office is fine. Professional and available when needed. If you are going in for just an annual exam just make sure you don't agree to a test or treatment without understanding if its extra. read more

I think there are very good doctors practicing here if you actually need an ophthalmologist, but do not go here in place of a routine vision exam that can be done by an optometrist. My pediatrician recommended this office. They led me to believe that because they took medical insurance and were in network, I would be covered by my medical insurance. I then receive a bill for a very expensive routine visit. My medical insurance does not cover vision exams, so I contacted the office and was told they do not take vision insurance. I now have to pay the full bill. read more

I have been going to Greenwich Ophthalmology since I was a small child and I absolutely love the group. Dr. Densel has been my primary eye doctor for years and she is kind and gentle, always putting me at ease while sitting in her chair. Last week I had LASIK eye surgery with Dr. Mandava- phenomenal!!! The next day I was seeing better than 20/20. Not only was the procedure quick (less than 15 minutes in the procedure room) but almost completely pain free! And Dr. Mandava was one of the best doctors I have ever encountered. He was unbelievably calming and answered every question I had as a nervous patient. I have always had a pleasant experience with the staff and I would highly recommend the group as a whole. Thank you so much! read more

The wait times at this place r plain and simple unacceptable. I have been there 3 times and all three times I have waited a min of 45 min after my appointed time to be seen if not more. The last time I was there i asked after 45 min what the deal was and was told they had emergencies that day ( was told the same excuse the previous 2 times ) and it would still be a while. I liked the doctor but I will never go back. If you don't have a life and like to spend your days in the waiting room this is the place to go. read more

The eye exam was a fine experience. However, I was led to believe that my insurance was accepted which was not true. This led to a large out of pocket bill for a routine eye exam with a few precautionary tests even though I do not even wear glasses. read more

Beware! I had an appt. at 10AM to see Dr. Mandava for cataracts and other eyesight-related issues. Numbed and dilated, I sat and I sat some more. I finally left at 11:35! Still no Dr. Mandava! No one had te courtesy to inform me of any delay! Apparently, Dr. Mandava has poor time management skills ( who knows what else!). Thanks to Doctor Suresh Mandava at seventy-one my vision is the best it has ever been. Doctor Mondava recommended a lens that would improve the vision in my left eye that was weak since my earliest memory. With the new lens and the removal of my advanced cataracts the result is extraordinary. It has opened up a whole new world to me. I could not be more pleased and grateful. Best experience with any Dr. ever ! Dr. Mandava came highly recommended when I began to explore LASIK eye surgery. The entire process, start to finish, could not have been better. The staff is so friendly and helpful, the office is pristine and Dr. Mandava clearly has only your best interest in mind. He is incredibly kind and thorough. I was thrilled to be a candidate and followed his directions pre and post surgery. The procedure itself was made as enjoyable as possible and I had zero doubts about putting my vision in the hands of Dr. Mandava and the staff at Greenwich Opthamology - I will continue to recommend them to anyone who needs an eye doctor or is considering LASIK. Seems like a grand operation, with several eye specialists and administrative staff. Doctors may be top notch (from top schools) however, I could not help but feel like I was just part of a factory working in an assembly line, even though I was a patient. I had specific problems after a vitrectony -a major eye surgery-but doctor says, well, all tests show you are fine so you have NO problem. If that is indeed the case, I would have saved myself $400 and half a day. Doctor's compassion for patient is zero. I will not go back. read more

I recently had my first eye appointment with Dr.Tsong. It was such a positive experience. He listened carefully, asked pertinent questions, then proceeded to ask additional questions. Bottom line Dr. Tsong wasn't letting anything slip by. He examined my eyes and came to a conclusion that not only involved my eyes, but the rest of my body. A follow up with my GP agreed with Dr.Tsong. Dr. Tsong is brilliant! read more
