Fairly basic looking restaurant with seating for about 10 parties of 4 it looks like. Unfortunately plays country music. The service is very friendly and attentive, but not too in your meal. I liked to see that the menu was pretty concentrated, not trying to be too many things. I got some wings, a barbacoa burrito, and a singular fish taco. For the wings I got them naked with ginger orange sauce. They were hot, crispy, and you could get the orange flavor. Not so much on the ginger, but you could see the ginger in the sauce on the plate. The fish taco, I was told, is one of their most popular dishes, and I can taste why. The vegetables and squirt of lemon went a long way in having this taste fresh and vibrant, while the sauce and fish were not heavy and allowed for an easy eating taco. The burrito, what a burrito it was. Since the tortilla reminded me of a crispy pizza crust, and they serve pizzas here, I imagine this got finished off in the pizza oven. The filling was all balanced, between the meat, rice, and cheese, while the crisp tortilla gave it a crunch. I was also really impressed with the prices here, super reasonable and that's before the military discount. I'll definitely be trying this place again. read more

Fantastic find! Thank you Interweb Goddess of Eats for leading me to this spot! Was craving Mexican while on road doing school assemblies in CT. Their menu is very good. WINGS. Ordered 6 as a guilty appetizer. Came exactly as hoped for with extra crunch. Buffalo Garlic very nicely proportionate and zingy. Fresh celery/carrots too. The Birrira Taxo special as good as I've had. Generous and flavorful portion of meat, tacos were fresh homemade. Served was extra warm, cheerful and helpful. Extra shout out to her serving "the moon" booth. Don't pass this gem up. read more

Overall fine experience but I need to average it out at 3 due to the highs and lows. For starters let's be clear, it is not solely a Mexican restaurant. It's more of a bar and grill that specializes in Mexican. They also have burgers, pizza, and pasta for the non Mexican food eaters. I have mixed feelings on the food. The chimichanga was one of the best I've ever had. It was so unique and flavorful. I loved it. Unfortunately the sides were all just average. The rice and beans were bland and the chips tasted average. The margaritas were below average. They were very sour and not strong at all. The presentation however was very nice. I loved the cute little mugs!! The service time was average but the people were super sweet!! They were all very nice and accommodating. The ambiance was also average. The restaurant side was very bland with minimal artwork or anything. The bar side, however, had nice art and twinkle lights that were very pretty. Their biggest pro was the price. They were super inexpensive and you get a lot for the price. I loved that! Overall I would come back, but would probably try some other places first. They have a lot of potential!! read more

I first attempted to eat at this restaurant on a Thursday evening. There was no available parking on site which, I deemed as a potential positive as it was so popular. On entering the establishment I was informed there were no tables available due to "trivia night". The restaurant was packed with an older crowd that wasn't eating but having wine etc. Nothing to suggest trivia night was lucrative for ordering food from he restaurant. The following Sunday I ordered takeout. Both pizzas were alright but excessively salty. The grinder was on stale bread. The fish and chips tasted like they were cooked in old oil and tasted of other fried food. No tartare sauce or coleslaw but generous amount of unseasoned fries. Sadly after hearing so many positives about this restaurant it will not be somewhere I return to. read more

Last night my daughter took me here for my birthday. It started off great, waitress was nice, we ordered our food and one of the specials was crunchy lobster taco. You get two for $16 . Thought I would try it. Well I get my plate and it's almost like nothing just the two tacos and the lobster meat was deep fried to make it crunchy 4 small burnt looking pieces and tasted like burnt grease. I said something to the waitress and she had the manager come over. He came over with a huge attitude. Maybe insulted someone didn't like something I don't know. He was rude I explained this was my first time here and it's my bday dinner and that this was almost nothing for the price. He didn't seem happy and did nothing . It's not like everything else was not good because it was. My daughter's food was good I ended up eating some of that. But soon as we made the complaint even the waitress didn't come back as much all 3 of us sat there with empty cups for a while. Finally got another drink and this time it was made with less things in it then the last time. I work right near here as an emt and I definitely would buy lunch or dinner from there while working but the managers attitude towards me definitely made me think twice before ever giving him my money again. read more

We were looking for a place to stop on our trip home and saw a review of this little place online. Definitely a neighborhood type place - bar was quite full. Everything down to the side of mexican rice was delicious. Shrimp were jumbo size and cooked perfectly in my husband's fajita. Enjoyed the chicken enchilada which was GF. Food was good, small and cozy, friendly staff. I'm not big on that kind of food and I thought it was delicious. Fish tacos were my favorite.

Worst Mexican food I have ever had. The enchiladas were dry and way over cooked. Despite the plate being hot out of the oven, the refried beans were cold, and the shredded cheese not melted. There didn't seem to be any sauce on the enchiladas at all. Husband's tacos were a bit of a train wreck, they just fell apart and were unmanageable. The barbacoa was good, so he just ate that with a fork and called it good. The menu has a wide variety of choices such as pizza, sandwiches and American dinners, maybe those are better options but stay away from the Mexican. Service was very slow for not being busy, but waitress was very nice. read more

This was my first time eating here. We ordered take out.Portions were large with the exception of the Guacamole side.My husband and I split a barbacoa burrito with sides of rice and beans. Authentic Mexican fare at a great price. Definitely will eat here again. read more

This places def suffers from identity crisis. When we came here we came to the right side from the bar and were the only people in here. The left side appears to be more of a bar/lounge area and the right side could've been a more family friendly restaurant but the fluorescent lighting made it difficult to be comfortable in that area. We got the taco specials and they were actually really good. My son enjoyed them as well. I got the taco salad which was huge but good and my sons father got the quesadilla's. They weren't bad but a little bland definitely! But the menu was striking- they had so many different types of food, Italian, American, etc. But overall the food was quite good! Just suffers a bit of an identity crisis. Our waitress was very friendly as well! It wouldn't be my first choice for Mexican food but considering that it's located in the middle of nowhere with very few restaurants nearby I would definitely eat here again! read more

Favorite happy hour restaurant in Plainfield. Big meaty wings with many varieties. Inexpensive margaritas and 1/2 price appetizers Monday-Friday 2-6. It's become a tradition already. Excellent restaurant food as well. read more

Placed an order the other night. Ordered a child taco salad and chicken tenders and fries. Taco salad was $7 fries and tenders were $13. Bill came to $30. My husband came home with the order and was surprised it was so expensive. I called and spoke To the rudest manager I have ever dealt with. He told me I hadn't ordered a child's salad but an adult one. I finally had to hang up on him he was so nasty. On top of that the food was lousy. I ended up throwing the taco salad in the garbage. I'm torn over this rating. I want to give this place two or three different ratings, not just one or an average. First, my drinks - margarita with Cabo, were awesome. I'd rate them a 6. Fresh, light, no bottled mixer, just perfection in a glass. Second - service - a solid 5. My waiter (who also mixed the drinks) was friendly, not overly intrusive, and it didn't hurt that she was 'easy on the eyes'. Third - sadly - the food. My fish tacos were somewhere below 'mediocre'. The fish was in the form of 'fish nuggets', and tasteless. Fillings etc. boring. Came with no sides. (Would a scoop of tasty rice and beans break the bank here?) Any home cook could best this dish. When I'm in the area again, I'll stop back, order a drink, and try something else off the menu. Hopefully they do something Mexican very well. read more

Don't be thrown off by the name and description! This place does have Mexican food on the menu but also lots of American food too! The dishes here are modern, delicious and fairly priced. The two times we came here, we LOVED it! The food is great, the drinks are made well, ambience is a plus and the girls on staff are all sweethearts. A new gem!! This place is a hidden gem. Great food and friendly staff. We were up birding and fishing on the Moosup river when we stopped in for really good tacos and homemade chili. The other night I had a wonderful plate of chicken parm at Plainfield's local MEXICAN restaurant. I was very confused but the food was delicious so no complaints here! $8 pasta nights on Thursday nights. I ordered the chicken parmigiana with spaghetti, my fiancé the same but with ziti. Portion was huge and the chicken was nice and crispy like it should be! Very affordable, bunch of craft beer on tap. Waitress was very friendly and accommodating with a good sense of humor. My husband and I eat here almost every week. The tacos are amazing as is everything else we have ever ordered such as the pizza, salads, and fajitas. One of the best restaurants in this area. The bartenders, especially Danielle and Ashley, are awesome. They make great drinks and are always friendly. The owner always makes a point to come out and wave hello. Great find in Plainfield, CT. I've taken family and friends here 3 times now and no one has been disappointed. The one reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the menu can be a tad pricey but since we are from West Hartford it doesn't make a difference for us. His food was okay, but definitely nothing special. Our food came out rather quickly, however when I bit into my taco I felt that there was a bone, I took it out and went for another bite... Another bone (both of these were small) then thought I'd give one of my other tacos a try, bad idea. This time I bit into a rather large (bigger than a quarter sized) bone! Seriously? My husband and I stopped here kind of randomly on a trip to Eastern Connecticut based on the reviews. It was excellent! Low-key vibe, the service was really good, and the food was excellent! They start off with a complementary tray of salsa and chips which are excellent really good--fresh salsa! Not too hot, just right. We had an app of calamari: not Rhode Island good but still good. For lunch I ordered a trio of fish tacos and my husband had the beef and chorizo tacos. The tacos are served in small, soft tortillas, which is my preference. My husband had a meal so his came with a little side salad of fresh cucumbers and he really enjoyed the tacos. I had the fish tacos which were delicately fried slices of cod with shredded lettuce and a sauce. I couldn't eat more than one. We also each had a house margarita with salt, and neither of us finished them! Our entire bill was only about $35, and we left $10 for the excellent server. Would def go back! read more
