The birria tacos were just ok. They were hot enough but the rich flavor for birria was lacking (the salt was too heavy) Also didn't get consommé with them (what the heck who serves Birria without consommé??) on our takeout order. The regular tacos were good. The portions were huge way too much we had them for two meals. I personally would rather have fabulous and lesser amounts but it was a decent meal. As a birria snob I would give it 7/10. The heat factor was perfect just enough to know it was there but not set you on fire sweating. read more

We went to gringos after reading the reviews about the Birria tacos- which were incredibly delicious. Can't complain about the tender meat and adequate amount of cheese. My only suggestion is to plate them slightly differently, as taco on the bottom was so soggy it was barely staying together. We also ordered a side of the corn, which was good but a bit one note. The cilantro on top definitely helped add freshness, but there was just a little bit. I would 100% return if I was in the mood for birria, but not sure I would get the corn again. read more

Last night my boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place not really knowing too much of the area but, this hidden gem is awesome. We smelt the food from a block away and had to try it. We ordered to make your own Griller Gringo style with ground beef. It was phenomenal the way they had grilled it, melted the cheese, and to top it off dab a little hot sauce. It was delicious. The service there was great! Christian who had taken my order help with kinds of selections and to make my decisions easier. Have to give a shout out to the guys that made it back in the cooking area, Keenan and AJ (I apologize if I get your names wrong). Overall this place deserves a 5 star. Wanted to try the newest taco place in town, it's not great. Honestly it's either a tourist rip off or they really need to work out the kinks more. In Saint Augustine we have a abundance of tacos to Mexican style restaurants, if your gonna stand out you have be competitive. Sadly Gringos Tacos was not. Food was bland and overpriced, especially when we have many other options around Saint Augustine. Below I go into depth about my visit. For my order I had 2 chicken, 2 steak, 2 Beryllia style, and ordered some chips & queso. That came to be 49 dollars, a bit on the expensive for street style tacos. Also if you want any salsa, sour cream, or even lettuce they charge a whole dollar bill for a 2oz cup. Or you get a squeeze packet of sour cream, not even fresh made. Like don't charge a dollar for that, it's a rip off. Not happy with them charging people like that. Now for the taste, no they kinda flopped at that too. My chicken & steak tacos where street style, cilantro and fresh onions. No lime sadly and the tortillas were cold. Both the chicken and steak where dry, the chicken especially not much flavor. The Beryilla was good, only saving grace of this place. I enjoyed it and the dipping sauce was hot. Chips were blue corn but needed salt, queso was fine. When I walked in yesterday and excited to see how the old Flavors Cafe had become as well. First off seating is extremely limited, only 5 tables. It's a small place but they did not utilize it, the cafe before had 4 booths and a few smaller tables. The decor is okay, the place it self just feels empty. Staff was friendly and where keeping the place spotless. I'm not going back here for a bit, maybe a few months later to give it go again. Otherwise I do not recommend this taco shop, there are much cheaper and better quality places. We are not lacking in taco shops best to look around. read more

The food tasted pretty good, but the prices are high compared to similar taco places or food trucks - and given the very basic ingredients (as compared to Osprey or A1A, for example, who put more in it if you like that kind of thing). It was $22+ without tip for two basic tacos (chicken, onion, cilantro), guacamole, chips, water, and a non-water drink. Service was great- food came out fast. I had the Birria tacos and they were fabulous! Huge portion as well, which was exactly what I needed. Piping hot, VERY tender perfectly spiced steak. Perfect ratio of cheese to meat, plenty of cheese. The grilled tortilla shells would have been delicious by themselves. Also had a side of the queso dip, and it was tasty as well. Small place but GREAT FOOD! The house taco was different but very good. Shredded beef and mozzarella on a tortilla served with beef consommé. Even our non-Mexican eater liked that. Plus the traditional Mexican dishes were excellent too. Great prices - will definitely be back!! read more

Teeny tiny place but great food and friendly service! I placed a to go order for ten people today and not only was the large and confusing order prepared correctly but it was delicious! Most of us got grillers (pictured below) but the mahi tacos and Barria were also enjoyed. The queso is tasty and not too spicy. The garlic butter shrimp tacos were great. They came out hot and fresh covered in melty cheese with a side of zesty sauce and some pico.

Food was phenomenal and Chloe was great salesperson. So happy and helpful. Family loved the margaritas and the steak burritos were awesome.

I was dying to find a new taco place so i dont have to go to ospreys all the time but I am sad to say this place needs a little bit of help. There is hardly any seafood options, every taco seems al a carte. Even things that are standard on most tacos cost extra like cheese and i think even lettuce. This was the worst restaurant we experienced. They served "Mexican Street Corn" it was nothing more than can corn with mozzarella cheese and cilantro. Also, the salsa was can tomatoes.
