Have been taking our vehicles there for several years and have always been pleased with services.

I made an appointment to get an alignment on my car. I was told the service would take about an hour when I booked. When I dropped off the car for the appointment I told the Christine, the service manager, that I'd be waiting and she confirmed "about an hour." I was not told that the tech would spend an hour doing a vehicle inspection that I had no interest in. When I returned after an hour, the shop hadn't even started the alignment. The manager said "the alignment takes less time than the inspection (!) and should only take another 20-30 minutes. 2.5 hours after my appointment my car was finally ready. They did offer a slight discount on the service. I don't care about discounts. I want to hire people that'll do what they say they'll do in the time they commit to. A few bucks off is not worth the aggravation to me, ever. If the manager had been straight with me I would've taken a freaking Uber home and returned when the car was (finally) ready. Instead, Spencer Auto will never see another one of my vehicles. I can't stand overpromising and under delivering. But, hey, at least I know I have a license plate bulb out thanks to the stupid inspection that the manager insists the owner will not waive. I get the gimmick to find other things to repair, but I won't play Spencer's game again. Lame. read more

I moved recently and had been looking for a new repair shop. I wanted someone with positive reviews, local, and who was genuine and transparent. I took my 2012 Honda Accord into Spencer's because they had a high rating, their website was easy to use and they were about a mile away from me. I was getting front brakes replaced along with an oil change. I was highly impressed with: 1. The customer service acumen of the staff, specifically William and Kaleb, 2. The quality of the work performed, and 3. The transparency relates to my service. Myself, as well as many others, tend to be concerned with finding a repair shop who we can trust and who isn't going to scam you. Spencer's was very transparent about the pricing, the pricing was extremely reasonable. I like how they also sent me a link with pictures of problem areas in my vehicle, indicating what was good, would need attention soon, and what needed immediate attention. I felt no pressure to add on services. The staff was quick and efficient a the process was seamless. These guys are my go to shop from now on. read more

Our family was driving up to PHX Sky Harbor from Tucson for holiday travel and our car started running rough (spark plugs were old and starting to miss fire) a few miles from the airport. With a plane to catch, our family pressed on to parking and caught our flight. While away I had the stressful task to blindly find a repair shop. After reading some other positive reviews I called Spenser and described the issue. They were able to quickly schedule an appointment and diagnosis the issues. Was disappointed with our recent visit to Spencer's. We had used them several times before and felt they did a pretty good job. We have a bit of an unusual vehicle (06 Land Rover) that many shops don't work on. We were excited to find that Spencer could do the repairs. On a recent visit, we had spark plugs and coil bolts replaced. Not long after, we had severe loss of power and had to roll into a different repair shop, as we did not think the vehicle would make it back to Spencer. The new repair shop stated the bolts were overtightened and caused some cracks. The only shop that made previous repairs was Spencer. I reached out to Spencer to ask for some assistance, and they basically said since we didn't bring it back to Spencer there was nothing they could do. Very disappointing, as it was obviously something done by Spencer that caused the damage, which led to a major repair cost. Spencer did not offer any assistance whatsoever. read more

5 stars isn't nearly enough. I had a pretty minor issue, one that they easily could have told me to take a hike but they could not have been nicer in the manner in which they helped me. Gentleman behind the counter said "Let me take a look" and fixed my issue immediately. He refused to take any payment as it "wasn't a big deal." I will be back. read more

Had the wonderful opportunity of failing an emissions test on my 2009 Murano. The State has a program where they will help pay a large portion of repairs. I selected Spencer Auto Repair and took my car to this location. Bottom line, they did an outstanding job. They text a comprehensive report detailing areas of problems with your car, and its broken down into different categories. Asst Manager Aaron Nally called and we went over the report. He was honest, forthright and said what HAD to be done and what items I could wait to repair. They were able to get it done earlier than originally expected. After compromising a cam position sensor on my Land Cruiser during a water pump gasket fix (granted they fixed it for free), I should've known better. Dropped my car off for an alignment after front end work and the car left with 5/6 cylinders getting spark and a new CEL flashing on the dash. When I called, the receptionist apologized and told me "the tech is no longer with us" only for the manager to follow up days later and tell me "I talked with the tech and determined we were not at fault". Not sure who to believe but regardless don't waste your time on this shop. read more

This place is the worst. Had my Mercedes for 3 months charged me over 1k and didn't fix anything. Even left parts unhooked and it was less put together when I got it home. They have been supposedly working on a solution for 2 months and have did nothing. Ironically when I call they don't answer now. So I guess I gotta call private. I'm seriously thinking of suing them for returning my car with less parts on than when I took it to them. They used third party services like Mercedes and blames everyone else for why my car was not fixed. And why it's not put together. I broke my side view mirrow on the right side of my car door. A week ago I went to Spencer in Chandler, where I've gone before. As I walked in Aaron the assistant manager remembered me and called me by my name. I explain to Aaron and manager Jose what had happen. They were both so helpful. Told me I needed a part. Jose called around for the part. He then told me to bring it back and they will put it on for me. I finally got the part made an appointment to get it put on. As I pulled up Aaron was waiting. He then put then replaced the old part with the new and didnt charge me for it. Now that is AMAZING service. And I will continue to recommend them to Spencer. The place has good quality workmanship. But they are pricey and recently I made an appointment four days ahead of time. I got there I left them my business service vehicle for nearly 4 hours. When I returned they had not even taken up the hood or looked at it once. This is after I had been there several days earlier and they knew exactly what was wrong. They were supposed to order parts and be ready when I got there so they could spend half a day performing the repairs. They did absolutely nothing and with the downtime I lost over $250 in business that I could have made. But overall I think they have a good reputation. They are a professional shop normally. Brought my car in for an oil change. After it is done, when i drove the car out of the shop, i notice the steering wheel is shaking and also the brake is not working and I almost hit the car in front of me. Managed pulling into a Safeway parking lot. The parking lot is just cross the street from the shop. Called the shop next morning and ask them take a look. I was told i have to tow the car to the shop. Paid $85 getting the car to the shop. Long story short, the wheel shaking and brake problem is because the mechanic forgot to plug in the ABS actuator. Definitely shop's fault. Asked the shop reimburse me the towing fee or give me store credit. They said OK first, but then they said they can give me $85 discount only if i do another repair with them, and it need to be ďone within a week. You be the Judge. read more

Aaron at the front desk was helpful and thorough when explaining what needed to be done and gave me a great price compared to the last person who gave me a quote. He saved me nearly half in comparison to the quote I was given and when they received a discount on the part, they passed that on to me saving me even more money. We got a used Jeep Grand Cherokee from Tempe Toyota, they sold us a car in horrible condition. We took it in to get fixed but they didn't fix the problem, we brought it in again over the weekend after it could no longer run. They would not help us because we were one day shy of the warranty. So we decided to take it to a shop and see if we could get it fixed. Spencer Auto Repair has 500xs better customer service than the service department at Tempe Toyota Autonation. We dropped it off on Sunday and Joe called me right at 7:10am Monday morning to hear my side of the story so they can pinpoint the problem, they gave me a price on the first thing we can do. Which was do a test and see if anything comes up, I agree. Joe told me they will let me know if there are any issues and what the estimate will be. They sent me a text with a link that had all the issues, it included pictures, which was really nice. I called them and they gave me a quote of $1,365. They told me the plan and how after replacing the hose and a part they will do a block test to just be sure it's not the engine. I love how they explained the whole plan and what they think is causing the engine to overheat. By 4:45pm the same day, they found the problem, fix it and it passed the block test. They said the engine is fine it was just a coolant leak. We picked it up at the final bill was $1,295. I like how they didn't try to cheat us out of an extra $100 or try to lie to make us get anything else fixed. There are some smaller repairs that have to be done but they said we can chip at those slowly as they are not urgent. Tempe Autonation had my Jeep for minor repairs and to check an engine light, they had my Jeep for two days before I could pick it up. Spencer's seemed super busy on Monday but they managed to find the problem with my Jeep, keep in contact with me on updates and fix the problem in a day. We will be bringing my husband's truck here to get maintenance done. They seem a little pricey but they get the job done and they don't try to up sell you on things you don't need. read more

Last week I got a quote for a transmission service...drop pan, change filter, put new gasket on. Price was under $300. I get there this morning...confirmed the appointment. I was told the quote was for transmission service....but then told quote was not saved, and it would cost over $400. They are trying to overcharge me for the parts. I priced AC Delco transmission service kit/filter&gasket and fluid at Auto Zone...under $100. They are trying to charge me $175 for the same kit. and another $50-$70 for the fluid over $200 for labor.. Not a good way to treat a new customer... I would have gave them business based on the good reviews...but several customers in reviews are stating Spencer Auto Repair is overcharging for parts. I was going to return for and oil change and fuel filter change..but if they will not honor quoted prices. read more
