Vern Wallace has been friendly to our whole family. Vern is approachable. He also is very family oriented. I do think Vern is a business man and is serious when he needs to be.

I had a root canal done yesterday, my son came over to check on me, assist if needed, and just catch up. He ended up staying over and left his car parked in front of my house. The next morning , it was gone. Nothing left anywhere as far as a notification or anything. First thoughts obviously that it was stolen. Then he mentioned it was parked on the street. I thought, surely not, but yep, one phone call confirmed the sleazy tow truck company picked it up. I called and spoke to one of the heartless thieves. I got the ' too bad, so sad' but you better have $274.97 if you want it back. You must be the owner and your name must be on that credit card that they are somehow legally able to steal money from. These people are fleecing the elderly, and perhaps others. They did not honor their word, they did not honor the contract they signed, they did not answer demand(s) for payment, they did not answer the attorney's demand(s) or attempts at contact, they did not respond to the court/judge, they did not pay what they owe, and a default judgment was obtained. Sellers, buyers, those in general, you need to give serious consideration to the type of people you are dealing with and ask yourself if you want to be the next victim of their scam. Again, this is a true story based on personal experience. BEWARE! ********************************** 6/18/24 This is a legitimate review and factual account of the services contracted with The Auction Group aka Liquestate. Unfortunately, not a good experience. Please do read on. Through a referral (you know who you are), services were contracted February 2024 for the estate sale of an 81 yr old recent widow. These services transpired with separate sales continuing through April 6, 2024. Items included vehicles, guns, jewelry, tools, any and all household goods, etc., for a complete liquidation and relocation to live with relatives. The whole family participated in these services Felina Hill, Steven Hill, their children Josh Hill, Savannah Hill, and two other minor children along with a few workers to help out. Seemed very nice in the beginning. April 6, 2024 The Auction Group aka Liquestate provided two separate payments for the first two sales via check. These checks bounced immediately! For those who doubt this, copies have been included in this review. As of this writing, they have not made good on the money they owe, and they owe a considerable amount (the bounced checks are not even half of what they owe, total $29,000). Various reasons and excuses have been made along the way, but still they have not made this grieving widow whole. A civil lawsuit is underway for their breach of contract and deceptive business practices as well as criminal charges being filed for the felony fraud they committed intentionally writing hot checks of these amounts. They claim to be licensed auctioneers, and a complaint will be lodged with the appropriate licensing board. Sellers, do you really want to put yourselves through this at a time which you are likely most vulnerable in your life? Trust me, you do not. Buyers, you are essentially buying and are in possession of stolen property. You need to be aware of this and aware of the type of people you are buying from. There is no legitimate reason for not paying the seller what they are contractually owed. The sale has been made and the money is collected before the buyers pick up their items. They are keeping your money! In the least, they are grossly mismanaging your money robbing Peter to pay Paul so to speak, delaying any payments along the way, having to hold subsequent sales to pay for the earlier sales. It's quite the scam. I would strongly urge anyone considering doing business with or even associating with these people to stay clear. These people simply cannot be trusted!!! Short story: I probably won't purchase from them again…read more Long story: I bid on a few lots through one of their online auctions. I am local, but I wasn't able to go to the preview, so I relied on the photos of the items. This will come up again later. When the auction ended, the items were marked with an ambiguous message "you may have won" and since there was also a live auction, I assumed others may have been bidding, so I waited to be contacted. In the auction agreement, it states you will be notified by phone the next day if you win. I never received a call or email, but for the next week or so, I kept checking and the items still said "you may have won." I thought perhaps they needed more time to catalogue things, so I waited. Finally, I called and spoke to someone named Kay, who told me she had emailed me (again, the site says you will be notified with a phone call). Regardless, I did not receive an email, and it was not in my junk mail either. Kay told me I must be mistaken, and even insinuated I was lying or being dishonest. She never apologized and acted like I was in the wrong the entire time. She was extremely rude over the phone. I was willing to look past this (everyone has bad days) and went to pick up my items. When I arrived, I spoke to a man, I think he might either own the auction house or at least be in charge. I was really disappointed to find that all of the items I purchased were in much worse condition than shown in the photos. For example, a lot of purses showed several photos that made them look like they were in good condition, when in reality, the insides were torn up and awful. This man, no doubt aware that I had gotten a horrible deal, told me that I had actually gotten a really GOOD deal, and the lot was "at least $10,000 worth of purses." That wasn't even close to being correct. They were all garbage, and I ended up having to throw almost all of them away as most weren't salvageable or were cheap "made in China" bags. I have no idea why he felt the need to lie to me. It really left me with a bad impression. Another example was a small Chinese screen I purchased. Only the front was shown in the photos, but when I picked up the item, the back was completely ripped up. When I complained about this, the man said, "Oh, people usually hang these on the wall, so the back doesn't matter." Overall, I was extremely disappointed in my experience there. I probably won't purchase again, but if I do, I will be very careful. I would suggest other buyers beware and exercise caution when dealing with Lewis & Maese.
