Vegan fast food that's fun, tasty and one of the most affordable options around? Yes please. I actually stumbled here randomly walking around Maria Hernandez park. There is a takeout window and make sure to check out the specials on the boards. I ordered the crispy chickn sandwich and the cubano. I devoured the chickn sandwich in about 30 seconds - the crispness, slightly greedy yet spicy hint of the chipotle sauce hot the craving just right. I did like the Cubano as well but found myself wanting seconds of the chickn sandwich. Can't wait to try more of their items!

Fun little vegan streetshop next to Hernandez Park! Love to see the access to more burger-bar options for us; the line queued up more than I had expected at 7:30 pm on a weeknight, but it still only took ~10-15 minutes to get my food. I got the Chicken Caesar Wrap. I was craving one in the moment, but in hindsight this was probably the wrong decision, as there are so many other popular things on their menu that were more reputed. It wasn't "ranchy" enough and while tasty/semi-healthy, it lacked a bit more of that oomph you want when getting a post-run meal. I would love to come back and try some of their other menu! Pretty affordable as well, at around $10.

I've tried this spot on two separate occasions and honestly I have mixed reviews. I'll start by saying that I love the fact that this restaurant is conveniently a walk up and order fast food joint in Bushwick. Affordable vegan food is always a win. Both times I've been the staff was always super friendly and helpful. However, the food is so very questionable. The first time I ordered the Classic Burger and Loaded Fries. The burger was quite tasty and on par with a standard Beyond Burger. The Loaded Fries were just okay. The fries themselves were decent. However the chili, and the cheese sauce lacked flavor and were bland. They brought down the quality of the whole dish. Tbh it ended up all just tasting mushy. If they added seasoning to the chili, and cooked it for longer, it would be a lot better. Overall the meal was decent. I'd rate it a 3/5. On the second occasion I ordered the Choripan and Philly Cheesesteak. The worst meal I've eaten in a long time. The Choripan was slimy and flavorless. The sausage itself was fine, the best part of the sandwich. However, the sauce they used had a VERY unpleasant slimy texture and was very sour. When it came to the Philly cheese, the seitan was undercooked and unseasoned. There weren't any redeemable qualities, unfortunately. Honestly both dishes were so questionable I had to drink of kombucha after to settle my stomach. Unfortunately I'd have to rate it a 1/5. I want to like this place so bad, but the last meal felt like it would've given me food poisoning. If I do return I'd probably just get a burger. Again, affordable vegan food is a win. But simply put, there are better vegan fast food restaurants.

Super awesome little vegan spot by the park. Very affordable for being vegan and having great options, super friendly and awesome staff, and just overall a super cute "vegan fast food style" business. I got the bacon egg and cheese sandwich and my girlfriend got the philly cheesesteak. We both loved what we got. I cant wait to go back and try out some of the other things on the menu! 10/10 would recommend! Love it here. Also, btw there is a small enclosed seating/dining area on the side of the stand with a few tables for you to eat at if you please!

An amazing spot right next to Maria Hernandez Park! The staff is so friendly and the food is TOP NOTCH! The vegan chopper cheese is and the delivery service is reliable and quick! 10/10 would recommend this spot for lunch or dinner!

Tried this spot for the first time. About 30 min before closing. Cool spot, the service was great. super friendly guy. Tried the 10 pc tenders and a hot dog. Price point was really good. But the proportions can be a little small but makes sense for the price point. My girl got the arepa burger and that was delicious. Also got a strawberry shake.

Warm atmosphere, a strong selection of vegan food and drinks, and the kind of place that made the evening feel special without trying too hard. It's since closed, and from what I understand it wasn't about the food or the love from regulars, it was the brutal economics of running a sit-down restaurant in a delivery-and-takeout world. Nine years of serving genuinely great vegan comfort food in Williamsburg, done in by margins rather than quality. That's a rough way for a good restaurant to go. If you ever got to eat here, you know what was lost. If you didn't, I'm sorry you missed it.

The menu is stacked--sandwiches, hearty apps, macs, and cozy entrees that make you forget you're eating vegan. During my visit, they were running a Reuben sandwich special that seriously tempted me, but I went with the oyster mushroom calamari, and wow, the seasoning was spot on, and it could easily fool a seafood lover. My friend tried the seitan wings and was really impressed, even though he's usually not into mock meats. They came with super flavorful sauces and were definitely shareable. He also had the smash burger, which was a total win--savory, satisfying, and gave big diner vibes. We heard the milkshakes are amazing too, but we were too full to fit them in. Next time, for sure. Only downside? The service was on the slow side--we waited over 30 minutes between apps and mains. It's a popular spot, so some delay is understandable, but it was noticeable. Overall, I loved it and can't wait to go back with an emptier stomach and room for dessert.

Takeout review Price: $$ (burgers are $19-22) but its comes with seasoned fries (more on that below) and the burgers are HUGE Store: few seats in the back, otherwise takeout mostlly. they call you a "slut" upon entering and leaving (it's entertaining). Food: - Dancehall Burger- sounded interesting but the maduros were a miss. would have been better with avocado and bacon. the slut sauce made this burger. onions were grilled but not caramelized. overall it was a solid burger. - Hollywood Hooker: massive but kind of bland? the texture was spot on for a philly chopped sandwich. but no slut sauce :( get the burger - eggrolls: philly cheesesteak egg roll. it was popular. Solid choice. i couldnt tell it wasnt beef. i added sweet chilli sauce to it which added some spice. - Fries: one batch was hot, crunch, perfectly cooked and had great seasonings. the other batch was soggy and was likely sitting out. if you get the fries fresh its worth it. It's not like one was actually reserved, but hey, it worked out, so I'm happy about that. Onto the food: I am half Haitian, and I may not speak Haitian Kreyol, but I know my Haitian food. I can prove my Haitian ethnicity by cooking traditional dishes. The legume was on point! That dish was my favorite. My friend truly enjoyed her salmon. Honestly, I wish I had gotten the salmon to take home instead of the Haitian fried chicken. Now, that wasn't that great to me, and I didn't enjoy it :( I'm still giving them all the stars and all the props because I really appreciated the service. This was my first time trying a Haitian patty with spinach, and it was absolutely fantastic. I think it's even better than the chickpea one. I would definitely highly recommend this place and also go back. But the Haitian fried chicken need to be better. Still, I'll definitely come again and try the salmon next time!!!

I ordered the vegan platter whose black beans were smooth and piping hot, alongside the crispy fried tostones and meaty vegan meatballs. In fact the meatballs were so meat-like that neither my sister nor my husband could belief that they were made of jackfruit. The white rice was also extremely fluffy and moist and judging by the diligent rice-washing that was taking place behind the counter as we ate, I could tell that the staff really works hard to make it not just an afterthought, but a quality addition to the meal. My sister also really enjoyed her shrimp plate while my husband devoured his half-chicken platter. The sauces on our platters were also extremely flavorful, complementing the proteins in a beautiful way. All of us left Lakou Cafe feeling happy and satisfied with the portion sizes and level of quality. 10/10 I will definitely be heading back to this place the next time I'm in Brooklyn!
