We are all African American, and our experience was not good with this doctor or his staff because there was some obvious racism going on. First, we noticed that 2 separate white clients came in after us and were seen before us even though we arrived early for our appointment. Initially, I thought that maybe they had an earlier appointment than ours but was late. We determined that did not make sense especially when one of the office staff asked another staff member quitely, "Weren't they here first?" (The office staff was referring to us). The office staff member mumbled something under her breath but still took the other 2 white people at separate times, and who were obviously not together, before us. Then, in our consult with Dr. Cimino, it was obvious that he did not want to do the surgery for my sister and myself as he discouraged it. He did not discourage it because he was being honest, it was more racially motivated. In this country, the legal system makes racism hard to prove because most of them are racist themselves and want to continue to hide it. Systemic racism is real and should be exposed whenever it occurs, especially when dealing with someone you want to perform surgery on you.

When the nurse again attempted to check whether Dr. Szabo was available, Dr. Szabo screamed/responded harshly that I "was supposed to leave 30 minutes ago." At that point, my remaining questions had still not been addressed, and I left the office without receiving the consultation expected from the visit. Including commute time, the appointment required nearly two hours and concluded without resolution of my medical concerns.
