I was craving a burger and fries last night, but was good and decided to not have it so late. This morning, I still had the craving and decided to Yelp local burger spots. I have never been to Pete's/Bodega before. It's interesting that they have 2 businesses in one. The vibe was cozy and warm as soon as I walked in. I can tell that many locals frequent this establishment based on the conversation. Jodi seemed semi-annoyed to do anything, such as taking my order or refilling my drink. Have come to uncle Pete's cafe before but had read reviews on Bodega and had been wanting to try it. Finally got to try a Bodega smash a couple days ago and it was good! Hubby and I got a smash burger and shared an order of chili cheese fries that were piping hot and crispy. Restaurant was quite empty. Waitress was friendly and prompt. It's okay. I do appreciate the buns they use with their burger though. The burgers aren't quite smash enough... smash burgers need to have the edges crispy, that's kinda the whole point of smashing them. These are at best thin patty burgers. I would recommend these folks watch Kenji's burger tips video on NYT cooking to see a proper smash burger. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but there definitely is a lot of room they can improve on. Came with a party of 3 and ordered a variety of items. The guava salad was amazing. Everything else was either overcooked or unfortunately not what we ordered. For mains we got Kobe Steak + Porterhouse + 3 Lobster Tails. The steaks were supposed to be medium, but came over cooked, both well done. Shame how the Kobe beef came well done at $110 per 6oz! (Teardrop). They also spaced out all the sides and each entree came out 15m apart, so didn't have a chance to eat everything together, or it cooled off. Timing of dishes can improve. Also we asked which desert she recommended, and she said cheesecake so we ordered that, but bread pudding came out. She seemed busy so we didn't say anything and just ate the desert. Overall the total for us 3 was around $620 with tip. They did credit us $28 for drinks so there's that. Bodega Smash Burger is inside a place called Uncle Pete's Diner. We were a little confused at first but the address matched and we went inside to ask. Staff was friendly and informed us we were in the right place. Service was good and quick. Burgers were solid and crinkle fries were really good. Onion rings were pretty good and my son had an Oreo shake that was tasty too. I would give 5 stars but it was on the pricey side for a couple burgers and sides & one shake. Safe! Okay, let me explain.... I was craving a smashed burger, not to be confused with SmashBurger. Lots of burger joints offer smash burgers. The traditional burger with a smashed thin patty cooked up. When I saw Bodega Burger I called to ask about their smashed burgers and it was explained to me that it was part of a hidden menu. I couldn't wait to try this, so I packed up the family and headed to Uncle Pete's Cage. Upon entering I noticed the place had a decent headcount. Lots of folks enjoying the food. Quaint atmosphere and a solid mix of Johnny Cash and Elvis playing. I approached the counter and asked for the Bodega Burger menu. I received a completely separate menu from the otherwise known Uncle Pete's Cafe menu, so cool!!! As you would expect, I ordered the smash burger, I received a double cheese burger, good, but not smashed. The chili fries were good too. Service was above average as our drinks were kept full, napkins, regular check-ins, all spot on. One thing made me uncomfortable was the off duty server that stood inches away from the prepared food to talk with working servers. Her hair was flying about and she was breathing on orders ready to be served. It was a decent experience even though none of us received the smashed burgers we ordered, ingredients were missed, and the silverware places setting we requested never showed up. read more

Bodega did not disappoint, my fiancé and I had this place bookmarked for awhile and finally decided to pull the trigger and order it for dinner. Glad I read previous reviews in order to know exactly where it was located. I guess this spot is part of Pete's Cafe - a cute little diner we plan to visit next time. We ordered two double smash burgers, a side of chili fries and zucchini fries. The portion size was definitely worth the price. If we would have known how large these burgers would be, I think a single smash burger would have sufficed. Chili cheese fries were definitely one of the top I've ever had. What makes them awesome is the crispy crinkly cut fries. Zuchinni fries were also just as good and the perfect size with just enough batter. The only thing I might have ordered different next time is maybe requesting pickles on the side of the smash burger. I'm a pickle lover myself but it was a little too much for the burger. Overall, we really enjoyed dinner tonight. This was by far one of the best places we've had for smash burgers. Had trouble finding the place. The map is wrong on Yelp. I called to ask directions and they're located inside Uncle Pete's cafe. My daughter got a single and I got a double smash burger with bacon. We also got fries. One with chili and cheese and the other with just cheese. Everything was great and tasty. Just come with an appetite. Portions are good size. Last but definitely not least was the fruity pebbles shake. I'll order 2 next time since my daughter didn't want to really share. read more

This place has really tasty smash burgers. One of the few spots in this area. Their fries are pretty solid as well. It's located inside an actual restaurant, so I kinda got confused with what to do. I think they are doing this to expand their business and the utilization of their kitchen. The people are nice and accommodating too. Maybe if they added a separate front for their burger business, it would help with the overall mood of the store. This place IS Uncle Pete's Cafe. So, if you're going to drive there, look for that; there are absolutely no signs for Bodega Smash. I had the Smash burger, the onion rings, and the chili cheese fries. The burger had a great meat taste. However, the onion rings were barely Battered and they weren't crispy. The chili fries had No cheese. I wish I had take a picture of the fries, but I forgot. Also, they had a different taste, not the average chili. I didn't love it. Food is great, but service is lacking. We had ordered ahead of time (15m drive to the business.) When I arrived, staff said they haven't started the online order and apologized (I get it, these things happen.) I came back 10 minutes later to find several burger to go boxes ready. This place is a hidden gem...literally! If you want a delicious smash burger, amazing chili fries and lots of other delicious creations, this is the place to try. It is located INSIDE of Uncle Pete's Cafe. So don't be fooled when you pull up and don't see a Bodega Burger sign. This restaurant is a great local eatery with an excellent cafe menu as is. I ordered the double smash burger here and I would not recommend it. The burger was a 5/10 not the worse burger in the world but it's most definitely not a smash burger. Just a regular burger.
