Greg's operation is a very lean, efficient machine, there's no bloat. He got a tech out here the same day I called in, the tech analyzed the problem, which was a big issue that required the exact part that needed to be replaced being available, and time was made to knock the issue out the very next day. They gave me a quote of $2400 so I got two second opinions from other AC guys I know and both were like "Yeah man that's a fair price for the work being done." So I approved the work and the team knocked it out. Their tech, Joseph, is knowledgeable AF and super easy to work with, gave me a ton of tips on maintenance that'll help me with keeping the HVAC unit at my other house running well too. Greg and his team deserve five stars at a minimum. They operate with integrity, empathy, and communicate well with their clients. I was left in a lurch by Strand Brothers complete lack of service: they did not show up for an appointment. I had an email confirmation. When I called the same person that I had made the appointment with she denied ever having made it. I had the time stamp on my phone and an email and was told no, that it was not the case. I even knew the model and price of the replacement part - which I never would have know had they not told me. I asked to speak to a manager and was told one would call me. That was 96 hours ago. I reached out to Greg via Yelp. He responded quickly and managed to fit me in the next day. He was open and honest about what he could do. It would take a few days to get the part but it could be done. He also offered some temporary solutions. All along he texted or called with status updates. The tech from Greg's has just installed the part. He arrived on time and went directly to work. Everything works perfectly now. I have the part, plus freon and and the service call for the cost of the part alone from Strand Brothers. There is really no comparison. If you have any heating or AC needs, this is the place to go. I cannot say enough great things about this company. I contacted Greg to get a second quote on fixing my blower fan motor and possibly needing to cut the copper lines due to the installers covering the service panel to be able to get the blower fan out. He was very responsive and had an answer for me by the end of the day. They were able to schedule the work the next day!! This is unheard of when calling the bigger companies. His prices are VERY reasonable and was considerably under the other quotes that I had received. There were some unforeseen emergencies that occurred and caused them to need to reschedule our appointment to the next day. BUT he communicated with me every step of the way and he did try his best not to have to reschedule. Again, we are only talking about 1 day from when I originally contacted him. Based on other companies where you have to wait a week before they can even come to your house and then another week waiting on the part. He was able to order the part the same day. Came to Greg via circular route. Had a toilet leak and also noticed a water spot on the ceiling, so we called a plumber. Plumber looked in the attic and said that the water spot was from an a/c issue (plumber misdiagnosed, but he was a plumber) but also said there was a ton of damage and called out a remediation specialist who was suggesting thousands of dollars of work (Yelp reviews for them showed that most yelpers felt the remediation company was a scam, but back to the story). Plumber was from an all in one place that was going to send out A/C repair, but given the extraordinary high price charged for the leak ($500 to ultimately pull the toilet and replace the wax ring) and the recommendation of a scam remediation company, I called Greg's due to the reviews all mentioning honesty. Greg was responsive and was able to get someone out the same day, since we were told the ceiling was about to collapse. Isaac came out and told us there was a drain clog and faulty switches. Now, I had a recent foot surgery and was non-weight bearing, so couldn't get in the attic, but my wife could. Isaac showed my wife the very minimal water damage and the dry insulation (where the remediation guy said everything was soaking wet). They fixed the clog and replaced the safety switches and I felt it was all a fair price. They even came back out to investigate a new sound and fixed it. Alright--got sick and tired of getting hosed by other bigger outfits in town that have you over a barrel and then try and put the fear of god into you if you don't say yes to $10k + repairs. They rarely take the time to diagnose and just charge you to replace things until the problem goes away without ever assessing true causes. Saw Greg's Heating and Airs reviews and decided to give them a call instead. Greg, the owner came out himself, checked out our outside AC unit, tested it, then went into the attic and diagnosed about 4 different things that were wrong from prior installs, fixed them all, recharged our coolant, and billed us $180 total. He could easily have told us the old unit was toast, and we needed a full replacement--and instead educated us and helped us out. Used Greg when our HVAC went out to replace the unit. While the crew did a decent job, he told me REPEATEDLY he was going to register the new unit for the warranty (which was 10 yrs on parts). I trusted he was going to do this. Called him about a month after install to check on registration and he said he would do it and send me the info. Got busy and didn't think about it again. 2.5 yrs later, have problem with new unit, compressor goes out. Tried to find product registration on the manufacturers' website and was not there. Called Greg, he said he remembered doing the work and that "it really doesn't matter if product is registered or not". Well, that isn't true. Now that I have registered it 2.5 yrs later, the parts warranty goes from 10 yrs down to 5 yrs, among other warranty items we may have missed out on. He also wanted to be the one to work on the unit, hmmmm, wonder why? I feel there is some self serving purpose as to why he doesn't register the warranty. Has he figured out a loop hole in the manufacters system and/or is it bc he wants tobe able to charge you for parts after the FIVE years? Bottom line, he doesn't do as he says and it cost me and may continue to cost me in the future. Beware. read more

Service was very timely. I received a text message telling me that a technician was on his way. Joseph arrived soon after and got to work diagnosing the problem. The AC unit was not working at all. It turned out that the system capacitor was faulty and the hard start kit also needed replacing in order for the compressor to operate. The total bill was $550, which seems expensive, but considering the work that was done, I think the price was fair. I would recommend this company. read more

I can home from vacation to a broken AC unit, and Austin temps of 100+. I used the yelp app to find a repair service, and Greg responded quickly. We set an appointment for the same day, and he actually came by twice that day in order to get my unit back up and running. It should be noted that the unit is on its last leg, needs to be replaced, and they were able to get it back functional until it can be replaced in a day or two. The A/C in our townhome went out in the middle of peak summer last year during those 100 deg days. I called multiple companies and every company including the some of the famous names that advertise heavily on TV came out to take a look and said the whole outdoor and indoor unit needs to be replaced which was a lot of money (anywhere between $8k to $12k!). Finally, I called Greg's and his team came out to take a look. He diagnosed that the evaporator coil (apparently Rheem had a big batch of cheap coils they sourced from China failing all over) is leaking and replacing that could fix it and the cost would be about $2k. He advised us to take that instead of spending $10k straight away and we should try that route first. I agreed and his team promptly came out and did the job the next day. His team's professionalism was beyond par and you could see that in their efficiency. They also thoroughly cleaned up after they finished which is a sign of a good professional. It's been exactly over a year since my evaporator coil was replaced and our A/C has been running strong! I would recommend this company to anyone looking for A/C repair as these guys know what they are doing and honest. read more
