3 stars because they have great food (when they get it right) and delicious pastries. For me though, to go here means to take the good with the not so good. Not sure why but I can't seem to receive a Chorizo-saur burrito without onions to save my life. No one ever seems to read that part of my order. Today was no exception. I called in my order. 20+ minutes later, I was still waiting only to find that my food was done yet just put to the side. Accidents happen, I get it. But there is always something quite not right about Grindhouse despite their good products. Their customer service is just ok. You may get a "hello" or "good morning" or you may not. You may walk up to the counter with no one there yet still receive a greeting from the owner making drinks off to the side....or you may not. Or, someone will be at the counter busy with something else and they will still give you a quick acknowledgement while you wait...or you may not. I come from the time when you were taught by management to greet every single customer with a smile, even if it's just to say " someone will be right with you." They have good stuff. But after my occasional visits I always ask myself why I go back when my order is usually wrong and customer service is not so inviting. read more

Super cute little coffee shop. We love supporting local businesses and when we visit our parents in Griffith we always stop by. I'm not a scone kinda guy but we got them today and they are amazing. My best friend and I went in there today. I had repeatedly seen that people from Griffith had been talking about it so we decided to check it out. The place is set up very nicely, there aren't to many tables and there is room for people to socialize without being so close to one another. We had great and quick service, and everyone was very nice. It was super clean inside, and the thing that really made me want to give a 5 star rating was that the highchairs were super clean. Pretty cool little place - yes it's more of a coffee shop but I came here for the chicken sammich. Service was fast,the sandwich was pretty good. Thin slices of chicken with chipotle mayo and greens on toasted bread with a bag of chips for like $8 with a coke . Next time I come back I'll try something different and update my review. read more

This place has the best Mikey Serrano's, five stars. Its a shining example of quality over quantity here. I asked for more, and of course, they said that that was impossible. I tried going to the sip 2 in highland and there wasn't a single Mikey Serrano as far as the eye could see. I will not be visiting sip 2 ever again. One of my favorite places to have a coffee and a pastry in Griffith. Plenty of vegan options with the coffee, food, and pastries. Different options are clearly marked! I have eaten numerous times at Grindhouse. The food really is unbelievable. I still have not had anything bad after 4 different sandwiches. The red cabbage coleslaw is different and compliments the sandwiches. My favorite thus far is the Blue Cheese Beef Bomb. The baked goods are great, the everything cookie is my favorite. Also, no up charge for soy in coffee. My only gripe, no breakfast food; plain bagel, plain cream cheese. I understand they a catering to what they are selling, so no big deal. read more

Great coffee, espresso drinks and sandwiches in a unique atmosphere makes for a great coffee shop. It's spacious and you almost feel like you're in a college town coffee shop when you walk in because it has a messy-but-fun eclectic feel from the colored chalkboard menu that's always changing to the bright colors everywhere. Grindhouse is our go-to place for coffee and lunch. The coffee is delish. Food is outstanding. Service is great. My kids love going there. I highly recommend trying the sugar free caramel latte. Not the best I have had but definitely not the worst by far. The coffee was decent. Didn't see if the had refills or not. It's an ok place to go to. Excellent coffee, outstanding pastries and delicious sandwiches! Coffee and tea specials change often and are always interesting and well-made. The featured flavors of each drink are always balanced. The most pleasing aspect is the limited sweetness of each drink. Many of the flavored syrups are made in-house and avoid tasting overly sugary. The pastries are homemade and out of this world! I have not been disappointed once. Be on the look-out for the Mexican hot chocolate cookies and the banana everything cookies. Seriously. An added bonus is the cafe's proximity to the Erie-Lackawanna bike trail. I often stop at grindhouse for lunch during a long bike ride. read more

I was excited to see we had such an awesome coffeehouse in our new town! The staff is friendly, and never make me feel like I'm not cool enough to walk in there in my mom uniform of yoga pants and a messy bun, even though I'm probably not. Maybe 10 years ago... They also make me feel very sophisticated when I can order something like lavender syrup. Thanks for that! You may find the prices just slightly above those national chain stores, but these guys don't have the luxury of bulk ordering for thousands of stores at a time. My 2 complaints would be: 1. I wish there was a drive thru so I could visit more often (as stated above, I'm a mom, and I try not to get the kids out of the car once we leave the house any more than absolutely necessary to save my own sanity. Delivery would also be a viable option), and 2. I wish all those fancy special drinks came in giant sizes (again, mom/kids/sanity, so more coffee/tea always = better). read more

Gave this place a try after reading the reviews. We tried the Turkey (I think) sandwich and it was very tasty. For $7 a sandwich (and chips) like that is so much better than the $5 footlong you get somewhere else. Spend the extra coupe of bucks, support a local business and get a better sandwich. I haven't tried their coffee and drinks, but I'm pretty sure I'll have to give those a go too. read more
