    Spelt Pasta with Mediterranean Vegetables

Enjoyed a great meal at this restaurant. Surprising for a hotel restaurant. Excellent flavors and nice presentation. The small house salad was quite large and excellent.

As a frequent guest at Marriott hotel for work I've eaten at this restaurant numerous times (coming from work late, it's the most convenient option). They offer seasonal menu with some constant meat dishes. I've mostly eaten vegetarian and fish dishes here, but I've heard from coworkers that meat dishes are also OK. Fish was fantastic each time I've ordered it. Salads are very large with variety of good (dark) greens with a little bit too much dressing for my taste. Avocado starter is outstanding and filling and great to order with vegan bean soup (unfortunately very salty). Salad with veal liver was outstanding. Veal cheeks are slow cooked and really tasty. Prior to meal they serve fresh bread from bakery which you can dip into olive oil with pepper- this amazing combination is very filling. Seating outside in the summer gives views of Neckar river so I definitely recommend. Staff is super friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. I recommend this restaurant if you happen to be staying at this hotel.

If you're in Heidelberg and staying at Marriott, don't go further to dine out in the streets. Grille16 have a relaxing ambiance and great food. No need to take a taxi. Grille16 have excellent staff and their menu is simply exquisite and unpretentious. Vanessa had a warm and friendly smile and serves the food with zest and vigor.

Small Cesar salad with grilled chicken. Fresh bread and olive oil. Very good!

The steak and lamb was cooked so beautifully! I can not begin to describe how wonderful the whole experience was.

With only a few tables in the place you quickly make new friends and end up dining next to strangers. We originally sat with a couple of local Germans and after they left a musician from the local college joined for her meal. Great schnitzel options here and true charm stood out for us. Would highly recommend this place to others in Heidelberg.

The weather was beautiful for sitting outside. I wish I had gotten our server's name because he was outstanding. Friendly, witty, and willing to help navigate the menu - he made our dining experience even better. We started with a couple of local wines that were amazing - a red and a rosé. Some bread and butter came to our table with our escargot starter and side salad. The bread and starter were delicious. Our snails were hot and garlicky with plenty of juice to sop up. The side salad was also very tasty and fresh. For our mains I went with the Schnitzelbank Platter and my lady went with the Pepper Schnitzel. My platter came with a local delicacy called saumagen, as well as roasted pork, sausage, roasted potatoes, and sauerkraut. The saumagen was the highlight for me. Our server was also excited we got it. It is a local offering consisting of various meats and other items wrapped up in a stomach and served as a loaf-style meat. The pepper schnitzel was also outstanding - the sauce was indeed peppery, but it didn't smother the schnitzel, which was breaded nicely and not dry, as some schnitzels can be. And after all that food, still, an apple strudel. This was so worth it. I don't even like sweets in the USA, but in Europe, they are something else. This was something else. We had a lot of great meals on our trip, but this was probably the best. Not just for the food, but for the overall experience, it's easy to see why this is the shining star in Heidelberg.

The staff is so kind, with smiles all around. The food, however, varies quite dramatically. The first thing to note is that the prices aren't too bad. You can get your fill for under €10 here. Their burgers and fries are delicious. The burgers especially are quite large. Their steaks are pretty disappointing, though. I asked for mine to be medium rare and it came out well done. The fat wasn't marbled and was just in one strip, even though I had ordered the ribeye (this was likely not a ribeye). The salad that I ordered was heavily DRENCHED in dressing and cheese, and there was little variety of greens and other assortments in it. My friend had ordered the Mac-and-cheese, and it was hands down the worst we've ever had. It looked very liquid-y, much closer to a soup, which initially we assumed was cream and cheese, but upon eating it, we figured out it was actually WATERY. Germans apparently don't know how to make Mac-and-cheese. I've had better $1 instant mac-and-cheeses. The waitress, though, noticed we didn't like it and ended up not charging us for it. Seriously, cannot stress how kind the wait staff is. I'd still definitely come back. Though the food varies and can be mediocre, it's often pretty good, and the experience is well worth it.
