I lived in HB my entire life and didn't realize that we had this awesome establishment hidden in Old World Village! The first time I visited Grinderz I stopped in for a beer and quick snack. I ordered the Pigsty fries and they were so ONO! I decided to bring back my boys for a meal and they thoroughly enjoyed their double cheeseburgers and fries. Recently, breakfast burritos have been added to the menu on weekends... of course we had to try those too and they were amazing! The salsas that accompany the burritos add another depth of flavor. Grinderz has a chill skateboarder vibe and decor. They keep the restaurant super clean and provide you with excellent customer service. The staff here is great - very warm and welcoming. We came on a good time during happy hour which means $5 beers, sheesh!. This place is hidden in the Old Village, right next to the Vans' skate park. Haven't been there for a while now until yesterday and the food quality is still good and consistent. The lady working there was chill and friendly. I ordered the Hawaiian Burger and my homie ordered a Cheese Burger, both a 5/5. The meat patty was juicy and thick. The pineapple bits in underneath the patty had a nice sweet/tangy kick. However, instead of the bits, just add a whole slice of pineapple to the burger. It will look more appealing and delicious. After we were done, we down it with a Heineken and IPAs. Their burger patties are pretty assertively seasoned and you get a peppery crust on the meat. I went with their Cali-burger, which comes with grilled onions, avocado, tomato, lettuce, chipotle mayo, and bacon. My wife went with a standard cheeseburger but upgraded her fries to onion rings. Both the fries and onion rings are delightful as they're beer-battered and nicely seasoned, so they have a nice, salty crunch to them that's instantly craveable. Ambiance is skater themed and it's a small spot with limited seating. It's not really a place to hang out for hours, but it's pretty fun to walk around through this weird, Euro-themed mall after finishing your meal. It's battered and seasoned well, and goes well with the ranch dipping or classic ketchup. I think the burgers are pretty good, but this can be subjective since sometimes I find the seasoning on the meat patty too salty for my preference. The place is clean, welcoming, and there are seatings both indoors and outdoors. This is an: order first, find a seat, and the staff will bring out the food. And if you run into Bernice, one of the staff members at this place, she's always so warm, friendly, gives great recommendations, and is very patient. My husband and I asked to use the restroom and they have a coin system so we asked for a coin to use the bathroom..., she gave us one coin. So we went outside to the private one stall bathroom and my husband and I entered together and used the bathroom privately, both inside but one at a time obviously and maybe in there 5 minutes or less total.... And someone came BANGING on the door, my husband asked hello ? And no response. We exited about 30 seconds later and still, no one was around. My husband was irritated and slammed the bathroom shut and then the counter lady came out same time and asked if he was ok? he said yeah who's pounding on a closed and locked door? lol. She said she didn't know. However a random patron in the area asked us when walking to the car if we knew were the security was and we figured it must've been him leaving his post from across the lot, to come bang on one of the bathrooms doors, because of grinderz staff complained that THEY gave us ONE bathroom token and we used it together. Hahaha such a joke!!! Girl, get real we are not doing anything scandalous in your nasty dirty bathroom. Clean your stalls- that was smelly and nasty. And also put a sign on the door ONE PERSON AT A TIME. Or give us or ask us if we need more than one token for your dirty little bathroom. After we ate, paid with card, etc. WHY would we be doing anything weird in there .... Get real. So annoying. Plus the security guard we called him out on our way out of the parking lot was rude and had no apology. You want to bang on a door someone is obviously inside and say nothing? Weirdo. I wanted to try a new burger place and this spot happens to be next to my favorite place, Bunz! I got the Spicy Grind Burger with a Regular Oreo Shake. Usually I'm a spice girl, but I had to take out some of the banana peppers that had a lot of seeds on it. Definitely filling and was only able to finish 75% of the burger! The chipotle-mayo sauce in the burger tied it all together. The best part was dipping with a side of ranch. I took some of my boyfriend's avocado in his Cali Style Burger for mine and I might have to add that next time. The shake was more than enough to share. Hawaiian Burger with fries combo and Neo shake The burger had a very flavorful sauce that wasn't too runny or messy. Bonus points for the bun not getting soggy and actually holding the burger together! The patty could've been seasoned just a touch more, but overall it was a very enjoyable burger. The fries were also the BEST type of fries with the craggly awesome texture. Neapolitan shake was super flavorful with the strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. The burgers here are huge! I got the double cheeseburger and I could've got a regular cheeseburger. The burger patties are thick and juicy, bun is soft and the lettuce and tomato is fresh. It's especially saddening because it was our first time back in about 9ish months and this used to be our favorite burger spot. We are always raving about the food quality to friends and family whenever the chance is given. Unfortunately, today's patties were dry, compressed, and honestly resembled Big Mac patties from McDonald's (photos attached). I love McDonald's, but not at three times the price.
