    José Feliciano reincarnated?

We both had steak tortas; the bread was perfectly toasted, and the meat and vegetable fillings were superb. Our waiter Raya was attentive and friendly; making sure our food was to our liking and our drinks were full. The musician playing guitar was a little loud, but he did know some CCR classics!

Precios promedio. Aceptan tarjeta. Parking en la plaza.

Checked this spot out this past Mexican Independence Day due to the good reviews. It's located in…read morethe Zona Rio area, which is an area packed with very well-regarded, highly-rated restaurants in TJ. The restaurant is located directly behind the TGI Friday's on General Rodolfo Sánchez Taboada Boulevard. Got there around 1:30 pm, not too long after they opened. Not many people in there, though that wasn't surprising given that it was a Monday and a federal holiday. One thing I love about Mexican fine dining restaurants is they tend to be very lax on dress code; I was dressed casually but that wasn't a problem. I don't think they technically have a dress code, though a comparable fine dining steak restaurant in the U.S. might not have let me in given that I was casually (although neatly) dressed. Was nearly empty so was seated immediately. Waiter was an older male who spoke pretty good English. Was brought out Acqua Panna spring water while I looked over the menu. I first ordered a frozen strawberry margarita (209 pesos or roughly $11). The margarita was solid and tasty. For my meal I decided to go with the petit ribeye (300g ribeye), which came with a complimentary side (chose mashed potatoes) and the soup of the day (potatoes and cream). The petit ribeye was 1389 pesos (~$73 USD). While waiting for the main meal, they brought out bread and then the soup (which came with crackers). Really liked the soup. The bread was perfectly fine, though nothing special. They provided standard crackers but there were also some very large, circular crackers they provided that I didn't really like. After finishing the soup and bread they brought out the ribeye and potatoes. Both were very good, the ribeye in particular was well-cooked and tasty. Not the best ribeye I've had in my life or anything like that, but it was solid. I also liked the spicy sauce and pico condiments that came with the meal. The ribeye and margarita came to 1598 pesos total; after tip the total bill came out to around $100 USD. While I enjoyed the meal, I don't think I'd return to El Grill at that price point. I've had better steak/ribeye meals for less even in the U.S. and had better meals for much less in TJ. But the meal here was good and I'd still recommend for anyone who's never been, just as a place to check out. The waiter and customer service overall was great and very attentive.

We decided to try this place because of the amazing Google reviews!…read more but boy, were we wrong! Hear me out. From the moment we arrived, we felt rushed to our seats. We asked to move outside to catch the game, and while the server accommodated us, it was clear he wasn't too thrilled about it. We started with drinks, which were actually great; so good that we ended up ordering three rounds plus shots! For appetizers, we had the grilled bone marrow and empanadas, followed by a New York strip loin (recommended by the server) with creamy spinach and truffle fries. The empanadas and fries were delicious, but the steak was completely bland, definitely not worth the price. We asked for a spicy salsa, and the server brought one out "on the house," which was amazing. I even asked to take the leftover salsa home. Now, here's where things turned shady. Throughout the meal, the server kept upselling us on everything; which we didn't mind since we were having a good time. But when the bill came, we noticed he charged us for the leftover salsa that he originally said was complimentary! It wasn't about the money, but the principle. We asked him to remove the charge and told him to forget the salsa. The manager noticed what happened, took care of the charge, and even packed the salsa with our leftovers. The server, however, never returned to the table after that. The ambiance and cleanliness were fine, but overall, the experience left a bad taste. VERDICT: I will not be coming back.

Both the mocktails and the cocktails were delightfully tasty. Our waiter Fernando was exceptional, going as far as to bring us the various cuts of meat when we have questions about what to order. The meat! The meat! The best steak my wife and I have had I'm recent memory! She had the Bite de Lomo. I had the arrechera. We both couldn't have been happier with our choice. We're already talking about making a trip down from San Diego to have dinner here!

This is my favorite restaurant in Tijuana. I have to be careful or I will eat too much. The Queso…read moreVaquero could be a meal in itself. It is rich melted cheese with chorizo served with tortillas. My other favorite appetizer is Cecina de Venado which is a sort of venison jerky. Don't expect the tough jerky you get at gas stations. No, this venison jerky is full of flavor and isn't completely dry. For the main meal I order the Parrilladas. Which comes with several sides. First is a cup of caldo de res, which is a beef stock soup. A salad, chips, salsa, a quesidilla and a bowl for pickled carrots, potatoes, onions and liver. The meat comes served on a hibachi like grill, still cooking the meat. You can choose three different meat combinations. The original which is ribs, carne asada and tripes. Next is the Silvestre which is venison, quail and goat. Lastly is the Vaquero which is sirloin, chicken breast and chorizo. The quail was spiced to mellow out the gamey flavor. It was excellent. For dessert, I ate a coyota, a sugar cookie filled with a brown sugar mixture. This is not like an American sugar cookie as a coyota is not that sweet. On hot days, I get a lime michelada with Sol and is light and refreshing. So if you want a real cowboy experience I highly recommend this restaurant. The decor is John Wayne, John Wayne and taxidermy. The waitors are fantastic. They brought me a chair without arms so that my rear wasn't squeezed into the regular chairs.

Me being in the industry for 30 years was very judgmental cause I look at everything when I walk in sorry bad habit. We were greated with smiles on entering, no wait time sat down and waited for our server since it was our first time there wasn't sure how it work. Very clean place tables everything. So our server taylor if i got her name right, I told her it was our first time here and she explained everything perfectly answered all our questions with a smile and happy attitude. Good job. Like I said I watch everything, like how long it takes for servers to get to the table how often they check back on the table. I also watch other tables and there servers on how they interact with the quest that come in to eat. So me and my son proceeded to go to the salad bar. Very clean and it looked great. Nice presentation . All the food on the salad bar tasted great. When we sat back down we had the meats start to arrive. Wow all the meats, chicken, fish ,and pork were cooked perfect no complaints. My favorite was the lamb. I love lamb and was looking forward to trying it. I was not disappointed perfect. Not gamie at all. So we had dessert at the end very good. I was very pleased with the experience. So since it went well I left a 100 tip for tayor cause I am sure that they tip out the runners and busers for all the work they do as well. She wouldn't except it but I left it anyway. Also great job kitchen staff for all the hard work you guys do as well. Thanks again chef mike. Next time II'll come with a bigger appetite.
