Dr gerbino operated on my right knee that had a torn meniscus in July of 2014. I was back to work one month after the surgery and back to all my sporting activities about 3 months after that. The main thing is my right knee is fixed. But now I tore my meniscus in my left knee. I was motivated to writing this review because his Monterey office which Suzy runs the front desk was very accommodating and getting me in on the same day that I called. Dr gerbino looked over my MRI again and found a torn meniscus in my left knee and gave me a cortisone shot. I know he doesn't want to see his patients suffer. Both my husband and I have seen this Dr for the past few years. We have seen him in both his Monterey office and a Hollister office. Recently, near Christmas, I saw him in the Hollister office and he ordered an MRI. I have been in extreme pain and unable to work and barely able to walk. Dr. Gerbino did a terrible job "repairing" my torn meniscus about two years ago. I still have issues with not being able to walk. I was kicked out of the military because of his poor surgery. Dr. Gerbino refused to give me a note for work the day of surgery instead I had to go to his office on crutches and still sedated to get the paperwork I needed .The woman Marina was the rudest person I've ever had to deal with when I picked the note up. During my physical therapy I met another one if Dr. Gerbino's patents who also had knee surgery. He had to have a other knee surgery because Dr. Gerbino didn't fix his knee either. Although Dr. Gerbino may be a great doctor, his reception staff is unprofessional. I called to schedule an appointment from the ER for my husband the suggestion of the attending ER physician. The person answering the telephone at his office was rude, condescending and extremely dispassionate. I am in the medical field myself and understand the challenges in accommodating patients, but she didn't even let me explain my needs before I was rudely interrupted and told the doctor had nothing available. Never offering me an alternative......... I don't like to generate a negative review for a doctor, but his reception staff leaves much to be desired. It seems as though she just didn't want to be there and certainly was not interested in accommodating his patients. His approach is conservative (as in, he doesn't recommend surgery as the first treatment) and is diagnostic skills are excellent (after already having my daughter's doctor suggest three problems that COULD be the issue, he knew the real problem in minutes!). I came here for a foot injury, my first impression of the staff right off the bat was terrible. Before they even greet you they are already asking for you to pay your Co-Pay. Doctor was friendly, although, all he did was give me a boot and a brace and told me to stay off my foot. It's been 13 weeks and the swelling has not reduced. I've gone twice and a total of five minutes was spent treating my injury. I will be switching doctors soon. read more

Squeezed my foot a few times and asked how OCD I was about having an X-ray and MRI to confirm his diagnose of a stress fracture. Then told me to stay off of it until I could squeeze it and it didn't hurt. Told me to run in the pool and swim until then and in 6 weeks if it didn't hurt I could run my half marathon and maybe rebreak it on course. Got a second opinion, X-ray and still waiting on an MRI from and MD who says its not a stress fracture and is willing to follow up with me. read more

Dr Gerbino has been my daughter's orthopedist for the last 7 years. She is a competitive athlete and has suffered from a variety of sports related injuries over the years. She grew very quickly between the ages of 11 and 13 which also caused her some issues. I highly recommend Dr Gerbino for his diagnostic ability and, unlike some orthopedic surgeons, he does not jump to a surgical solution when other less invasive approaches are effective. I would give this unprofessional staff and lazy doctor a *negative* five star review if it were possible. I suggest you stay away!! I have been in pain with terrible knee swelling and trouble walking so I called and made an appointment for 3:45pm with this doctor two weeks ago. I show up today for the long awaited appointment and am told that new patients are never given appointments after 3pm. Instead, they had me down for 2:45pm. I am shocked as I had definitely confirmed that it was a 3:45pm appointment after initially scheduling. The rude secretary continues to deny that is possible and says there is no way the doctor will see me today. Then I check my voicemails and find a voice message from yesterday confirming that I had an appointment at 3:45pm. They still would not allow me to see the doctor unless I rescheduled for more than a week down the line. Ridiculous. read more

I have seen Dr. Gerbino countless times over the past nine years for breaks, fractures, and muscle tears. He has always been punctual and respectful, and has been able to give me accurate diagnoses in very little time. In speaking with Dr. Gerbino, I've found him to have a wide body of knowledge in all areas of orthopedic medicine. In addition, he is constantly seeking out the newest research and information on forms of treatment, so that he is able to give a patient a realistic idea of his or her options from the outset. He's very sensitive to an athlete's desire to return to play as quickly as possible, and is willing to work closely with a patient to ensure an efficient recovery. Finally, he has a great sense of humor, which makes the process of obtaining a diagnosis much more pleasant than it might otherwise be.
