I am a mother with five kids trying to get back home to family. We missed the Greyhound bus due to one of the kids being ill and they're refusing a refund or voucher to book another trip. I called and spoke to someone through their customer service line and she said there's nothing they can do. We are out of $699(I can provide booking proof). We're on a fixed income with social security and I'm disabled. This is completely unacceptable and downright disgusting and ridiculous to not provide any kind of compensation. the ride into Houston from Louisiana was a breeze and the driver was considerate and understanding. the experience trying to leave Houston to go home was horrible. the driver and staff was rude, inconsiderate & decided to show how she (the driver) can through her "rights" around by not allowing me and my children to board the bus, sitting in the parking lot while we watched and tried to reason with the driver to board and were here on time but not the time she requires riders to be here, because she have her own set of rules. I have nothing against this Greyhound station but like many of them it should probably have slightly better security, and Houston sn't actually Grand Central on the massive network of buses - in fact Dallas has a much more thriving Hub, although their station isn't really much better than this one. In fact they're both run down, in iffy spots, and kinda sketchy inside and out. And way overcrowded, especially Dallitos. But Houston has its pluses. It does have one of the best restaurants in the country across the street - Nara Thai, which is cheap too - so that's a big plus and it literally is 30 seconds from the door, and this station is also within walking distance of all the good stuff downtown. read more

So I wanted to buy a ticket so I could go from Houston to Dallas. I tried to buy it online but I was having an extremely hard time so I went in person and I had to wait like 30 minutes because the person was on lunch not a big deal. I bought my ticket and left and came back on my appointment date and everything was fine. The reason why they don't get five stars is because of the location there was a bunch of homeless dirty creepy people around the bus station. Four stars because it was somewhat easy to buy the ticket it was somewhat cheap and effective. Lacking a star because of the location and cleanliness. Also just an FYI when I was going from Dallas to Houston on Greyhound bus the bus left 15 minutes early and I had to wait an hour for the next bus so just make sure you're extremely early to your appointment I would say 30 minutes, bus drivers are leaving early because they can no one is in forcing what time they leave. Just like everyone else states... scared, homeless outside, needles and needle caps throughout, dirty, and so on. But, honestly that's probably 85% of greyhound stations. The buses still need a good cleaning. I suggest buying some Clorox wipes and clean things up yourself for an enjoyable ride. The anchors in the seat used to anchor car seats did in your butt. This place is super creepy. I never ride Greyhound but I. had a flight from Houston to Hawaii ( actually LAX- Connection flight) and I arrived here at 5 in the AM. It was fine until I walked outside and a Taxi driver asked if I needed a lift. I was like, "Yes, the airport please" Then he asked if I would pay the homeless man he was standing next to , a tip. Sure, ok. He gave me a ridiculous price and I oped for the LIFT APP instead. I hoped out and he wanted a tip himself for not giving me a ride. ten min later the homeless man , after following me around all creepy asked that I pay him too. I should say zero stars also. I had a ticket to go from South Haven, MI to Chicago, Illinois on 8/8 at 7:10 PM. We arrived at the "bus station" at 6:40 PM. The bus station was basically a plot of concrete in a strip mall behind a gas station. The bus did not show up at its designated arrival time (7:10 PM). We used the tracking app. and it said it would arrive at 7:23. Did not show up at 7:23. Hadn't showed up by 7:45 so we starting calling customer service. It was outsourced to some call center in the Philippines. All they kept telling us is "Bus is on the way but we cannot tell you where it is". We waited until well after 9:30 and the bus never showed. I was the only person the bus was picking up South Haven and I think the driver just didnt care about picking up one person. Customer service has been unreasonable about my refund. I sent an email to David Mussa, who is an Executive in Customer Service early this morning. Have yet to hear from him as of 4 or so hours later. Fingers crossed! read more

The busses either run on time, or not at all. My first experience was good - an on time bus that got me to my destination. Second experience was beyond awful and inexcusable - the bus arrived 2 hours late and no one at customer service could tell me why it was that late or what was going on during the time. There was no reason for a bus to be that late with no traffic or weather issues - the bus was simply just /that/ late. This station is in a very bad pocket of near downtown. Here are a few tips from a person who wouldn't take a bus any any cost. Taking my sweet 19 year old daughter there because she refuses to fly due to anxiety. 1. Don't drop someone that can't take care of themselves in a rough situation. Use a taxi or Uber and go in with them. Parking would cause you to walk around the station which is concentrated with bad elements and pan handlers. 2. Many of these loiterers are willing to help you with a thing or two like bags or the door, so if you do let them help, have a few ones to slip them like you would a bellman. 3. When checking your bag, be there earlier than 25 minutes, as it may be a line to get a bag tag. If any issue with the checkin person, glance at the photo above of the manager of customer service. Then make direct eye contact with the checkin person. Don't get into an argument. Remember this is a commercial operation, not public. They have some accountability. 4. Bring hand sanitizer. 5. Do NOT go to the McDonald's. It's unsafe. 6. Tell your Uber to please wait somewhere nearby. be ready to exit the vehicle quickly on main. Don't let them drop you behind or on the side. 7. Remember that the people managing this station have a harder job than (most of you). so please remember to work with the employees and police there in a way which makes things go smoothly for everyone. 8. The way I was treated Saturday, June 10th, was insane. I was in Houston, TX on business and I was trying to get home for my birthday weekend. I arrived at the Greyhound terminal and asked the representative what gate to wait for the bus. She responded that I'm at the wrong location and told me to go to the corner of Smith and Gray street. When I finally get to the area, it's a big lot with no chairs anything to protect you from the weather. Luckily a Starbucks is across the street that helped me. My bus was scheduled for 2:10 pm, seven buses arrived at different times at that location and each driver refused to look at my ticket, they would only say "next bus". Several people and myself called Greyhound's Customer Service line. The representative I spoke to kept saying that the bus arrived and left. I told him me and twenty-five other people did not see a bus. For proof, he wanted me to get names and booking numbers to verify that other people are there with me. I told him no I'm not doing that and asked for a supervisor. I asked him for a supervisor 17 times and was never given one. After 6 pm another bus showed up that's headed to New Orleans, Louisiana. I put my bag on the bus and the bus driver looked at my ticket that my name not on his list. He called the main office, and was informed one of the previous buses, going to Austin, TX, was my bus. I tried telling him that the driver refused to look at my ticket and kept saying next bus. My phone was going dead, so I went across the street to Buffalo Wild Wings to charge it. While gone, to driver drove off with my bag still on the bus. I had to file a lost luggage and refund claims and hopefully I get both returned to me. For now on, I'm going Enterprise to rent a car to get home. Not going through this AGAIN read more

Wife and I decided to take a quick trip to San Antonio and because I didn't want to drive for reasons I'm not going to go into LOL we decided to take the Greyhound. This has been the place we've gone to for many years on trips from various places such as Corpus Christi, Dallas but we had never taken it to San Antonio. The station like most bus stations have an eclectic mix of people. From drifters, to college students, to the homeless you see all types of people at this bus station. One thing I like about greyhound is that they've updated the bus stations to make them a lot more similar to airports. We were able to print out the boarding pass that we get paid for online without having to wait in line and they now have their version of the TSA agent that screens people although not as thoroughly as the gentlemen at the airports which is a good and a bad thing. He did a quick patdown and a wave with the metal detector but as far as in the bags he didn't really go through people's bags he just simply asked people whether or not they were carrying any type of weapons or contraband it does however add to the level of security that bus systems are now trying to implement at their terminals. Our bus left very quickly after the start time and we arrived at our destination with no issues. Some of the Greyhound buses now offer Wi-Fi for free but this particular bus did not. We are going to give Megabus a try on our next bus outing because they are offering supercheap deals such $1 to go to either Dallas San Antonio or New Orleans read more

The bus experience is not bad and somewhat comfortable. $42 is a bit much to charge if your station bathroom is going to be a cesspool. I could not find anyone to ask a question about my bag. Turns out you need some sort of baggage tag, but they let me on anyways, which was nice. -0 stars actually! Greyhound bus services in Houston were outrageously bad. Shocking in fact. Terminal was shut down. Nobody including police knew where the station was. We finally found A station that we could buy tickets from but was told we couldn't catch bus there. We were directed to go to an address that turned out to be a parking lot with NO services (not even a bench seat let alone toilet facilities) where homeless and addicts were sleeping/hanging out. The bus NEVER showed up after waiting from 1pm to 7pm asking every bus that came through only to be told it wasn't the right one. We weren't alone...there were 10 of us stranded in a carpark after dark with the homeless and addicts. We were 3 older ladies and felt very unsafe! Nobody cared. We phoned multiple times without assistance from anyone! When we were finally told we would have to wait till 12.30am (after being given clearly false/lying reasons), we had all given up and left. On complaining, staff were not only unhelpful but arrogant and rude. NO refund was offered! We lost nearly $1000 because the bus didn't show up, in bookings plus our fares paid, quite apart from agro received, danger left in or no service received. I live in Texas, and I am a terrible driver, so I really value bus systems for inter-city travel. That being said, the Houston Greyhound station is abominable. The crowd, though sometimes a little rough, is harmless. There ARE a lot of homeless people panhandling directly outside the station, so if that bothers you, you might be better off going with a different bus line. My real problem with Greyhound is the employees and the way the place is run. If you want to be treated like a second-class citizen, by all means travel through Houston's Greyhound station. What follows is a true story and not even an isolated incident of rudeness and complication with a bus trip. I arrived at my Greyhound on time. I went through the short security process. I watched the gate my train was supposed to depart through, but began to see people lining up for a different gate. I asked someone who worked there if that was the line for Houston. She proceeded to full-out yell at me, telling me I was too late. We proceeded to argue for a couple of minutes, at which point she tells me it was my bus and it's too late now, because it is about to leave, smirking. Quite frankly, my advice is if at all possible, go with Megabus. The people at Greyhound are disturbingly rude. The environment is hostile, and it's probably not safe at night.
