Home town restaurant with Excellent food and service. Breakfast is served all day. The best biscuits and sausage gravy

I really liked this place. It was super cute. Small little area great service we were seated immediately and close to closing time. Our waitress was on point. The food was subpar. What disappointed me and threw me for a loop was that the bacon is already cooked microwavable bacon. I honestly have had enough with these restaurants that are serving cooked microwavable, bacon and charging $3.99 for it. If you want to charge $3.99 for three pieces of bacon, it better start being fucking real bacon. I am now walking into restaurants and flat out asking them if it's the microwavable pre-cooked bacon or if it's real raw bacon before they even think about charging me that much. It doesn't happen much in restaurants, but I noticed that I haven't said anything when I do find that they serve it and I'm not doing that shit anymore. Other than that, like I said, everything else was subpar the home fries were cooked well and were seasoned pretty well. The eggs were subpar just your standard eggs. The kiddo loved her hot cake and sausage. She did mention the same thing about the bacon. other than that like I said service was great. Definitely noticed a lot of the waitresses like to gossip but they were all really sweet, but I guess that's what we all do at work. Also, this is for anybody that reads this that goes to any restaurant start keeping an eye on your freaking children. When we were in there, we kept noticing that there was a child that was literally just walking around, touching every single freaking table that was vacant and cleaned, and the parents weren't doing a damn thing about it, but touching all over each other and ignoring their children, and the dad spent the majority of his time on his phone. Be a better parent and engage with your children and keep an eye on your children and again that part does not affect the rate of this restaurant. read more

12/28/2025 as soon as we turned the street we started smelling bacon. What a wonderful smell, isn't it? The restaurant was very busy on a Sunday morning. We were seated within a few minutes. I ordered the number one, which was two eggs, two bacon, biscuit and grits. You do have options, but those are the ones I chose. My husband ordered the corn beef omelette, biscuit, and potatoes. The plate really doesn't have much flavor so you definitely have to use condiments for all the items. We did order two blueberry pancakes. They were good. We will try this place again maybe for lunch to did have some tasty items on the menu.. read more

No frills country diner. Service is great, and for the price in 2024 (pretty much everything is under $10) you can't beat it. Again, nothing is going to blow you away. Good pancakes. Nice syrup. Real butter that wasn't a solid brick from the fridge that most places give you that won't spread nor melt! No! Their butter melts! The pancake stayed hot, too! Chef can definitely cook eggs! I always choose the hard one to make over medium. Perfect! read more

Amazingggg breakfast. My girlfriend and I went there for the first time this morning. We are visiting from Texas so I had to try the chicken fried steak with eggs and grits. CFS was so good and the gravy was chefs kiss. Next time I'm gonna add some cheese to my grits but overall REALLY good food, tasted extremely fresh, shout-out to the cook! The hash brown casserole is also a must try along with their hotcakes. Strong coffee and some of the best service I've ever received. As a bartender myself I'm not just blowing smoke those women were RUNNING that restaurant is so lucky to have such an amazing team. We will make this a staple every time we visit. read more

Me and my wife stopped in last week. The staff was polite. As we waited for our food, the dining area filled with locals. The room quickly filled with laughter and everyone knew exactly what they wanted. Our plates arrived. Our portion were filling and the food was great. The biscuit was fresh and flaky. Ordered "homemade meal" of country fried steak with mashed potatoes and baked beans. Asked for white gravy. Everything came with brown gravy and all instant and from a can or bag. Not a lot to choose from regarding restaurants in Umatilla but the Mason Jar would be a better choice. Overpriced (although not really expensive) and I agree with Stephanie's friends - the food tasted like frozen or canned entrees. Not bad - but not good either. read more

Damn that was good. We always enjoy going to Greg's Haystack in Umatilla. Yes it is a Mom and Pop diner. The staff are local people cooking and serving local customers (not to say out of towners are not welcome). The breakfast food is great and they have the best hamburgers around. The waitress are always on top of things and the food is cooked when ordered not sitting around all day. read more
