I walked into this lovely salon looking for help with my stressed, troubled hair. I wanted it to grow longer but that wasn't working out very well. My hair looked stringy and dry though I use very good products and am careful with it. I had a terrible experience with a Keratin treatment and I was at my wits end. I was introduced to Erin and she evaluated the condition of my hair and made valid suggestions. I agreed with her assessment and we got down to business. First Erin colored my hair a rich brown and she also applied a glaze for shine. After the color, Erin got to work on the cut. Off came the dead ends and before I knew it I was transformed. I love the color and cut and promptly made another appointment. Thank you, Erin, for making my hair lovely again! I look forward to my next appointment in 4 weeks! read more

Don't come here if you have curly hair. Tony chopped 5-7 inches off my hair a week before my wedding. I requested no more than 2 inches explaining that even with dead ends I needed to keep the length. It was needed for the updo I planned to do. I had planned to come back in a few weeks after my honeymoon for the "summer chop". I have courser hair that looked just fine if I styled it and oiled the ends. My hair is deceiving when its wet. Which is why I only go to Quidad to cut my curly hair. When going here Tony took it upon himself to cut nearly 6 inches off my hair without asking. I left my appointment nauseous. He even gave me short layers when I didn't ask for them as I keep my layers longer. It is very unprofessional to cut that much hair off of anyone without their expressed consent. I don't believe Quidad should be affiliated with this salon if he is the only stylist that offers that type of hair cut service. The rest of the staff is pleasant and I had great service from them. But I would not get a haircut from Tony. read more

Greg & Tony's is a fantastic salon on the Post Road in Westport. They will cut your hair for free if you are donating to "Locks of Love." The organization makes wigs for leukemia patients from donated hair. If you have 10 inches of hair that hasn't been dyed you can donate it :) Visit locksoflove.org for participating salons in your area. Greg and Tony's is a pricey salon, but you are paying for a great atmosphere and an excellent style. Walking in to Greg & Tony's a friendly staffer offered me tea or coffee where I sipped and perused magazines of hairstyles. Everyone was very encouraging about my hair donation. My favorite stylist there is a man named Jason. He gave me the best cut of my life! I got a Rihanna inspired cut with long bangs in the front and a short boy cut in the back, classy and funky at the same time. For all you curly haired people- Greg and Tony's is the place for you! They have "Ouidad" cuts which are perfect for curly hair, where they cut into the curls to avoid the "pyramid" of hair problem that I had with thick curly hair. I have had two cuts here and my sisters have had another five. I recommend it to everyone I know... enjoy! read more

I have been to this salon several times. I guess I deserve what I get. This time I had hair color by Darlene, which worked out very well. However, she suggested that I do a glaze and/or a deep treatment. I never really gave her permission to do either one, but she ordered them to be done anyway. My hair color came out nice. Then I had booked a haircut with Tony, the head stylist. I had decided to treat myself to "the best." He discussed my hair prior to cutting. The haircut looks good, but he cannot blow dry at all!! I guess he is not known for being able to blow out curly hair because another stylist ran over and started to blow dry the left side of my head while I watched in horror the frizzy mess that was forming on the side of hair that he was blow drying. When I told him it looked too frizzy and was not blown out enough, he told me that he didn't want to dry it to a crisp. When I went up to pay the receptionist, I let her know that I was not happy with the blow dry job. The stylist who had helped dry the left side of my head was standing there and offered to blow out the right side. I have never experienced anything like this before...and I am vowing to never go there again!! The salon is very attractive, but I don't see that my hair is as attractive as the big price I pay there. I always see people leaving with attractive styles, but that does not seem to be the case for me. Decor is nice. Hair is not. read more

There is a weird vibe here- really unprofessional. More than once I've been privy to salon bickering between employees and it has affected the quality of my services (which were never all that reliable to begin with). Management is disorganized as well. Not a fan of this pretentious salon that can't back up their prices and attitude with good work. The handful of times they forgot my appointment or kept me waiting for over an hour they never made it right. Customer service here is virtually nonexistent. One of the leathery owners floats around judging/commenting on customers looks in a derogatory way. It's bizarre. Instead of feeling like you've been pampered, the negative chaotic atmosphere leaves you feeling exhausted on your way out. read more

I have no idea why this place has such bad reviews on here! Small (long story short) back story here: 6 years ago I ended up with a 2nd degree burn from a curling iron from my hairdresser of 10 years, and since then have been using groupon after groupon trying to find another one. I'm not big on huge changes in length and dying, usually the most I'm in for is a simple trim and shape up. Finally I found Greg & Tony. Nana was my hairdresser and oh my goodness she did such an incredible job! Like really the best haircut I've ever had. She trimmed all the dead ends without sacrificing much length and perfectly shaped my hair to frame my face. This was back in February and I just booked my second cut with her! I started going to Greg & Tony because of Ivonne. Waxing with Ivonne is definitely 5+ stars. She is kind and knows what she's doing. I went to Tony for a Ouidad cut. The cut was great, but he is arrogant and seems to enjoy talking to everyone else but me. Normally, I wouldn't care, but since I'm paying $130+ for a cut, I would expect someone to at least engage me in a conversation and talk less about themselves. I stopped going to him and now go to Teri. She is phenomenal and very personable. I would also rate her 5+ stars. I like that she doesn't try to push a lot of expensive products on you. I have never had a service with Daianny (sp?) and, from the way she has treated me, never will. She is rude and doesn't even crack a smile when you smile at her or say hello. I don't know how someone in this kind of business can get by with such a poor attitude. Other staff is very friendly though. Overall: 5+ stars for Ivonne and Teri. read more

I have always heard great things about Ivonne but left her very disappointed. I went in for an eyebrow wax but she saw my eyebrows and noticed that the coloring was uneven so offered to even it out. She proceeded to dye my eyebrows black (I am very pale with previously light brown/blond brows) and then shape them. She shaped them to be perfectly even but when I told her my brows were far too dark and I did not want to change the color, she spent over an hour putting differwnt dyes and dye removal on my brows that were completely useless. She clearly had no idea what she was doing and I now have to go to another salon to pay for my eyebrows to be fixed. NEVER let Ivonne color your brows even if she asks. I am extremely disappointed. I shouldn't have had to pay for someone to ruin my eyebrows and now have to go out of my way and pay even more money to fix my brows elsewhere. This has been extremely disappointing. read more

Worst hair cut of my life !!!! Went here little over a year ago and had to get extensions to fill in the horrendous haircut I received !!!! Not only that but halfway through the guy at the desk walked over during my haircut asking me to pay now - who pays for a haircut while getting a haircut !!?!?!!?!!! I'm only reviewing this place because the waxing is by far the best ANYWHERE. Yvonne is absolutely incredible and I will travel far and pay anything to use her (not because I'm abnormally hairy, but she really just does the best job). I used her when she was at Derma Clinic, then followed her to Riverside Spa, and now here. I will gladly cough up the $19 + tax for an eyebrow wax. She's unbeatable--trust me! I wait to come home from Atlanta to see her! Very clean as well. read more

Three stars because friends and family think it looks good, even though I don't like how it turned out. I got Ouidad-ed, which I really didn't want. If this is what you want, and you don't mind dropping significant dollars here, then go for it. I guess I should have expected that they would only do this one thing with curly hair, but considering that they do cut other types of hair, I did not realize this was my only option. I have thick-curling hair, and I like my curls the way they are naturally. I told the stylist that I just wanted things neatened up. No, I did not want my hair to be lighter, thinner or airier. I just wanted it to be a little less scraggly. She did say she was going to help get rid of some of the frizz, which would have been nice, but then she immediately started cutting into my nice thick curls to thin things out! When I asked what she was doing, she showed me, but by then it was too late to turn back. She was very enthusiastically doing exactly what I said I didn't want. She finished by loading my hair up with gel, such that I left with crunchy hair. It was still crunchy six hours later, so I just washed it out, but overall this experience was not worth the very high price. A week later, I can see what she did was exactly what she said she was going to do, and if that were what I wanted, it would be good. But if she had listened to me, she probably could have done what I wanted, and that would have been even better. The verdict is still out on the frizz reduction. I just can't tell if it worked, but I do notice that I have more thinner curls that are made up of frizz. It's not my cup of tea. Staff were friendly, and the place is clean. read more

Okay so here is the update as promised: Today we went back to the Salon for our "corrective color" on my daughters hair. Diannie, Worked on the blue, green and grey and it took about three hours. She was uplifting, encouraging and positive through the whole process. The hair was stripped and then highlighted and then toned. Her hair came out blonde, shiny, and gorgeous. It was such a surprise. Only a true artist could have turned the whole thing around in one treatment. Diannie is now the best colorist ever, in my estimation. Then at the checkout. Diannie, deducted the initial salon visit cost from the total today. That was another unexpected bonus. The moral of this review is that it's important to give people the chance to "right the wrong". It took a lot of guts to walk back in there today with my daughter and hope that I was making the right decision to give them an opportunity to fix this. I'm glad I did. I hope this update encourages everyone during this holiday season... read more

I don't usually write negative reviews- I prefer to compliment a good business rather than criticize a poor one. I can't help it this time. It was my first visit to this salon. I give the salon 2 stars because it does some things well. The space itself is very nice and the appointment and check-in staff were very friendly and organized. I got an appointment quickly. My stylist, though, is another story. Sylvana was clearly disinterested in what she was doing from the first moment I arrived. I sat down and she told me what she was going to do, not what I was looking to have done. When I added a suggestion, she said, "No, that's not what I'm going to do." Um, whaa? Luckily I'm a guy and there isn't TOO much you can do but when I say I don't want a short haircut and you insist that's what you're going to do, we have a problem. During my hair wash, the water was SCALDING hot and she didn't check it before she put it on my scalp. Awesome. Thanks for that. For my haircut, I'm not used to people using clippers on my hair. (I sort of think it's lazy). Either way, no problem, I guess, when she whips out the clippers. I ask her what number of clip she's using and her snappy, defensive response was, "I've done this many times before, I know what I'm doing." Yeah, I wasn't correcting you, I was asking what number you were using so I knew if they were used again. When I asked if she had to use the clippers because I preferred a scissor haircut, she said, "No, this is easier." The outcome was fine. Not great but fine. Then she "styled" it by putting in far too much product and it looked pretty bad. When I tried to fix it a little, she said, "No, don't do that." Lastly, checking out, they didn't ask if I wanted to book my next appointment. Haven't you seen Tabatha's Salon Takeover?! Summary: the space is nice and the appointment/front desk staff are really professional. Sylvana the stylist, however, was rude, defensive, and didn't care to listen to her client. My review is two-fold. The first part, the waxing, gets 5 stars. Ivonne is really amazing! I found her on here and I love her! She is great and really a master at waxing, especially eyebrows. I have never been so happy with my brows. She's also really friendly and approachable. She knows when to talk and when to leave you alone. Love her!! The other side of my review is for haircuts. I've gotten my hair cut twice here because I was seeing Ivonne and needed a cut. Both times, I was dissatisfied. The first time I saw Erica and she was just snooty. Got a really bad vibe from her. The second time, I saw Penny. She was nice and approachable, but I wasn't happy with my cut. I repeatedly said I wanted blended layers and NOT choppy layers because I never "style' my hair. But that's exactly what I ended up with. I went back the next day and she did make it a bit better, but I felt like she was blaming me when I feel was very clear about what I wanted (and what I didn't want). I also get a snobby vibe from the hairstyling area in general (although the receptionist is great). I won't be going there for haircuts anymore. Not to mention, it's overpriced! I can't speak for color or styling, but I'm not pleased with the haircuts. read more

I can't say enough about the waxing specialist, Ivonne. She has been waxing my eyebrows since I was thirteen and have been going to her ever since. Upon living in MA for the last 5 years, I still travel home to CT every two-three weeks specifically for Ivonne's services. She is thorough, accurate, and always achieves the exact, clean shape I need for my brows. I walk out of the salon feeling like a new person each and every time. Ivonne is just as warm and comforting as she is talented, and anyone would be lucky to be her client. read more

I moved to CT about 4 years ago and needed to find a salon that wasn't afraid to work with my crazy curls. I have gone to a million other salons that have no idea how to properly treat and style curls, and the one thing I can say is - if you have curly hair, give Greg and Tony's a shot. I have been going to Daianny, and she is the best!! The prices are a bit steep, but I only get my hair cut a few times a year, so it's worth it. I was looking for a salon that specializes in curls. I would drive a long way (and I did) for a good experience. I went in for a root touch up. The receptionist was nice at first and she took me into a room where I put my cape on, with the option of removing my shirt. I get it, but still found that strange. Anyway, moving on. The color applying area was very nice with lots of light which I thought was really cool. I'm not looking to bash anyone so I'm not going to mention who did my hair. We had pleasant conversation and she put my color on and a few foils (flash back to high school). So she washed and, I guess, conditioned my hair. Didn't tell me which products she was using and my hair felt like straw after we were done. I knew I had to dry my own hair and she asked me if I wanted a styling product...I told her gel and she brought me cream. I flagged down the receptionist and she found some gel for me. Then my colorist came by and I asked her if she used conditioner in my hair and she said he did. She also said "oh let me get you my dryer with the nozzle". Now I assumed she looked at me while putting my color on. My hair is curly and I wear it that way...why would I need a nozzle when I had a diffuser? I just feel awkward drying my own hair in a salon but didn't want to pay extra for a "style". I dried my hair for a few minutes and decide to leave. Now I go to check out and I ask why my $70 root touch up turned into $150 (really and I couldn't even sit under the dryer?) and this is when the receptionist started getting an attitude. Gee how dare I question an $80 difference. I did get a few highlights and a glaze...this was the price difference. I think one mistake I made was from now on whenever I go to a salon, I'm going to insist on having someone with curly hair do my hair. It won't be this salon though. I really question if they know how to deal with curly hair. read more

Name another salon anywhere that rents space to potential competitors and you'll see what makes Greg & Tony shine like the mane of a thoroughbred. Anyone who's been having their hair done in Westport for more than a couple years has no doubt seen the same stylists come and go from one salon to another and back again, like dying Soap Opera characters who make miraculous come backs as long long twins. The staff at Greg & Tony is remarkably consistent for this area, especially the "front of the house". The ladies working the reception area are pleasant, efficient, no-nonsense and unpretentious. Ever go into a salon willing to cough up top dollar for a hair cut and get the feeling the receptionist thinks she's too good to get you a smock? Well, you will never have this problem at Greg & Tony. The atmosphere is friendly, the staff professional, and the services are as good as or better than anywhere else in town. The Ouidad cuts are a godsend for women with textured hair who don't want to schlep to the city for a slice and dice cut. Tony is not only an expert technician. He also knows that the secret to a successful curly style has as much to do with how you treat it as how you cut it. So his post-cut tutorial is invaluable. Plus he doesn't push product. The Ouidad product line is great, however. I have yet to find another curly haired line that is as consistently well-suited to curly hair as the Ouidad products are across the board. Another bonus here is the expert European waxing provided by Yvonne upstairs. Yvonne will talk you through a scorched earth Brazilian bikini wax like she's reading you nursery rhymes. Plus the results are great and you will never have that "did I just pay someone to yank out all my pubic hair by the roots" awkward feeling afterwards. read more

Love this Salon. I just moved to CT and I wasn't sure anyone would be able to replace my hair salon in Brooklyn. I must say, I was surprisingly wrong. I love Erin she is amazing to say the very least. I go here weekly and yes they are a bit higher in price then my old salon in Brooklyn, but well worth the money and for great hair I don't mind paying a bit more. I bought a Groupon for a cut, wash and blow out and I was not going to let them cut my hair but Erin did a trim and my hair looks healthier and amazing. I am going to do extensions with her bc well she is amazing and I have wanted to try them for a bit now so what the heck. The people there are so nice and I go in the morning when it is nice and quite but, they fill up fast by 10:30 11am every seat is filled. The decor is very nice by far the best I have seen. I would never recommend Ouidad to anybody, especially a curly haired gal! I went to Ayrica, who was extremely unprofessional, and after she was done cutting, I asked her to blow out my hair. I have extremely curly hair and the best part of getting a hair cut is the blow out afterwards! However, Ayrica REFUSED to blow out my hair! Excuse me, but if I'm paying $110 for a haircut that takes 20 minutes, I want my blown out! She refused to blow out my hair and I walked out of the salon with HARD, CRUNCHY, UNATTRACTIVE curls. I will never go to Ouidad again, and I don't recommend Ouidad; the customer is paying and the customer should get what he/she wants, and Ouidad does not believe that. read more

I'm giving 2 stars, not based on skill. Tony is a great hair stylist if that's what you want. He definitely knows how to cut curly hair and I would recommend him. However, when you go there definitely expect that the stylists are going to do their own thing rather than listen to what you're looking for. If you don't have specific ideas about what you want, then this place is for you. Also, they charge a ridiculous amount of $$. The plus side is that the hair products are amazing though, but you can buy it online too for cheaper, too. read more

I expected a lot more from this salon. I came in with a groupon because I am new to the area, I figured I'd find a hair salon this way. Narrow down my options. FYI, don't use groupons for your hair-- you won't get the same service. I left the salon with some nice highlights but the wash out was 1 minute at most, and she didn't wash out all the dye. I have some crusty dried bleach spots leftover from the foils underneath my hair! She didn't use any product to smoothen it or give it sheen. Just dry, basic hair with fly-aways going very direction. Was disappointed in my "$300" value new do. I could have done this myself. The highlights aren't even at the root of my hair. Two stars for appearance. The place is gorgeous. You feel like you're at a world class salon. What a buzzkill. read more

I had two haircuts there, and both were the worst I have ever gotten. Two different hairstylists. Maybe they hire trainees? First time she did the back well, but the top and sides, I could do nothing with. I was using a Groupon, so, I went back again anyway. Next I had someone else who would pretend to cut, but, she cut next to nothing off. I don't know what that was all about. Really, I wish I know what goes on there as it is a nice environment and the folks are friendly and all but they are not real skilled. read more
