Great place for breakfast or lunch. I enjoy their drink specials. The Playoff Beard - Maple Carmel Latte Iced was great with great coffee flavor not overwhelmed by the Maple and Carmel. The Turkey Dolo has a generous amount of turkey and is served with your choice of pretzel roll or croissant bun. Your order is placed at the counter and if you dine in the order is brought to your table as it is prepared. The drinks and food are good, but the wait times are atrocious! Waited a whole hour for 2 breakfast burritos, waited half of that for our drinks. Furthermore, multiple people who ordered AFTER us received their food before us, giving the impression they forgot about our order. The environment was loud and chaotic thanks to the screaming children next to us, which isn't the employees fault, but still, expect a noisy environment. Overall, good food and drinks, but service could be improved. read more

Knew I was going to get hung up in rush hour traffic, so I decided to make a short detour and enjoy my ride home. Great choice, the barista knew what I wanted to order before I could figure out what it was called, Golden Milk and Chai. Just blocks from the Whiting beach and lakefront park, this local coffee shop also has summer drinks and cafe sandwiches. No seating indoors due to Covid and no outdoor patio right now, so it's to-go only. The turkey sandwich was full and flavorful, good bread, plenty of meat. The to-go lunchbox was custom stamped and a nice touch. I asked for water for my bike water bottle, and they wouldn't touch the bottle, which is a little bit understandable during covid (but gloves?-- and they're touching all my food and packaging? but I sorta get it). But I really didn't want them to waste a plastic cup, which was impossible for me to carry with me on my bike. Even during COVID the environment is a Thing. She could have pointed me to the tap and had me fill it myself, but I relented to them pouring a new cup full of water and handing it to me... but then she even added a lid, which was disappointing, since I literally had to just take off the lid, pour it in my bottle, and just wasted in the trash both a cup and lid. Hoping they recycle at least. read more

A simple coffee spot in which to work remotely with wonderful natural light (even on cloudy days), super kind staff, and great new wave-inspired music playing at a level that still allows for focus. The homemade cookies are so good! Have only tried the iced lattes so far (as far as drinks )and they're so good too. Love Grindhouse!!! Great local coffee and fresh drink options, most of their syrups for drinks seem to be made in house as well. The food is amazing. I recommend the "Breffist Croque", I may have a slight obsession with how good it is. So happy to have this so close to the lake and downtown Whiting. They have taken Covid precautions seriously as well which is great to see. read more

I like to go places at least a handful of times before I leave a review just in case I catch someone on a bad day. With that being said, I have been to this Grindhouse location half a dozen times and every time it is delicious and a great experience!! The Turkey dolo is my favorite sandwich. Everything is always fresh tasting and delicious, even when I order to go and bring it home. Every experience with the staff has been pleasant and everyone seems to enjoy their job and want to provide great service. Always smiling and friendly.
