Pretty awesome place. Sort of off the beaten path in Hickory Ridge but it's worth the drive. Place is clean and super friendly. The owner is always there and will offer you great customer service and samples of the chicken if you want. I recommend the Fiesta Plater or Grand Fiesta Plater. Their menu options are about the same as the other Pollo places, however, they also have the cow heart on a skewer which is tasty! Warning: If you're susceptible to gout or is not an adventurous eater like me, then I advise you not to get the cow heart skewer. Organ meats are full of uric acid and will give you gout quickly! Also since it's the heart, the flavor and texture of the meat is different from the other parts of a cow. It has a irony taste to it and the the meat is tough and chewy. I personally like it and would order it again whenever I'm here. Their chicken is tender and delicious. There are plenty of "pollo" places out there that aren't that good but this place is definitely up there in terms of overall quality. read more

If service was ok, I would have gone back but definitely not after my experience. The staff was so extraordinarily rude that I will never want to go back. I like that kinda service but I told him they should def rethink that as a standard because thats one of the biggest let downs with these chicken places. How does it make any sense that 1 quarter chicken is 1 of each sauce but then an entire chicken only has enough sauce for half a chicken?! 1 of each is only good for the quarter and dipping of your fries/yucca. This is one of the best Peruvian chicken places I have been to, and definitely the best in Columbia. The chicken is just absolutely delicious, and my husband and I have to get more every time we are in the area. The prices are reasonable and there are great lunch specials, and service is very quick. I recently injured my knee and came in for lunch. The owner, James, was so attentive and kind. He opened the door for me, helped me to my seat, assured me that I did not need to get up for anything, and made sure I walked back safely to my car. He remembers everyone's name, and you would be hard pressed to find better, more genuine service. They really care about their customers! I decided to try them out for a work lunch scheduled the next day. I ordered for about 15 people ( 7 half dark meat, 8 half white meat meals), more than 24 hours in advance, through carry out menu. First, I got a call that the restaurant might not have enough white meat chicken. I said that's fine, just substitute the dark meat. A few hours later I got a call that the restaurant just doesn't have enough chicken... A chicken restaurant that doesn't have enough chicken for 15 meals, more than 24 hours in advance? We tried this place out on a Tuesday night because we were in the HCGH area. I ordered 1/2 chicken with rice and beans and fried yuca. The amount of food was very generous (I ate my leftovers for lunch the next day) the chicken was tasty and moist, the rice and beans were nothing special and the yuca was crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. (Which is good). They use pico de gallo in their "chimichurri" sauce so it's not the authentic kind but it tasted good. The venue itself was nothing special but it was clean and they have take out menus as well as a big menu behind the register. I don't know if the cashier is also the owner but he was a bit odd. Friendly but an odd chatter. We inquired about delivery and he said they use a third party for it but discouraged is from using it because "they high jack the prices". This place has beat pretty much every hispanic restaurant I've been to and that's saying a lot. The half chicken has the best flavor I've ever tasted in chicken! If you usually like dark meat and are hesitant to try the half chicken because of the breast meat, you will be very pleasantly surprised at how much flavor and spice the chicken has. Also, I would suggest you try their yuca fries because they are to die for. They're very fresh and do not feel frozen. So I'm no Peruvian Chicken buff, but I have been to Pollo Rico (Silver Spring) my fair share of times so I'll be using that as my PC gold standard/point of reference. As part of an ongoing quest to find better eating out options near work, I found these guys on Yelp over a year ago. Sadly they were long closed at that point. Thanks to a well-placed ad (and coupon$) in the clipper mag by mail, here came my second chance. As I'm wont to do with new and promising food joints, I ordered way too much and tried all of it. Here's the breakdown: mains: *1/4 dark pollo a la brasa - textbook, juicy, great taste, charcoal broil stays on the palette. *chorizo - more like a traditional sausage than chorizo style, as far as I'm used to. very tasty nonetheless. *chicharones - for my money, and in my opinion, the best and purest chicharones you can get in the area. perfect taste, texture, and ratio of meat/fat/skin. sides: *yucca fries - hands down and far and away the best yucca fries I've had anywhere. the taste and texture are so on point, you won't even believe that they're yucca (or yucka as I'm accustomed to mostly). *plantains - perfect, textbook, caramelized. *peruvian fried rice - topped with green onions and teeming with morsels of chicken. delicious. desserts: *alfajores - very interesting dessert that I've never had before. basically a dulce de leche cookie sandwich. pretty tasty and worth a try! *flan - pretty textbook but good. less eggy than most, lighter syrup than most. I can't wait to try these guys again, in particular the aguadito, arroz con pollo, pescado fritos, anticucho, ceviche, and some of the other premium sides. Worth the money and a wait, and good bang for your buck. Pro Tip: wash it all down with an Inca Cola. Bubblegum-esque flavored soda, just like the ancient Incans used to drink. read more
