I will start by saying, Dr. Varallo has a great chair side manor, and is very personable, but that doesn't make up for what has happened. I am being as detailed as I can be as to warn others to really, really do their research. Midway through the projected treatment time I started to get nervous. I constantly had to remind him what my "end goal" was and once I got a comment of "Oh, I would have done things differently from the beginning if I knew that".. My goal was clear at the beginning. When we were almost done treatment I was told that my bottom teeth were done.. While still being very crooked. If I didn't mention anything they would have been left like that! I, with no dental training, had to ask for a bracket reposition, Thanks internet! At this point I was very unhappy and afraid I wouldn't be happy with my results. I confided in the assistant multiple times to let her know I was not happy. (Please note that my anger is with the office manager and Dr. Varallo.. The assistants that I have personally worked with, Ashley and Sandra) were really kind.) The braces were removed and I made it clear I was pretty unhappy, (so much so I teared up when I saw them without the brackets on for the first time) with the results and nothing was said or done. Literally nothing. I thought I was just being a little picky, but Fast forward to a trip to my regular dentist for a cleaning, I was asked if I had finished my treatment with Dr. Varallo... My crossbite (effects my TMJ) and midline were never fixed or even attempted to be fixed. My front six teeth are uneven some being higher than others, and now after nearly two years I am starting from square one again. When I expressed how unhappy I was with the office manager she let me know Dr. Varallo went over "the limitations as to what he could do". I was then told by Denise (OM), that Dr. Varallo would not see me during business hours and if I wanted to talk about it, I could go in before the office opened, or during a lunch break, but those times were not an option for me at all, as they were in the middle of drop off and pickup for school. I have now been to a few orthos in the area and have gotten consults and exams. ALL of them have said more could have been done to get a much better outcome not only cosmetically (my main goal was to widen my smile and I was told unanimously that more could be done while Dr. Varallo said no more could possibly be done) and to fix my bite. I am back at square one and about to start treatment again. *Edited to add, Dr. Varallo never reached out or acknowledged that I was upset or dissatisfied with my outcome. NOT ONCE. Owning a small business and knowing first hand how word of mouth is really how you get business, that shocked me. And he seemed like such a nice guy who genuinely cared. After he was informed of the yelp review, he sent an email asking if my niece was going to continue her treatment here after "I lost trust in his practice" he then smugly offered to refund HER entire treatment cost while not mentioning a thing about to try and make things right with me. He did not even apologize or try to make it right. I sent a follow up email and it went unanswered. He did this knowing I had seen other orthos and have to redo treatment. I am willing to share all other orthos findings and new treatment plan privately with anyone who wishes, as I hope that this beer happens to anyone else. As an adult patient, I can not even begin to tell you how stressful this whole process was. From taking tons and tons of time off work (I was told at my consult they were open mornings, then found out they don't do morning adjustments those are for "long appointments", to now having to hire a lawyer to get my money refunded so I can go spend another two years fixing issues, I am not only frustrated, but could be out well over $6000. I truly, truly urge you to get multiple consults and to think on this decision as it could be extremely costly and time consuming.

Was not impressed with him- His over tanned , over whitened veneer riddened smile made me feel like he was pushing for a reality show. Just because you are talking with me (and I cant stand when the clinician just calls me 'Mom' - you HAVE my name) doesnt mean you need to keep flashing YOUR smile at me- I get you 'do teeth' for a living. He was REALLY pushy about 'starting right away and 'how would I pay for this?' - ' would his father being helping to pay? -even my son said (after we left) he felt like the 'orthodontist wanted to just take your money mom' We never used his services and went to Dr Fertman instead (LOVE HIM). We STILL get birthday cards for my son AND automated messages from the office - WE NEVER USED THEM! Argh!!!!!! Please stop! Oh and Dr Fertmans estimate was MUCH less expensive and my sons teeth look amazing.

My daughter's teeth went from snaggly and weird (teeth growing on top of teeth) to perfect in just a few years. His price was fair, his payment plan workable, and his rapport with kids and parents just an unbelievable thing to experience. When I asked him one question about one wire, his eyes lit up and he said "Do you want to see?" He led me back into the lab and showed me all about making braces. Look, braces are expensive and at times their painful. That said, our family misses our visits to Dr. Fertman.

Braces is one of those thing that forces you to have a long term relationship with your dentist, as the process takes a long time. It is important to weight in a lot of other factor (can you work with the dentist and staff at the office in the long run, communication, how well they listen to your concern, care and attention to details..etc) rather than just upfront cost itself when selecting your dentist. She had to work on aligning my jaw for 6 months before I could even get braces. She was very caring and was endlessly patient with my sensitive mouth. Her staff is very well trained and are friendly and delightful. Whenever I had a problem, I was able to get an appointment within a few days. I am an older adult but I saw that she and her staff worked very well with the middle school age group and their parents. I am very happy that she not only gave me a lovelier smile, but also solved the pain issues I was having.
