Coming back from Costa Rica we went through the TSA Checkpoint at William P. Hobby Airport on a Friday around 2 pm and it was surprisingly quick, which is so needed after a long flight, customs and transferring bags. There really weren't many people in line, and the whole process moved fast from start to finish. One of those moments where you're bracing for airport security and then realize... oh, this is actually easy. Everything felt organized and efficient, which made getting through stress-free. Helpful tip: If you're flying out of Hobby, early afternoon on a weekday seems to be a great time to get through security without a long wait. TSA Pre-check is typically very easy and it indeed was at Hobby Houston Airport. I should write more of these checks airports. No issues at all after showing my ID. Left shoes on, belt on and emptied pockets. I asked and was granted to have my watch walked through by a TSA agent. Recommend getting TSA Pre Check if you fly a few times a year. read more

I haven't flown into Houston Hobby for 4 years. Walking into the TSA pre-check line is so much faster than the regular line almost 100% of the time. The staff was friendly, but some could smile more. This visit was flawless as I sailed right through. I'm especially glad we don't have to take out laptops or remove shoes anymore because that part was such a hassle! Safe travels! read more

This TSA pre check is always quick and easy and it always makes me happy to have it when I see how long the normal line can get. The people working the checkpoint there are always really nice and the TSA line is really never very long so if you are like me who does not like to get to the airport super early being able to zoom through security makes my life much easier. If you travel a decent amount and don't have TSA pre check it really does make traveling much quicker. read more

This review is about my TSA PreCheck experience at HOU Hobby Airport. First time using this privilege but found there was no difference without it. Other than no need to take my shoes off. The TSA agent was not attentive, no eye contact and no smile. That's normal to all TSA agents at other posts. Just presented my photo ID and not even a "thank you" or "have a nice trip". It's ok. I get used to emotionless service. Maybe that's the future of TSA agents replaced by robots. The worst part of this experience is that non-privileged posts are empty. Looks like the rush was over. Rude is all I can say about these people. They look as if they don't want to be at work. They are slow. When you say hi they just look at you. I'm not sure they even know how to talk. When a TSA agent wants to get around you they don't say excuse me. They just push themselves by. The floors are dirty. They really need to train these people on customer service. Laptops Out, people! Shoes OFF. This place is run like a government bureaucracy. Anything larger than a cell phone needs to be out of the bag and laid out flat. The TSA agents seem so overworked, so bored with life. Jackets OFF. They don't make it easy on the traveler, they often have no idea what's going on, and why their Fourth Amendment rights are being violated. It's always sad seeing children being terrorized in a government pat down. Having a false limb or medical problems always sets off the alarms making the disabled a higher likelihood to be a threat to national security. Now TSA is selling Clear and pre-check status, where they're making money at getting through the hassles that they created in the first place. The TSA Agents have been shouting the same thing all day long. "Shoes Off!" They seem to relish confiscating that extra toothpaste or drinking water. read more

Went through this airport a few times, and not once did I have a bad experience. Decent amount of restaurants, and convenient stores. Also loved the fact their seats (majority) has power stations to charge your phones/pads. Be mindful though. The TSA checkpoint doesn't open until 4:45am. So if you have a early flight, you can't get pass the checkpoint until they open. read more

I frequent this airport due to its proximity to my home. It's also a fairly small airport compared to IAH (Bush), which I like. I frequently take early morning flights and what is frustrating is TSA Pre-check scanners not being open prior to the first flight of the day. Expedited means nothing to TSA security and they expect you to remove everything, including your shoes. What's the point in purchasing TSA Pre-Check if you're not going to get the benefits out of it?! That's the whole point-to avoid the hassles of removing your electronic items, shoes, etc. When TSA Pre-Check opens at 4:15/4:30am, reviewing documents is not the only reason people purchase this. It's so they can avoid removing items from their carry-ons and from their persons. So, open up a pre-check scanner as well. read more

I have traveled to nearly all 50 states and this TSA checkpoint is the ABSOLUTE worse one I have ever seen and that is definitely saying something... I have TSA pre check and it's supposed to be a pretty quick process since we did background checks and whatever else they require but not at this airport. We waited like 20 minutes for like 8 of us. They made my mom and 5 other people remove their shoes and they made me take out my Nintendo switch, my computer, and all my chargers. They also kept my cell phone and had to run scans on it. What the fuck? The point of pre check is to have to NOT do ANY OF THIS. Sadly I have to travel frequently to Houston for the rest of this year and part of next so I am not looking forward to going through this TSA line. read more

Houston, we have a problem. The problem is that getting here was so smooth and seamless that I didn't ever really stop long enough to remember to drink my coffee. Car return - shuttle service - bag check - ID check, and just like that I'm at the scan-o-matic, and as my bag went into the tunnel I saw my coffee cup and winced. Told the agent that it's full of coffee before it even made it to X-ray and got politely escorted out of the secure area. yea for me? Ten minutes later I'm back with an empty cup having another go. Couple of sidelong glances, a wink, a nod, and an amused smile later and I'm off for more coffee and then sit and wait for my plane. Four stars for the smurfs at HOU who did a good job of getting me through the queue swiftly. It helped that I am a CLEAR subscriber and so I get to skip a lot of the queue and then I also pay for Global Entry which gets me a Known Traveler Number and Precheck most of the time. Still, I was early for my flight so when I was "randomly selected" for additional screening - it's been random three of the last four times, go figure - I had enough time to insist on a manual patdown instead of the irradiation machine. My TSO was reasonably thorough but it was obvious that he was just going through the motions. I'd hate to see what might happen if a real bad guy tried to get something stupid past these people. Prolly one of the better TSA agents at this airport compared to others. They are friendly, carry a smile and seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs while making the experience better for the travelers and families. They listen to you and help you out as fast as they can. I wish all TSA agents at other airports were awesome as these folks. ISACC that works in the front of passenger drop of at the baggage counter check in was amazing. Tsa precheck closed at 6 pm and I was already cutting it close. I opted out of the full body scanner for personal reasons and was told that my exposed stuff at the other end is none of their responsibility and the risk I take for opting out. There was no sense of urgency to get a female assist. When I asked to go through the metal detector they forcefully told me no since I opted out. 20 minutes later and someone finally came to give me the pat down. Tsa is seriously a joke. They clearly enjoy wielding power over is knowing we have to listen to them with no recourse. read more

I've had horrible experiences trying to talk to airline representatives but Brandy has really made me feel comfortable and cared for. She showed great hospitality and took her time as well as made the impossible, possible. Me and my family would have been stuck at the airport for 4 hours if it wasn't for her. Today's interaction with TSA was efficient. There were plenty of agents so the lines were short and moved at a nice pace. The agents were friendly except for one. Why only three stars? One of the inspector made us empty out our two original and unopened boxes of KIND trail bars for inspection. We asked what was the problem? He gave no answer. I agree with the other reviewers that TSA is a sham, but unfortunately it's a reality for anybody choosing to/ needing to travel via commercial airlines, so I'll refrain from using Yelp as a forum for my political rants... In comparison to other security checkpoints, the one here at Hobby is much easier to get through than most. I attribute it to Southwest Airlines' large presence here, along with the relatively small size of the airport. The TSA officers here are typically pretty friendly, even if inefficient at times, but it is what it is. I've never had to wait a crazy amount of time in the line and they do a decent job dispersing the main line between the scanning/ detector stations. If the scanner gets backed up, they'll call people through the metal detectors to speed things up. I always allow plenty of time before my departure and my work travel is usually on early Wednesday mornings, so I'm sure it can get pretty busy on peak business travel days and at the holidays, but so far, I've not experienced that. If this was a publicly held company, you would be closed!!! But since you are not, how about even trying or even pretending to try and provide an expedient service. The TSA agents I met in Houston were friendly, polite and efficient. They did their jobs professionally and with respect for the passengers. Here's an example, a child left his little blue truck on the x-ray machine belt. The officers made several general announcements regarding the lost toy. Eventually the toy and the child we're reunited!!!! Smiles all around! read more

I opted out at Hobby Airport to avoid additional X-ray in my life so I needed the put down. I waited about ten minutes before a male finally came over to give me the pat down. TSA attitude was piss poor and could care less about the traveling passenger that have a flight to take. I'm not saying only one person is like that and I have experienced that several times at Hobby airport over the past few years. I suggest that everyone opt out to avoid the X-ray.
