Get Penny to do your cleaning, she's the BEST! Staff is always on point and kind. I wouldn't go any where else in Tampa.

It's unfortunate that I have to write this review. I have excellent Medicare Aetna PPO dental…read moreinsurance, but this dentist seemed more interested in maximizing what they could bill than in providing care. Although my insurance approved the deep cleaning they claimed I urgently needed, the office refused to begin treatment without "written authorization." My insurance then requested the X-rays the dentist had taken, yet two weeks later the insurance company still hadn't received them. The dentist also insisted I needed an additional antibiotic treatment, which they said wasn't covered and would cost me nearly $1,000 out of pocket. When I called Aetna directly, I was told my treatment is covered at 100%. Clearly, the information I was being given in the office didn't match what my insurance confirmed. To make matters worse, they even denied me a standard cleaning, saying I "wasn't a candidate." No dentist should refuse a basic cleaning--this was simply a way to push more expensive procedures and bill against my $2,500 annual insurance allowance. My advice: Always call your insurance before agreeing to treatment or paying anything. Ask your insurance company to review the treatment codes the dentist provides. I did this and was able to get my teeth and gums cleaned elsewhere right away, fully covered. Be cautious--this office put profits before patients.

I had quite the whirlwind with some insurance company issues, but Betty at Terrace Oaks was so patient with my frazzle-need, and called me whenever I needed to get something updated for their records. It was my fault for never having asked my insurance company for an insurance card *whoops* you'd think they mail these, right? Anyways! From the very beginning, as in when I called to schedule my appointment, they notified me of what I was going to be charged, so there were no surprises when I arrived. It took maybe 5-10 minutes to fill out the paperwork when I got there and I swear it was maybe 60 seconds after I submit my paperwork that I was called back. I was told as a new patient I needed two different types of x-rays, having had x-rays several times a year when I was younger due to this and that and whatnot, I was tired of having these, I didn't was exposure to this stuff! (I know, call me a crunchy granola, I embrace it) I really didn't understand the need for this, but the dental assistant, I believe it was Jennifer, really explained why they needed it, and why it was important for my dental health, and guess what?? Minimal exposure compared to way back when! She was so patient and kind about it, I could see any other dentist office personnel getting prickly about my inquisitiveness, so I commend her awesome education and people skills! I rarely had to wait during this entire appointment, and when I did, it was always less than a minute. I'm so glad I found Dr. Gibbs and his team, they're thorough, patient, and provide excellent care. I kind of didn't want to write this review because I want this to be a well kept secret to me, myself, and I! Thank you Jennifer for giving me the best cleaning ever, I've never had anyone so detailed, and thanks to Dr. Gibbs for being straight forward and honest on improving and maintaining my dental health. Thanks!

The Scarry and Sad part of about it is the people who are either too preoccupied or too stupid to realize that they are being taken for in this dental office. I was a victim. My insurance paid for my treatment in full, 100%. Dr Gibbs claimed that my Insurance only pays a portion that I would need to pay the difference before my procedure. I paid the difference. I looked up my insurance coverage and was covered 100%. He knew all along the fee for my procedure. it was on the Proposal Treatment Plan he gave to me prior to my procedure. He is a scam artist, not a dentist! I reported him to BBB , My dental Insurance and The Florida Office of the Inspector General. I did get a refund only because I altered them to the fact of what they practice. BE AWARE AND WEARY with this dental office.

On top of that you won't try to "sell" me additional antibiotics choosing to instead give me tips for how I can fix my gum issues by brushing differently? And did you really just say I don't have to return for six months? No way, can't happen. I mean I've gone to some of those chain dental practices around and I never leave there without dropping around a franklin and a half (even with my insurance). I can't see a private practice, the kind of place where you get one-on-one attention and everybody knows your name, being cheaper than that. Thanks to Northeast Dental Care, I now know it is. I've been going to the GEs and the CDs for years and no matter the name or the location I've always been treated the same way. You've got receding gums they'll say. We need to fix it with antibiotics. I, trusting their expertise, go along with it. Cha-ching! Because of your gums you are high risk they tell me. We need to see every three months. Again, the experts are speaking, I listen. Eventually I became jaded with the whole chain dentist thing and, even though I'm paying for the slightly more expensive insurance, I quit going. But a recommendation by a friend to my wife convinced the two of us to give that crazy little thing called dental exams another try. Northeast Dental did not disappoint. I'm so glad I went to Northeast Dental Care as the care seemed top notch and the atmosphere was so much like the family dentist I grew up with. It was this atmosphere that the CDs and GEs cannot replicate. I can't wait to go back and pay Northeast Dental another visit (in six months...not three).
