Vehicle exploded on fire after consecutive of misdiagnosed malfunctions by this place. The check engine kept coming on and we dropped the car off after the engine light reappeared every time. After my car burned, literal engine fire, tires popped....we called and the receptionist said we'll you didn't tell us to check the gas fuel lines. I take my car in for service cause idk whats wrong. Also not sure how to know the check engine line means fuel lines vs and I didn't close the fuel cap strongly enough. As an auto shop can i get some support. Other than watch my car go up in flames? The offered me a free oil change next time I came in - now they are not honoring their word! If you want to run the risk of engine damage, this is the place for you. I don't know what's going on over there any more. After almost 20 years of going to these guys I've had enough. I had an oil change two weeks ago and all was fine with my car. The following week I took it back for A/C issue and they told me my battery was bad. I was surprised since it was only a year old. They said they would contact AutoZone and get it replaced. Turns out this was the replacement battery, so it wasn't under warranty. Greulich didn't tell me this and also didn't tell me that they just put the "bad" battery back in the car. The next day my car almost didn't start so I drove right to AutoZone to replace the battery that I realized they didn't swap out. I purchased a new battery and they swapped it out. I was correct that it was only a year old so before I left I had him test it just to be sure because I was taking Greulich's word for it. Nope, the battery tested good. This isn't the first bad experience. Two days before heading up to Flagstaff I had my wife's car in for an oil change. On the way up two Flag I got a transmission overheating light go on. Luckily I was near an exit with a gas station. I opened the hood to find the radiator overflow was bone dry and the cap was off. It took almost a gallon of radiator fluid to get it up the the fill line. This was two days after getting service at their station where they're supposed to check all the fluids. They also recommended I change the plugs on my Civic that only has 70k miles on it. The plugs Honda uses are rated for 100k miles and there's no indication that they need changing based on how the car is running. Something has changed at this shop and it's not in a good way. read more

Needed a radiator, hoses, fluids, water pump. Went to Greulich's on Guadalupe/Ellsworth in Mesa, which conveniently is outside our back gate of LPG. Reza Yasavolian worked with my husband to get car fixed, etc. It was pricey, but a lot less expensive than purchasing a new car or someone's car problems in buying used. We took my wife's car in for an A/C service. They called and listed a few other items that needed service soon, I declined the extra services saying I'll do them myself. Three months later my wife had a flat tire. I attempted to remove the lug nuts they were extremely tight and one stud was stripped. In replacing the tire I became aware that one lug nut on each wheel was stripped and many others were deformed. I can only assume that the mechanic was angry because I declined his other services. I called on Wednesday Aug 8th for a quote on my 2018 Chrysler 300s. I need a new evaporator which is going to cost in the $1,600-$1800 range at least. No one answered. I left a message with my details. I called the next day around noon after not getting a call back. This time someone answered, he was nice but told me they were having computer issues and couldn't get me a quote until they rebooted their system. He said he would give me a call back. Around 2pm I called back after waiting 2 hours. The same gentleman answered and said he was reaching out to their other stores for more info. I confirmed my contact details to make sure I could actually get a call back. I did not get a call back once again on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Closed). It's now noon on Monday and still nothing when I could have had it in the shop this morning. They either have terrible processes, managers who don't care or just don't like doing the type of work I needed so they purposely didn't reach back. Either way, you need to be transparent and communicate with your customers and give a referral if you don't want to do the work. JUST LET ME KNOW EITHER WAY! This place seems like it's a franchise so I'm not convinced it was the owner doing this. I will give another shop this job and future jobs instead. I am a franchise owner myself. I am beyond thankful to have found Greulich's. Craig was the most helpful person to have helped me at any automotive related shop I've ever been to. I was 2 hours into my 12 hour trip when my car breaks down & I am towed to Greulich's after waiting another 3 hours for a tow truck. Making the 2 hour trip back to Mesa was already frustrating, but the service at Greulich's was incredibly reassuring & I felt so comfortable & thankful to be in their care. Craig was in communication with my father-in-law while I handled AAA. Craig was very reassuring & caring over the phone prior to my arrival. After Craig checks the car, he comes back & has me come around the counter to see all that he has pulled up on the computer, explaining to me in detail the best route to go about everything. This was so helpful in making sure I understood exactly what he was talking about & how to proceed from there. The car will need the engine replaced, but Craig assured me it will will likely be covered under the warranty. He suggested I take my car to the dealership so it can be taken care of under warranty, & he was SO kind to not charge me for the diagnostic fee. I am so impressed & thankful for the service I experienced as the day I've had has been one of the longest & hardest days to do by myself. Update: Brake dust on front wheels after 1500 miles and I'm already getting surge from the rotors when braking, which means they didn't turn the new rotors so those are probably trash by now. Although I have taken my vehicle here on previous occasions with satisfactory results, I am appalled that I am leaving today after paying over $200 to simply have a new battery installed. After being charged $40 to have them diagnose what I explained to them to be a dead battery that I had to jump twice in the past three days, they proceeded to add another $20 on top of that for labor, $25 to the already $100 retail cost of the battery, and $15 in shop supplies and waste disposal to my total. Needless to say although they were quick and provided quality service, it came at a premium cost that I will not be returning to pay again. *** 2/3/2014 Update *** I am pleased to report that although the battery I purchased here 15 months ago wouldn't start my vehicle this past weekend, since it was still within the 18 month warranty period it was originally purchased on they did end up replacing it for me this morning and in the process earned one additional star to my review! read more

Check engine light came back on within in 2 weeks. Was charged full price again for a "different" issue. And like clock work, it's back on again within 2 weeks. They won't budge or help out at all. I have a 2008 pre-owned vehicle and after having it a year with no issues it somehow lost all of its oil causing the engine to seize while i was driving. My entire engine had to be replaced and not only were the guys at greulich's beyond helpful and fast, they continue to take care the absolute best care of me and my car as she gets older and has more issues. i don't know much about cars but i do know for a fact that these people provide good and honest business, and that they are not in the business of trying to take advantage of anyones time or money. We needed to have the oil leak on my Mom's Toyota Camry looked at right away. In a bind before close of day, we went to Greulichs on Almaschool near Guadalupe, as it was close to us. The manager, Allen, attended to us right away, and the crew was able to identify the issue in short order. Allen called us over to show us what was happening. We really appreciated seeing the issue first hand! The stopper on the motor-oil drain was not a snug fit and motor-oil had begun to leak - it was thankfully a simple solution. We were taken care of swiftly with no undue charges. Allen, a floating manager, treated us with urgency, transparency and grace. Thank you Allen!!! read more

My mom and I have taken our cars to Greulich's on Alma School for years and felt like we got great service but both of us have had bad experiences there as of late. I brought my 97 Accord in because the hydraulics in my clutch linkage had gone out. They replaced the master and slave cylinder and the problem came back on the drive home. They replaced it again but during the process, they broke my power steering. When I went to pick up the car, the clutch was still not in working order. They replaced it a 3rd time but then managed to screw up returning my car to me two days in a row so by the time I got it back in working order, 5 days had elapsed. For the inconvenience of 5 days of not having a car, 4 bogus pickup attempts, 0 returned calls and a few broken promises, the manager tried to offer me 3 free oil changes (as if I'd let them work on my car again). 6 weeks later, the clutch linkage is broken again. Despite the fact that this should clearly be covered under the warranty at Greulich's, I refuse to trust my car in their care. They don't care about their customers, testing for defective parts, doing a good job or behaving like professionals. They are avoidant if you have any problems and even their head office doesn't care to return calls to customers (even when the secretary promises they will). Don't take your car here. read more

Horrible customer service by Matt. Guy has no people skills. Always tried to talk over us and doesn't listen before he spoke. Took vehicle there for stalling issue. Took them three trys to fix it. Matt had the vehicle over 15 business days and two weekends total. Claimed it needed $800 fuel pump first time in, so we said replace it. Next day vehicle stalls out again at an intersection. Very embarrassing and problematic. Back to Matt. Then he tells us it will need $450 ignition module. We goto napa, same place grueluchs gets their parts, and it $142 out the door. Are you kidding me Matt!!! Check every estimate he gives you or better yet run from this place! Front office Matt is not trustworthy, doesn't listen, and his shop can't fix a common problem on a Buick. Finally got smart and took the car to San Tan Ford, they fixed the problem in under 2 hours and for $150. Said it was a common problem with that type of vehicle and all repair shops should know it. Glad I spent over $1000 and Gruelchs didn't even fix the problem. Thanks Matt..... Take your car somewhere else, anywhere but here!! read more

Not sure what to think currently. Still assessing what's going on with my car but I am frustrated.

I had an engine light come on in my Buick Rendezvous and took it to Autozone for a check. It had a code that indicated it needed a tune-up. Greulichs said it needed a new tranny. If I wanted my vehicle back, I had to pay $1000 for "diagnostic" fees. They also stated that the vehicle was not running and I would have to tow it. I let them fix the vehicle. Several weeks and several thousand dollars later, I received the vehicle back. It was not running as well as before they repaired it. The check engine light was still ON! I called the company headquarters and they had me take the Buick to their Scottsdale location. The technician there told me I would have had better results if I wouldn't have had used parts installed. I had been charged a hefty amount for NEW PARTS at the Mesa shop! They changed the used parts for new parts, which again took several days. The check engine light came ON AGAIN on the way home. I gave up and took it to a dealership. They found strange things like non-matching spark plug wires (Greulich's charged me $800 for a tuneup). The dealership felt the problem was a head gasket leak. Another $2000 and the check engine light no longer comes on. However, the vehicle no longer runs as smoothly as before it went into Greulich's and I am out between $7000 and $8000. DO NOT go to Greulich's on Alma School. read more

I brought my Durango there as it was having stalling issues and this place was recommended to me. Even after I read the bad reviews I thought I would give them a shot as I didn't know where else to go. Well, they couldn't duplicate the problem but said they ran a diagnostic on it for $117. They discovered the "crank shaft sensor" was bad and apparently my battery cables are loose. They wanted to charge me $432 to fix it. Then...their recommendation was a total fluid flush for another $220. Basically charging me over $650 for a $31 part and a "fluid flush". They didn't bother to mention that my back windows don't roll down, how much the motor would be to fix that OR that when you move the steering wheel it not only kills the truck but also shuts the AC vents off. Well...a fluid flush is the answer to all my problems, huh? I think they went for the EASY money/work because I'm a woman. My buddy changed my sensor for $31 in 15 minutes based off a diagram he found online. No need to even lift my truck up. Place is a total, 100% rip off. I would never recommended ANYONE go here. And did I mention when I dropped my truck off I said I was trying to sell it and the max I'd pay for a repair was $300. They told me NO WAY they could get me under the $432. Well, for $300 they would've made money on me anyway....but nope, wouldn't go under the absurd $432 charge. read more

Had a 1998 Dodge 1500 pickup transmission fail. Called a number of places trying to get a good explanation of what was involved and how I could spend no more than I had to in order to get a 13 year old, high mileage work vehicle back on the road. They not only understand where I was coming from, they bent over backwards to get me the best deal possible. Bryce at the chandler store and Randy at the Mesa store are super guys. Believe what you hear about Greulich's!! They get rated year after year as the best automotive repair shop in the area - why, because in my opinion, they are the best and they deserve it. I've used Greulich's automotive in ahwatukee and was extremely satisfied. My car broke down and in Mesa and I had it towed to the closest Greulich's arriving at 8:00am. I waited until 2 o'clock that afternoon and called as I had not had any call back as to what my car's problem was. Approximately 20 minutes after that call, I got a call from someone at gruelichs that problem identified And would be repaired. I got a call at 4 o'clock that the car was ready. I pick up the car and suddenly the labor bill has gone up with technician telling me it took them over three hours to complete. My conclusion is that I will never return to this location again. I feel my job was pushed back and I was charged higher than what I should have Update- I was refunded one hour of labor by the company and am more than pleased that the company stepped up to the plate. I was told however that the standard charge is for 3 labor hours. read more

I took my car in for a bad oil leak and the team worked hard to discover the cause. My warranty company put them through the ringer, demanding tear down after tear down, landing my car in the shop for nearly 6 weeks because of the warranty companies delays and lack of appropriate communication. Tom and Marcio at Greulichs were very patient and followed their demands. They discovered I needed a new engine due to a covered mechanical break down yet the warranty company continued to push back and refused to send a third inspector to evaluate their latest findings. I had to beg the warranty company to send someone out again, which is part of their job by the way, and they finally relented. At this point, my car had been at Greulichs 6 weeks. Both Greulichs and I were more than frustrated but they finally received the okay to cover it from this terrible warranty company. Despite their own frustration and excess time and cost spent in this ridiculous issue, they stayed compassionate and calm headed. And their original diagnosis was correct, which was finally confirmed by warranty inspector. The whole experience was a nightmare but Marcio helped me each step of the way and was more than patient and willing to work with me and my terrible warranty company. When I finally picked up my car, we were so relieved to have this nightmare behind us! I won't forget their patience and kindness and advocacy. My new engine came with a 2 year warranty. read more
