Home town restaurant with Excellent food and service. Breakfast is served all day. The best biscuits and sausage gravy

12/28/2025 as soon as we turned the street we started smelling bacon. What a wonderful smell, isn't it? The restaurant was very busy on a Sunday morning. We were seated within a few minutes. I ordered the number one, which was two eggs, two bacon, biscuit and grits. You do have options, but those are the ones I chose. My husband ordered the corn beef omelette, biscuit, and potatoes. The plate really doesn't have much flavor so you definitely have to use condiments for all the items. We did order two blueberry pancakes. They were good. We will try this place again maybe for lunch to did have some tasty items on the menu.. read more

Lots of money for a sub-par food. Menu on the wall. Place looks dirty. And food was not that good. what a disappointment.

No frills country diner. Service is great, and for the price in 2024 (pretty much everything is under $10) you can't beat it. Again, nothing is going to blow you away. Good pancakes. Nice syrup. Real butter that wasn't a solid brick from the fridge that most places give you that won't spread nor melt! No! Their butter melts! The pancake stayed hot, too! Chef can definitely cook eggs! I always choose the hard one to make over medium. Perfect! read more

Amazingggg breakfast. My girlfriend and I went there for the first time this morning. We are visiting from Texas so I had to try the chicken fried steak with eggs and grits. CFS was so good and the gravy was chefs kiss. Next time I'm gonna add some cheese to my grits but overall REALLY good food, tasted extremely fresh, shout-out to the cook! The hash brown casserole is also a must try along with their hotcakes. Strong coffee and some of the best service I've ever received. As a bartender myself I'm not just blowing smoke those women were RUNNING that restaurant is so lucky to have such an amazing team. We will make this a staple every time we visit. read more

Me and my wife stopped in last week. The staff was polite. As we waited for our food, the dining area filled with locals. The room quickly filled with laughter and everyone knew exactly what they wanted. Our plates arrived. Our portion were filling and the food was great. The biscuit was fresh and flaky. Ordered "homemade meal" of country fried steak with mashed potatoes and baked beans. Asked for white gravy. Everything came with brown gravy and all instant and from a can or bag. Coleslaw aas so dry it wasnt worth eating. No wonder all the locals ordered bugers and fries! So much for "homemade"! read more

Terrible food. Terrible service. Wait staff had long hair flying all over afraid i ate some in what little i ate of my meal. Hard ro believe you could ruin a breakfast. Not a lot to choose from regarding restaurants in Umatilla but the Mason Jar would be a better choice. Overpriced (although not really expensive) and I agree with Stephanie's friends - the food tasted like frozen or canned entrees. Not bad - but not good either. read more

I ordered a burrito today. 1/2 cup chili on a tortilla. I asked why there was not lettuce, tomatoes , sour cream, salsa; anything. She said "you didn't ask for it"!!! Taco Bell would have been much better. read more

Damn that was good. We always enjoy going to Greg's Haystack in Umatilla. Yes it is a Mom and Pop diner. The staff are local people cooking and serving local customers (not to say out of towners are not welcome). The breakfast food is great and they have the best hamburgers around. The waitress are always on top of things and the food is cooked when ordered not sitting around all day. read more
