This Location is awesome. Food is great, staff is friendly and fast. Would highly recommend. There is something for everyone on menu.

My family and I have been coming to Grinders for decades but the location we frequent the most is this one in North Canton. Located in a strip plaza, there is plenty of parking and a small outdoor patio to enjoy when the weather is nice. Although smaller than some of their other locations, we are always pleased with the service and quality of food at this particular location. Grinders added a small bar awhile back and you can grab a drink and a bar stool if you are waiting on a table or a to go order. Their menu is the same at all restaurants but their daily selection of soup and homemade desserts changes. You can find what soups each location has for the day located on their website. Something unique to Grinders are their homemade salad dressings, soups, and in-house pie selection. We have never had a bad meal at any location and the food is always good. I highly recommend the wedding soup and corn chowder, the tollhouse brownie sundae, and the old world pizza with a side of homemade sauce. But seriously, you can't go wrong here. They have a huge selection of unique salads (our family loves the key west salad) and sandwiches, as well as entrees and sides. There is something for everyone on this menu. read more

I stopped here at 7pm on a Tuesday evening and I was seated right away. My server came right over and took my drink order (Dr. Pepper). When it was delivered and I took a sip, I had to ask for a replacement because I was served diet coke. She apologized and brought me a fresh Dr. Pepper right away. After a short time, she came back and took my order for the Sky-High Pot Roast with mashed potatoes. This is a good-sized place with a modern look to it. It has a bar along with tables and booths. After about 10 mins she delivered my meal. It was a good-looking open-faced sandwich with mashed potatoes directly on top of the pot roast. The gravy was dark and rich and covered everything. The mashed potatoes were handmade with some lumps and pieces of skin, but not too much. They were really tasty. The meat was extremely tender and flavorful. This was a really good choice for me, it hit the mark on every aspect of this meal. Overall, I would definitely come back the next time I'm in town. Have been coming here for over 30 years. I've moved away but make it a point to visit a few times when I'm back in town. They do so many things well but I'm a big fan of their chili, potato skins and steak grinders. They changed their onion rings though and they new ones are disappointing. After going to college in the Canton area, a stop at Grinder's takes me back. The menu is pretty extensive with plenty of options for pickier visitors. I usually stick to the grinders, the namesake, which are sub like sandwiches. The soups are also pretty good. The chili hits the spot on a fall or winter day. If you happen to visit in the summer, they do have a nice patio with a built in outdoor fireplace. read more

This was the first stop in ohio this past trip. We made it twice. My fiance has his sandwich and orders the same every time. He says why mess with perfection. Steak bacon and cheese for him. His mom loves their mushroom and rice soup and their salads. My daughter enjoyed her pizza and smiley face french fries too. This is a nice quality decent sandwich. The meats are think but enough piled on it. It truly is original and not like an ordinary sub. Now I adore the lovely deserts in the front counter and their staff really is super nice. However I have yet to make it past the meal itself. We usually go for lunch but any time of day works. They also have flavored teas on occasion which was simply delightful as I may have an obsession with peach flavor:) read more

We came here because all the restaurants at The Strip had hour long waits and we were extremely frustrated. It's like every restaurant imaginable all in one location and everyone and their brother comes out and swarms them every weekend. My friend had told me that her family loves Grinders, and in a moment of frustration while sitting in the LongHorn parking lot, my husband called Grinder's and they had no wait. We put our name on the list just to be safe, and drive the ten minutes to their North Canton location. I've got two kids, and when we go out to eat, we have to order croutons and cheese for them to eat while we wait for the food to arrive. At Grinder's, they seat you, get your drinks and come out with kid appetizers of grapes and oranges. It's BRILLIANT!! If you arrive before 6pm you can get their 1/2 price appetizers, and we've had the cheese sticks (you only get 4... and it's $4 so not really worth the price), the potato skins (sooooo good), and the spinach artichoke dip (definitely a small portion but yummy). I've had their cheeseburger salad and it's freaking phenomenal. My favorite salad from anywhere. I've also had the honey bbq chicken with corn and hash brown casserole and it too was really delicious. My oldest son loves the buttered noodles and corn, and my youngest loves the chicken tenders and smile fries. My husband said the mac and cheese is so good he wants to order it as an entree next time we go here! The bottom line, why wait an hour for a restaurant at The Strip when you can come here and get seated immediately? read more

We picked up carry out tonight. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs and it had one meatball. It also seemed more like the spaghetti bake. My spouse ordered Monterey chicken and liked the chicken but did not care for the mashed potatoes. We ordered two apps as well, spin dip and spudnicks both of which were good. Unfortunately we were missing a side salad. Furthermore, I had to wait 5-10 minutes for the food when I picked it up. Food was mediocre and we paid $36 for all of the above, not horrible aside for the fact that we didn't get the salad. Staff was very friendly. I enjoyed the Grinder's in Alliance and thought I'd try the Louisville location. The waitress was sweet but didn't know wine selection and lacked knowledge of their cocktails. The wait time for our dinner was good - within 15 minutes. Our meal - unfortunately ugh. Beer batter fish one was acceptable the other was old, green breens overcooked. Out of steak - no not kidding. So my companion ordered chicken - suspect it was frozen when cooked. Hope the waitress was new since she had to check if there was internet. Please Grinder's, fix this location. read more

Seriously delicious food. Grinder's has been around since I was a child, and it has been a solid place to eat for years. This was my first time at this particular location, and it didn't disappoint whatsoever. Consistent with the yummy flavors of the other Grinders. I always get the oven roasted-turkey Grinder. (I think it's called something else now, but they still know exactly what I am getting.) Also good: Pedro's pick sandwich, the spudkins, the pot roast sandwich, and the creamy and delicious peanut butter pie. (I didn't get that today and I wish I had......I may have to come back again tomorrow or something.) My friend from childhood and I happened to be in Charleston at the same time last week (the food MECCA) and we both were talking about how our favorite Stark County staple is by FAR Grinders. First experience was a 5/5 I got the pork chops, mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese all were amazing. Second experience 2/5 bbq chicken(very dry) house salad was great, and the hash brown bake was horrible in my opinion. Third experience 3/5 went back for the pork chops but the waitress didn't ask about a sauce on them and I forgot until they arrived, no gravey for the potatoes and I didn't see the waitress again for 30 minutes. My family lives nearby and this USED to be where we all met up for dinner whenever I was in town. That is until one night when they decided not to honor my out of state DC license when I ordered a beer. Keep in mind I'd had plenty of beers here in the past, no problem. At 28 years old I'm sitting with my parents, aunt and uncle and suddenly this Grinder's would not serve me because I had a DC drivers license! They claimed they no longer honored out of state drivers licenses. Huh??? We had the staff call the manager who confirmed that DC wasn't a state (thank you for the news bulletin sir) and they therefore didn't have to serve me. I was completely sober and at a table full of mostly 60 somethings so this made absolutely no sense to any of us. Even our table neighbors were all what??? They then made me show several other forms of ID only to decide that no, they still didn't honor DC drivers licenses. It was the strangest thing ever. My entire family promptly left before ordering even a crumb of food and haven't been back since. Be forewarned if you don't have an OH license and want to have a drink here! Please go somewhere else! This place was an excellent recommendation. I had the Key West salad and added fiesta chicken which was absolutely delicious. The ratings I saw for Grinder's were pretty high. I needed a good burger. This was the cure for the need. I ordered the Texas burger with avocado and onion rings. The presentation was very good when it arrived and it was huge! The burger was cooked perfectly and it was served with some awesome thick tempura battered onion rings. I was surprised that I actually finished both the burger and the onion rings. When Lea, who was my server and an awesome one at that, asked me if I was ready for dessert, I said, "Are you kidding me after that much food? Of course what do you have?" I had always been a fan of Grinder's but was very disappointed in my experience there today for lunch. The Jumbo Popcorn Chicken Salad came with only 4 pieces of chicken, each the size of a quarter. Since we don't have a Grinders Above & Beyond in Northern California, we needed to try this place out! We are so glad we did! The menu is ginormous and not overpriced! The waiter had to come back to the table three times before we could decide what to order. Seriously, this place has something for everyone! They even have a dessert tray they bring to the table! Our food was delicious! The house made chips were the best we'd ever had; super crunchy and perfectly seasoned, not over salted! They even bring out an extra glass of ice for the freshly brewed ice tea! The hamburgers were juicy and perfectly cooked, the grinders were filling, and the salads were overloaded with goodies! Unfortunately, there was no room left for dessert The waiter and staff were super attentive. They kept coming by our table to see how everything was, refilled our drinks and to ask if we needed anything else. I know we will definitely be back here again when we come to Canton! Big fan of this spot! Grinders has been served reliably good food, at a reasonable price for years. There is a lot of variety on the menu, flagshipped by their grinders, or sub sandwiches, which are delicious hot or cold. Add some soup or a side salad to complete your meal. The menu also has some great appetizers including Southwestern egg rolls which are a favorite of mine. They even serve beer, have milkshakes and fresh pie, elaborating on the choices. This place was better than expected. I used to go here quite a bit when I was younger and I never really liked it that much, but I was a very picky eater then too. The menu is huge. Their specialty, of course, is the grinder, but they also have a big selection of many different entrees. I chose to go with the Southwest Style grinder with fries. The spiciness was delicious. It was turkey with jalapeno bacon, chipotle mayo, cheddar cheese, lettuce, & onion. The fries were decent. Service was good, not outstanding. The pie here is not very good. It's pre sliced so it's always dried out and not fresh. The Italian wedding soup is a highlight. Still a go to for my family. We love the salads - and you get them in sizes to fit different appetites. The steak salad is consistently good. The Asian is above average and the Cobb is a generous portion of everything. My wife loves their sweet Italian house dressing. Think Itailan with just a touch of sweet and sour. My kids are older and love the grinders. They switch it up a lot. Fries are good. If you would like something light and smaller the Mahi and rice is till consistently good. My wife has changed her go to to the Fish and chips - but she subs in Mac and cheese for a buck. Only negative I would say the place is set up for groups of 4 with only a couple of options for groups of 5-6 (we have 5). So more than 4 can be a longer wait on a weekend. read more

I've been eating at this location since it opened and dined at most all of their locations through out the area, both in a personal and professional capacity, dining in and carry out. I know the food and how it was and, sadly, it's not even close. The North Canton location's food and attention to detail has gone down immensely. Over the last several months, the last 5 times we have ordered from here, either carry out or dining in, something has been wrong. Examples: receiving the complete wrong order; given the wrong sandwich; ordering minus toppings, such as tomato, and opening the sandwich only to see the tomato slime still there; or adding ingredients, like banana peppers, and only getting one or two added on. Also, the portion size of the spudniks and sandwiches has gone down. What is even more worrisome is that complaining, whether at the local or corporate level, is less than satisfactory. The lack of trying to fix issues is as bad as the slide in quality. No, I don't want to drive 15 mins round trip to pick up the correction for the carry out order you messed up. I waited several days after my last unpleasant experience to post this review. The reason is that I made a complaint on the corporate website and still have not heard anything from Grinders. I'm not angry about these last several experiences, I'm saddened. I try to support local companies as much as possible. Unfortunately, Grinders has fallen too short, too many times, too consistently, and in too many areas to return back anytime soon. read more

Have had mixed experiences with this restaurant, one day I got the Rueben and it was great the next day I got the Texas burger and it was about as good a wet cardboard. The burger was unseasoned, the bacon had no taste ( is that possible) and the onion ring really didn't help the burger. Very little dressing/ mayo on the burger didn't help anything. As always the service was great, the wait staff was on point. However if you can cobble a burger soo sideways that even has bacon on it... it causes one to lose faith. Terrible. We used to love this location, but had an awful experience last week. We had 11 people amd were sat at a broken table. The drinks slid off the whole time and the manager didn't care. Service was slow and rude. We received drinks 20 minutes after appetizers. The server spilled salad dressing all over and never replaced it.
