I am not sure how I feel about this place especially since it took me 1.5 business day to finish the poke I ordered which the majority ended up in the trash. It was missing something, on top of being so overpriced. I've been here more than once to give them a fair review. The second occasion was to get a spam musubi, the rice was mushy and besides the spam- it was bland. I also tried following the google hours (which is the same hours posted on their door) just to get there and they said they were closed. Heard so many good things and I had to see what was up. Followed the instagram, and finally made some time to look for parking and check out the poke. There were many good options, a little pricey for frozen fish. I met the owner. Reminded me of an uncle back home. While the poke wasn't bad, it was clearly made to appeal to the Oregonians. I grew up with simple poke, just enough sauce for flavor and just enough seasoning for taste. I got a poke plate and I normally just put enough sauce to coat my food, I ended up receiving a heavily sauced container of fish. I got a few musubis and Hawaii snacks. For a poke plate, 2 musubis, and Hawaiian sun almost $35, I almost joked out loud and said wow must have Gold in my bag. Was craving some fresh seafood and came across this on UberEats. Was hesitant since a lot of the reviews on there is misleading so decided to check it out on Yelp. Not a lot of reviews but the food is incredible. Everything felt so fresh, not overly salty. They said they're generous with their portion, but I can disagree there, hence the 4 star. Best Poke in Portland, hands down. The fish is so so good and you can try samples. Seriously, OG Poke is just better than every other place around. The biggest size for $24 feeds two hungry humans (with a couple musubis). There's a mini heater full of spam musubi. The krab broccoli salad is so money. The kimchee cucumber is a textural blessing. Was searching for Hawaiian spots in Portland, and though there were a few popular ones recommended, we happened to stumble upon this hidden gem -- and I mean literally hidden. Let me tell you, parking was surprisingly easy! They've got a small lot right next to the restaurant. It's tucked away on a one-way street (like most of Portland), so it's easy to miss -- but don't make that mistake... turn that ass around! Service was super friendly and straight to the point. The musubi was sitting warm in a heating tray -- fire. Only thing missing was a little sprinkle of furikake. Music was pleasant, the vibe was chill, and it was perfect -- nice and cool inside, not stuffy at all despite it being a small space. & the star of the show -- the fish. Super fresh, thick cuts, and generously portioned. The marinades were flavorful and distinct -- we got ginger, shoyu, and spicy aioli. Each one was seasoned beautifully and balanced. None were overpowering or repetitive; every flavor had its own identity but still blended well together in a single bite. The tako (octopus) was tender and immaculate. The mac salad was okay -- texture was good, but mid at best. And that Mochi Butter Cake? So good. If you're Filipino, it'll remind you of cassava cake but with a soft, chewy sapin-sapin texture. Best poke I've had in Oregon. We had the daily special which was oyster sauce with dried shrimp, and the chili pepper Hawaiian. Both were WINNAZ. The employees were super sweet helpful. Space was cozy and clean. Makes this local girl wish she were at home! read more

The inside has Hawaiian music playing and is clean, fresh, and even has a few tables to sit and eat. They also have a cooler with Hawaiian sun drinks and some Hawaiian snacks to purchase. The people are super nice and helpful if you have questions about what the ingredients are in each dish. I got the spicy aioli and the teri ginger with double rice and a side. The fish is FRESH as it can be, great texture on the ahi and really nicely flavored marinades. They have musubi as well which I didn't get to try but I know it's good because they wrap the entire musubi with seaweed which is how it should be done! Discovered OG Poke on our 1st day in Portland and met Kevin, the OG himself. He shared his story with us and we knew right away the poke was made with love. We went with 1/2 lb of the daily special (looks like shoyu limu) and he added extra limu to our bowl, 1/2 lb of the avo poke, 1/2 lb of kim chee cabbage, spam musubi, side rice and side wonton chips. We dined in for the full experience and omigosh!!! The poke was SO GOOD ... hand cut ahi not too big and not square, with flavors that hit up all our taste buds. It had the best mouthfeel! Sprinkled chili water all over the rice and on the musubi... it was over. Love that chili water. Then, we tried the kim chee cabbage and it was next level kohala. Like you know how good kohala is and try to imagine it better. Kevin said they make everything fresh daily and we gave him high praise. We tried to convince him to open up a shop in SoCal because good poke is so hard to find there. We dined here one more time before heading back to SoCal and this time we jet Jastin (with an A) and Alexa. Super friendly. Jastin has big passion for local foods and we playfully suggested he try making lomi lomi ahi. We ordered the same exact as last time minus the musubi. I feel like the hubby and I have been back every week since we've been here. And it's seriously "home" vibes in here. The staff is always cheerful and have that lowkey vibe- nothing is wrong type of attitude. We've tried more of the flavors and hits the spot all the time! Wow I'm so impressed! The owners are so friendly, encouraged us to try anything we'd like before we commit (they do have a lot of different pokes!) everything is made in house and fresh. Fantastic poke! I would be here every week if I went to PSU or worked in the area. The menu is simple - you can get a small, medium or large poke bowl. You can see all of the pokes in the deli style case at the counter and the friendly staff offered samples as well. I have to deduct a Star from this place, because I feel that they give you too much rice (two big scoops) and will not let you swap one of the scoops of rice for a different side. I also feel that the cuts of Poke are too large for my liking. Since after being at OG Poke, I discovered a new restaurant serving Poke called: "Husubis' Poke Shop" in Vancouver, Washington. The Poke taste even better and fresher than OG Poke! (No, I am not affiliated with this new restaurant) I am only giving my honest opinion. Husubis' Poke Shop on Main Street serves some of the best Poke I have ever had outside of Hawaii! Their flavors are very tasty! The cuts of Poke are smaller than OG Poke, which makes it tastier to the palate. It does not have that strange "off taste" that I felt OG Poke left in my mouth and stomach. This new spot in downtown Portland has been open 7 weeks! Service is friendly and there are a couple seats to sit at- they were pretty much full and said it's been like this since they opened! One of the first things we noticed when we walked in was the beautiful huge chunk of tuna that was being cubed up! My husband immediately started drooling when we were looking at all the flavors. It was hard to choose but they allow samples of their tasty poke- we ended up getting a large ($24, it was quite large!) poke bowl with spicy avocado furikake, daily special (taegu), and chili pepper, with a 1/4 lb of limu on the side. It was Ash Wednesday and I was on the hunt to eat some poke as a hungry student who had an extra 2 hours to spare. I saw this spot across the street remembering that they were opening soon and realizing that they just opened so I had to give it a try. Staff were very friendly when I entered. I was somewhat confused by how to order, but they helped me out and got me what I wanted instantly. PSU students get 10% if you have your ID and they also gave me a stamp card too! I had a small bowl, one scoop of spicy salmon, rice and seaweed salad. It's very good and I enjoyed every bite. I will say though to get more rice since there is more seaweed and salmon compared to the rice. But overall I'd love to come again! read more
