Casa Maya was our last meal before heading to the airport, and it was a memorable way to end our Florida trip. Tucked down a charming alley in St. Augustine, the restaurant has a great atmosphere with live music and plenty of outdoor seating. We chose to sit outside since it was still a beautiful morning and not too hot yet. The cocktails were excellent, and of course we had to order one last round of oysters before leaving - they were so worth it. I was a little surprised by the paella because it was much brothier than I'm used to, but it was still delicious. I just wish it came with more bread for dipping or a side of rice to soak up all the flavorful broth. I even snapped a photo of the taco menu because it all sounded amazing. They have a fun drink menu and we tried the Green Bee, Luna Blu and It's in the Bag (it comes in an actual bag!) The drinks were all very good. We had chips and salsa and the tortillas were unique because they were whole tortillas. The food was very good. My friend had the surf and turf tacos and I had the mahi mahi tacos. The French toast included 2 small pieces of bread - some of the batter was still raw. The "flavorful" home fries were not seasoned at all. The octopus was chewy and slimy. On May 16th, I visited your restaurant with my mother. When the payment was processed using her card, she immediately received a notification from her bank indicating that two separate charges had been made for different amounts. I informed the server, but he insisted that everything was correct. My mother has since returned to her home country, and her bank confirmed that the double charge was indeed processed. Since that date, I have called the restaurant manager many times. She answered only once and told us she would send the receipt showing the refund issued to my mother's bank. She later sent a document that does not show any refund, and to this day we have not received the proper documentation. I have continued calling and sending multiple emails, but I have not received any response, any call back, nor the refund. This has been extremely frustrating and reflects very poor customer service. read more

We only enjoyed drinks, but every food dish that passed by looked and smelled amazing. I heard some music and walked in to a fun and beautiful place with lots of outdoor seating. I sat at the bar and a young girl greeted me right away and eventually a guy named Christian came and took over. They were very friendly and she recommended I get the pork carnita. My first bite of the pork took me back to only one other place of when I had something similar. It was so delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it! This place is a blast! We were there on a Saturday night and Black Mango was playing. Great band! Manuel was our server and he was so sweet. Brought us a sample of the house tequila, we got hats, the dance floor was packed, and the food and drinks were amazing. We had the shrimp ceviche and two different types of margaritas, the black widow and the Guavarita. The black widow was yummier in my opinion. We also had crème brulee and Manual torches the sugar at our table. The vibe was friendly. The inside bathroom was cleaner than the outside because the latter is a combined use with urinal and toilet. It was out of soap and didn't seem clean. The inside was cleaner. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside. It feels crowded near the bar but the outside tables were roomy enough. Can't wait to go back! read more

They had some spoiled or rotten crab legs that was part of the dish. After eating one leg I complained thinking it was raw. The waiter brought me some new crab legs and said someone else had just said the same thing. So I tried the new ones. I immediately spit it out. The waiter said they were taking them off the menu as they were bad. They reduced the cost of my meal. Appreciate that but I'm surprised they didn't just comp it. We had a nice lunch at Casa Maya. We sat inside upstairs because of the heat and had the place pretty much to ourselves. The old historic house was cozy and felt authentically St. Augustine. For drinks we got a couple sangrias and beers. Wish the beer menu was a little bigger but they did have a few seasonal rotations. The cocktails were good and not too sweet. We got the tacos and the carne asada. All the food was great and came out relatively quick. Initially I was worried that the tacos wouldn't be enough food but you get three stuffed tacos and beans and rice. Was plenty of food even if it was a little overpriced considering the quality. Our server was attentive even though we were his only table upstairs for most of the meal. The only negatives with the experience were the higher prices than what you might expect given the food and location and the auto gratuity. The gratuity was added and buried in the receipt with the part you sign only showing the final price. Nowhere was it mentioned that gratuity would be included and we almost double tipped because it wasn't apparent it was added. That part kind of turned us off what was otherwise a really nice meal. Even still, we will likely return and look forward to sitting out on the balcony when the weather is a little cooler. read more

On this day, I had the octopus ceviche, and my husband had the chicken quesadillas, and it was all prepared to perfection. We were seated in the upstairs privacy dining. However, downstairs would've been a total vibe next to the bar and music. This location is right in the core in the middle of Saint Augustine, and very easy to find. The drinks are strong and flavorful, and this is definitely a location that we look forward to returning to. Wow, very disappointed! Made a reservation yesterday and they didn't even bother to write it down. they did accommodate for us today which is nice. Otherwise the experience is unfortunate, expect to be your own waiter if you come to this restaurant because they will absolutely ignore you. Or maybe it's just us, a Latino family. Don't know, but I did not expect this at all Latin establishment. It started raining and my family was getting soaked but the waiter didn't care. We had to move our table chairs and drop down the rain cover to avoid getting drenched. The food is a poor representation of Mexican cuisine, the pork has a bitter after taste, the steak fajitas were over cooked and dry along with tasteless, the cochinita pil bil is bland and the side dishes are flavorless, definitely not worth putting up with the poor service. The only thing that was good was the music. If you want good Mexican food, stay away! Also, we had a hard time checking out because our waitress just did not return. Pitiful read more

We arrived at Casa Maya around 5:30 and got seated immediately inside to avoid the heat. The upstairs was nice and spacious with its own bathroom. We ordered the chips, salsa and guac right away and it was so good & fresh! You may have to ask for some extra chips. We got the shrimp and steak tacos, they were loaded with steak!
