Ordered a gyro and chicken shawarma, with a side of sambosas at the counter. Guy who took my order was efficient but not chatty. All dishes were cooked to order, arrived hot and were bagged to go. When I got home we enjoyed the sambosas especially and were pleasantly surprised by the collection of spices blended in the potato pastry. The gyro and shawarma were fine, but we hoped for more and diverse vegetables in the sandwich although the meat and the rest of the sandwiches as presented were acceptable. read more

I don't know how I've never had Mantoo's before because they were phenomenal. Mantoo: STAR of the show, these dumplings were not only so pretty but SO tasty and probably my new obsession. Chicken tikka kabob: Cooked well, a classic and my usual go-to. Chicken & beef koobidah combo: Another classic but the seasoning on these were SO flavourful. The sides: bread, rice, chickpeas, chanti & white sauce were all sooooo good and paired perfectly with the entrées. We've been coming here for years, but something changed, likely new management. The service is now horrific. Staff is rude, argued about overcooked (hard) flatbread, and the plates are visibly dirty. We asked for paper plates as a backup to not cause trouble, they were majority filthy and stained. This place was always a bit grimy, but the good food used to make up for it. Now, there's not many redeeming aspects left. Hesitant to return. read more

My regular kabob joint. They have a bunch of delicious options and also fresh daily sides. I ordered the super deluxe meal $21.95, which has a skewer if each meat, lamb, chicken, steak and kobidah. It also comes with salad and side of choice of veges and we chose the chickpeas. The amount on Deluxe is definitely enough for 2-3 people. I also ordered kids chicken meal with fries for the little one. They are super friendly and provide quality Afghan and halal kabobs. read more

I ordered 4 platters for an event on a Sunday. The restaurant doesn't officially cater on Sundays so they combined the platters into a family style format. The lamb and chicken were excellent. The beef kubideh was a bit dry, which is unfortunate because it is usually my favorite. The Afghan bread was half delicious and half tough and overly chewy. I've done delivery several times here and came in once in person for carry out. You really like the kubideh chicken and beef (minced meat with spices). The rice is good and so is the flatbread. We usually have leftovers. the place itself is a little bit of a hole in the wall. There are a few people eating in and it's more of a order at the front and self-serve. read more

Apparently they close earlier than what's posted on Yelp, and the guy who answered my phone call made sure to tell me so (as in to rush me). The beef kubideh was cooked well but for whatever reason it had a gamey taste to it, to where I thought I was eating lamb. I stopped in here in need of meat - protein! After ingesting a certain amount of alcohol, I always NEED meat - beef or lamb preferably. So I hit this place this evening around 9:00 pm. I was thinking Gyro all the way. I ordered the Gyro platter - which comes with a basic salad (lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and a yogurt-based dressing) french fries (with a sprinkling of some sort of chili powder), and the Gyro meat on bread, with the thickest yogurt/dill sauce I've ever seen. The meat was done just the way I love it - well done to the point of being just a tad crisp on the outside. My one gripe? There was not enough meat. When I go to Pizzarama or Knossos - they give you considerably more meat. Still - very tasty. read more

I heard about this restaurant and placed it on my radar for my next visit to Fairfax. I sat-in for the dinner buffet and was exceptionally pleased. I'm a low-carb low-sugar person and found plenty of things to eat. It's not a large buffet, but everything is appealing. I eventually zeroed-in on the chicken and ground chicken kabobs, which were absolutely delicious. I also enjoyed the curry chicken and salad. For the price of the buffet (just under $14 with tax), you can't beat the bargain. They also have a take-out option for $6.99 per pound. And of course, you can order from a menu. The dining area is clean and the parking is more than adequate. (It's situated in a nice modern strip mall. The woman behind the counter was exceptionally friendly. Reliable place to get food. Service is quick and portions are generous. The chicken tikka is always a good option if you don't know to get. The rice and bread is delicious. The side salad is just a meh side salad. You should get the spinach for your side, but if you like to gamble, don't say anything and it'll be a 50/50 toss up for spinach or chickpeas. Both are good, so it's a win/win. The gyro platter is also a solid option too. They give you a handful of fries that are super crispy, and you get the same type of bread as the other entrees - not pita bread. You don't get a side though, but that's fine. If you call ahead, it usually only takes 10 minutes for them to assemble your order. read more

Great chicken shawarma wrap! Flavorful and a nicely sized portion, came with a spicy green sauce and a mild white sauce which were both tasty. Wrap came out to be ~$9.50 . Plenty of seating inside and there is also a small bench to sit at while you wait for your takeout. read more
