We got there about 10 minutes before they opened and there were still about 3-4 people already in line. The line never died down the entire time we were eating...it stayed long all the way to the door! You order what you want at the counter & they have take out or dine in options. We had a large party of 7 and we wanted to dine in, we found a nice big table in the corner. There was also some outdoor seating and a pop up Saturday Market in their courtyard. I wanted to try so many things so I got a Tri Combo with Meat Jun, Ono Chicken & Ahi Katsu...it's so worth the up charge for the Ahi...get it if you're thinking about it, it will NOT disappoint! The outside of the ahi was crisp but the center of the tuna was still rare...topped with mayo & unagi sauce, so good. The meat Jun was a really good quality meat sliced on the thicker side and coated in an egg batter & panfried. It served with a tart soy sauce that compliments the richness of each bite. The Ono Chicken was my 3rd item, crispy fried boneless, skin on chicken thigh tossed in a sweet & garlicky sauce...tastes like Hawaii. It is so rare to find a spot that tastes as good as the pictures + vids you see online. The ONO Chicken was absolutely delicious. We tried to get in on the good eats a couple of times here but always seemed to be a little too late as they would run out of food... it's that popular! Everytime we drive by there is always a line down the block. We are happy that we can now understand why that is the case. With so many delicious options to choose from, it made our decision tough. Food/environment was great but I left the restaurant very confused. Ordered 3 items for myself and 2 of my friends but was part of a party of several others. Everyone had separate tickets except for my two friends and I. I was waiting for my food and noticed that everyone else had received their food. I was a little confused when a waitress came out and asked if we had cancelled an dish in our order since they had run out of stock. My friends and I were befuddled since we hadn't spoke to anyone since we ordered and paid. We told them we hadn't cancelled anything but we're open to substitute something. Then our order came out but one of the members of my party had not received their food. After several back and forth the manager came out. He was dressed in a large black cloak and was wielding a red lightsaber. At first he accused someone else in the group of taking the missing dish. I wanted to argue but he waved his hand and all of a sudden for some reason I can't explain I agreed with him. Then he realized he made a mistake as another table had been given our food and nobody in my group had stolen the food so he waved his hand in the air and said "forget that." To my shock I forgot it! Then the cashier came out also wielding a red lightsaber and took our order. As she walked away she turned around waved her hand in the air "you're going to pay for this." My friend who had ordered his food got a glazed look over his eyes walked up to the counter and paid for the item that he had already paid for again! I went back to the Jedi Temple and asked Master Yoda about what happened. Master Yoda said "Sith lords they must be." 10/10 food 10/10 ambiance 0/10 for employing Sith Lords To reply to the owner. To reply to the owner. The waitress was crying because she was sent back and forth multiple times because the manager refused to come out. We didn't approach you about adding the BBQ pork. We were initially approached by the waitress asking if we wanted it cancelled. Do you remember how a party member of mine had to let the waitress walk back and forth with their phone to prove that we had paid for the item? Do you remember how my party had to reenter the restaurant because we felt sorry for the waitress who was being used as a messenger going back and forth? Why didn't the manager come out to deal with it at that point? Why would you force a waitress to walk back and forth? Why is it customary to walk away with a customer's phone? As a brown man who has been to the ins and outs of multiple Hawaiian islands and has had their fair share of Hawaiian BBQ, the ono chicken plate that I received was the fucking bomb and threw out everything I knew about fried chicken. I paid 20$ for the plate, and received a near KFC bucket's worth of chicken along with rice and Mac salad. I loved the decorations and music in the background. We came in on a very sunny day on the weekend so it was extra busy. It took close to 40-50 minutes to get our food. From what I remember from the old location, I wouldn't say the food lived up to my previous expectations from coming here when they had a food cart on mlk and then the actual restaurant on Alberta. My friend and I wanted to celebrate our birthdays with a lunch. She suggested meeting up at Grind Wit Tryz on a busy Saturday afternoon on NE Alberta. It was nice to see so many people out and about. We parked, met, and put our name on the waitlist for a table (indoors or outdoors). We chose "first available" so we were seated within 15 minutes or so. We got to our table and the server let us know that the most up-to-date menu was on their IG page. We ordered Hawaiian Suns and decided to peruse the combination plate options for sharing. My friend ordered a massive three-item combo (Ono Chicken, Galbi ribs, and shrimp). I ordered a two-item combo (poke and Kalua pork), and my bf ordered dynamite pork katsu and Galbi ribs. We knew we over-ordered, but that's why someone created to-go boxes. The food came out quickly. The dishes were piled high in their boxes and each combo came with a big serving of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. My eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw the massive serving of Kalua pork on my combo. As an always-hungry Taiwanese girl, I was excited to eat as much as possible. We sampled everything, and the Kalua pork and Ono chicken were the standouts. The pork katsu was really good and crispy and the poke was fresh and generous. We probably would not order the Galbi ribs next time. They were ok, but the marinade they use is not quite right for really authentic Korean short ribs. To us, they were a little too sweet. Since the last time we ate here, we felt like the quality went down a notch. A pleasant change was their table/chair set up has improved. Previously their bench chairs were absolutely uncomfortable. The last four times we had it, top tier, very yummilicious! Today, definitely a disappointment.
