I was starving as usual late at night, so we tried to find a place that was open all night or at least very very late. My son found Grillies , so I checked out the menu and decided I wanted tacos or burritos. I ordered two beef burritos on a wheat shell . Both my boys ordered beef burritos with white flower shells and each got an order of poutine I tried their poutine and it was very good. My burritos were OK, but they had some taste that was a little off and I cannot put my finger on what it was. Ordering them was a bit weird because online it has some odd questions like how do you want them and they want little medium or lot of flavor or something like that. Which I thought was strange. They weren't talking hotness because they asked that down below, so I was confused about the taste. Yeah, something was in them. That was a little odd tasting, but they were still edible. Not too bad I would probably get them again, but I would try other things from there and their poutine was very good so I would probably get that . I did not go into this restaurant , so I cannot tell you what it was like. But they are open until 4 AM which was definitely a plus !! read more

I was walking along Yonge street nearby Sheppard centre. I noticed the poster of daily specials for $9.99. I went in to order the Friday special, the shredded beef burrito. There was also advertised a 10% discount with any added side dish or beverage. I ordered a soda with my meal. The sandwich was good. Later, I looked at my bill. I noticed I was charged the full price of the sandwich not the $9.99 price and there wasn't a 10% discount. I totally felt that this was misleading false advertising. I did not have much expectations when I walked through their doors but am happy to say that I came out of the place a happy customer. I ordered the Monster burger and the chicken breast burger with a side of fries. The Monster burger comes with a beef as well as a chicken patty in case you were wondering. You begin by choosing which sauce you would like your burger(s) is grilled in (I chose the spicier option but did not notice the heat). Next you choose your toppings from a long list of ingredients and sauces of items and sauces which ranged from lettuce, tomatoes and pickles all the way to fried eggs and extra bacon (which both cost extra). For the sauce I chose the secret sauce because why would you choose anything else if a secret option is available. Overall the burgers tasted great and the portions were good given the price. My partner who is a self proclaimed "fries expert" loved the fries here so take that for what it's worth. The service was pretty good here as the lady was patient in walking me through the topping selection process and giving me recommendations when asked. There is a good amount of seating and is pretty spaced out so it did not feel cramped at all. I enjoyed my visit to Grillies greatly as the burgers were delicious and filling. They also sell items like burritos and tacos in case burgers are not your thing. They offer daily specials as well so take advantage of those on your visit here. read more

Much better reviews than expected. The service was good, the person working there was patient, came to take orders right away, willing to make small changes and was courteous. The space though, a couple tables in a space that could fit more. It looked drab, chairs were plastic lawn chairs, one of which was broken. The food itself is also unmemorable. read more

We loved how the Monster burger turned out. It was a great deal. The amount of freedom you have to customize your burger is also very much appreciated. Minus points for me was the very long wait time we had to endure. For what looks like a quick-serve restaurant, the time we spent waiting was unacceptable. Not horrible, But definitely not great either. Not even good really when you get down to it. I've been there at least twice now. It's one of the few places where you can order hot food and sit down at a table and eat it 24 hours a day. Something that is no longer a given anywhere in Toronto. Even Fran's (College) at my last attempt only served take-out. Two problems with Grillies (Danforth) though. First, the washroom(s?) never seem to be in working order or available to the public. On my first visit the door was unlocked and what I saw inside should not be within a mile and a half of any place that serves food, much less right NEXT to a kitchen and dining area. I'm fairly certain that's a health code violation. Hope there's no inspection soon. Second, when the sign says cheddar cheese (for burgers) and you specifically ask the guy behind the counter to confirm it and he DOES you kind of expect your burger to have cheddar cheese on it. The sign does NOT say industrial, yellow, plastic-wrapped substance which is almost, but not quite, entirely unlike cheese. Such a disappointment to find American processed cheese-like substance on it instead. Yeah, I ate it but I would have been well within my rights to ask him to make me a fresh burger without that crap. I was told (and I believe him) that the boss told him to say that. How lovely. I do like their loaded fries. But the only time I ordered a hamburger here I was asked how spicy I wanted it. I asked for no spice. I did have mustard, lettuce and pickles. This place offers daily special - you can get a burger for $4.99 or burrito for $5.99. I came here today (Friday) and got the shredded beef special. I opted for the burrito option. You can make it a combo (fries and pop) for additional $2.99. They offer whole wheat or white burrito shell. The options for the shredded beef were medium, spicy or bbq flavour. They were generous on the portion of beef and I chose the spicy option. The spice level wasn't too spicy but tasted alright. They offer a lot of veggies such as lettuce, tomato, corn, onion, cucumber, hot banana peppers, jalopeno peppers, olives, and carrots. They only have white rice - It's not your typical burrito rice, it's more like balsamic rice. One thing I found unique was that they offer b beans or chick peas. I didn't mind that option and added both beans and chickpeas in my burrito. They have a large selection of sauce, however, if you want sauce on the side it's an additional $1. I really enjoy the amount of toppings they have. I just didn't enjoy the burrito as much since it was too soaked (I had minimal sour cream, special sauce, and hot sauce in my burrito). Meh, very standard fare. I got the bacon cheese burger $8 with fries, coke $3. I wouldn't recommend getting the bacon, it's the microwavable stuff that ends up being burnt. The beef itself was a bit burnt on the sides as well making it medium well done. I usually prefer mily burgers medium rare but maybe that's the standard here? Fries are regular, good if you need something to munch on. Staff is nice and there seems to be many in the kitchen making food even when there's only me and another table. This place is huge so there's always table space. I've definitely had better burgers but it's good enough when you're hungry. Just skip the bacon. read more

Great vegan options! I ordered through Just Eat and got a veggie burger (confirmed vegan by owner), fries, chickpea tacos ("medium" heat beans) and red kidney bean burritos ("spicy" heat beans). The prices are reasonable and there are so many free toppings you can add to your burger/burrito/taco. Standard items like lettuce, tomato, onion, hot peppers, but also items like rice, potatoes and grilled vegetables. Everything was super fresh and tasty and my note about no dairy was honoured. We actually went to the Bayview location and ordered the burrito with sweet BBQ sauce. It was SO GOOD. Not authentic Mexican but omg was it delish. And the people there were super nice. The place is small and you have to go down stairs to get to it from the street so I never even thought of going in before but one night I was stuck for food and I was so glad I tried this place! It was so good that I went back the next day and ordered burgers (the only two things they offer on their menu). The burger was ALSO delish. I had the ice cream shake too. Went with family for a late lunch there, and it we were the only ones that were there. So I was a bit worried, since that's usually not a good sign, but we decided to go ahead anyways. When ordering, it can be a bit overwhelming the first time, since you can customize everything about everything. We ordered quite a few items: Poutine, steak salad, chicken burger, monster burrito, fish taco. All ingredients were fresh, so everything tasted good. Kids enjoyed the poutine and chicken. The salad was fresh and you can customize it to your hearts content. The monster burrito was great, good favour meats (checiken/beef), fresh veggies, and had no other starch which is what I ordered and wanted. Service was good, since we were the only ones in there. Lots of people were there for takeout, so there was a steady stream of people going in and out of the people and lots of food delivery services. I also underestimated the heat of the hot sauce - in moderation it probably would have been fine, but man was that thing soaked in hot sauce! The chicken burrito my friend ordered was better, a bit on the sweet side for a burrito but I don't mind sweet at all. The caramelized mango is a unique and delicious topping option. I have had a change of heart! After trying what sorts of burritos other restaurants have to offer, I can confidently say that Grillies trumps them all! The sweet barbecue sauce they use to cook (re-heat really) the meat with is the absolute best!! After having that dancing on my taste buds, burritos from other places just taste like bland mush. I seriously can't get enough of it, especially paired with the pulled pork ($5.99 on Thursdays!) Since I'm still a novice concerning Mexican grub, I had much higher hopes for places which had been opened longer, ones that had thrived through the test of time (Chino Locos, Chipotle) but they all came across as just bland. True, those other places did cook the meat just right, so it wasn't as dry or as tough as what Grillies serves up, but they're also lacking in so much flavour. Grillies' sweet barbecue is seriously the bomb dot com! It's so amazing I can totally look past the overcooked meat and burnt tortillas, (through all of that, the burritos still taste amazing, how much more convincing do you need?) This probably isn't the biggest accolade ever, but in my opinion Grillies deserves five stars. read more

This place is a gem amongst the other divy spots in the neighbourhood. It is kept clean and the everything is legit fresh as you will see when ordering. My girlfriend ordered the beef tacos and said it was the best tacos she has ever had at an establishment. I had the slow cooked beef burrito and I don't know what kind of sauce they use but man oh man is it really good. I am a huge fan of Burrito Boyz but this thing gave it a run for its money without a doubt. We plan on going by again this week to have a smoothie that is actually made with real fruit and I have to try the tacos now as my gf refused to share. The staff were also very friendly and hopefully they can open up another location near us North Toronto. If you are in the area and you want very tasty food that gives you bang for your buck check this place out. read more

I loved this food. My boyfriend and I found this place when we were looking for delivery one afternoon and we were incredibly pleased with what we got. They let you customize your own food, and they have a good range of selections. What we got tasted amazing, and was well sized for the price we paid. The fries and onion rings were also delicious. The service was also very good, I ordered over the phone and the lady I spoke to was very direct and clear about all of the add-on payments and other information I needed. She read my order back perfectly and gave me my total, and her good communication was well appreciated. I paid exactly what I was told and I was informed about exactly what I was paying for. The guy delivering was also amazing. Not only was he very friendly, but he came back to return and extra $20 bill we had given him by accident. The food came within 20 minutes of ordering. My only complaint is their website. Although initially looking easy to use, the online ordering does not allow you to view or edit your items once you've added them, and will not allow you to checkout. We had to retry the order three times before giving up and using the phone. Overall, fantastic food for a good price, and good service. No surprises, very pleasant experience. This place is pretty good. I came by after the gym a couple months ago with a friend. The special of the day was the steak, so I got a Black Beauty burrito. My friend got a fish and a chicken taco. There's a decent selection of choice in terms of bread, toppings and sauces, plus some paid for toppings. I got fries with my burrito (which was large enough that I could only eat about half). The fries were pretty good. I found the price point to be good, however, the service seemed spotty. We were not attended to as well as some customers who came in after us (and from what we saw/heard they were not regulars). Also the food too a long time to be cooked considering we were the only customers they had for a good 15-20 mins. The atmosphere is very diner like, and they even offer milkshakes on the menu, however the menu is less diner like. I feel the atmosphere and decor are a way to appeal to the neighbourhood, which could be confusing when considering the actual food that is served. Overall, a good place, but nothing I would be going out of my way to visit. read more
