Tvp/soya tacos + arbol sauce is an awesome combo, even gets up to a respectable heat level if you really load it up. Can't believe I don't see tvp on more menus, these guys know what's up. Just as good as beyond when properly prepared. Tofu tacos are also amazing with a nice level of sweetness and an ideal balance of tofu to veg. Flour tortillas are perfect - nice and thin but strong enough to hold up to some sauce and folding. I also hear the fish and potato tacos were great successes, so that's nothing but hits. Stopped by last night for a carne asada and pollo asada taco. Both were terrible. Meat was overcooked beyond belief. The steak was actually crunchy it was so overcooked. Wowzas! I haven't had Mexican food this good since moving to New England! We saw this spot while driving to downtown St. Augustine and I'm glad I did that U-ey. I was drawn to the vibe from the street. Looked chill and all the tables were filled. Service was friendly and fast. My hubby got the baja fish burrito and I got a carnitas taco and a potato taco with rice and beans. We also shared the chips, salsa, and queso--made our own nachos. Everything was fabulous. I wish I lived closer because if I did, I would be here at least once a week. We ate on the patio and we met a couple of friendly dog lover patrons-of course we had our pup with us! For a taco stand adjacent to a brewery, you would think there would be more of a partnership. That being said, the food was delicious. The shrimp taco (St Augustine?) was absolutely spot on. The taste of the fried shrimp carried itself through every bite. The steak taco (San Diego?) was ok, but needed something. The steak was a little over cooked which left the meat less flavorful and a bit chewy. Overall the food was definitely worth trying and I could see eating here again. read more

One of my favs - frequent sometimes 3x's a week. Today-was handed my 2 fish tacos and said to the guy "where's the cabbage" and he said "it's on the bottom." That's weird cuz it's never been under the fish. I could put both tacos into 1 and still had room which is not what I'm used too. The server also said "it just depends on who's making them and cutting the fish." What you aren't expected to have the same taco every order???? Super cool place with super cool people. Love the colors and the unique style. The place is tiny but theres a lot of space to sit outside. It was hot so we ate in the car! Highly recommend their slushy, has that shaved ice texture that hits so great. Delicious. The food was good too, really good mix of toppings. Came here with a local friend to check out this taco stand. The place is very laid back. There's a small parking lot and outdoor patio seating. It's located next door to Old Coast Ales and they share seating, so you can grab a beer while enjoying your tacos. We ordered the carne asada, carnitas and Baja fish , and tried all 3 house sauce (the Chili Arbol with a little smoky flavor was my favorite). I ordered a few different things to try. The guacamole was chunky and pretty good. The taco is ordered was cold, extremely overcooked and bland. The protein was hard and very very dried out... Even the shells were cold and extremely brittle/ dry. I got traditional style and there were no onions. I definitely wouldn't recommend it if this was how they typically make it. The bowl they completely messed up and have me wrong toppings/ beans. It was also warm cold (more cold) when I took a bite then discovered the beans I don't like. The cashier just offered me a side of beans instead or remaking it when I said I don't like those beans after I waited in line. I waited for the side of beans. Everyone else with me finished eating and I was still waiting for the beans. After around 25 minutes of waiting the bowl was completely cold now and well over 10 people after I notified them got their food that came in line after I notified them. I got back in line then let them know I just wanted a remake instead and gave them the dish as it was cold now/ I don't like the beans they gave me as I ordered the other ones. They said this would be at least 25 minutes. I said okay. I checked the beans to make sure I got the right ones once it came out. I did. Overall a very disappointing experience and service experience. They definitely prioritized a larger party there over everyone else- 5 people with multiple kids.. I should have told them about the taco, but after the experience with the bowl I just left it. The few bites of the bowl I had before leaving as everyone else already ate and I didn't want them waiting long just for me were okay. I'd go again but skip the tacos as that was the worst taco I've ever had. Hopefully service is better next time. A cute little restaurant though. read more

This is a small, walk-up to order restaurant. There are a few picnic tables outside to sit at and even though it's covered, sometimes they are directly in the sun and there weren't any seats left. The service was good - takes about 15 minutes to make your order. You can order ahead online (recommended). The food is 4 stars. The kids liked their tacos and I had crispy tofu (some tofu were over fried and very hard). Turn any taco into a burrito or a bowl. We had chips and salsa while waiting in the small, cramped indoor space. They give you a small salsa container for a big box of chips. Need more salsa? That will be $3. We were there around 5:15pm and it was quite busy/ crowded. Not sure if I'd choose this type of restaurant again since the cost was about the same as a sit-down restaurant. For example, for our family to eat at Prohibition Kitchen (with a cocktail and 1 Diet Coke) it was $88 (includes the 20% tip). Our bill at Osprey (with a Diet Coke only) was $60 (includes 15% tip - I do less % for walk-up food service counters). Prohibition Kitchen had much larger portions. This little taco place is so cute, and the food is delicious! We got six different tacos, and they were all delicious. My favorites were the Mahi Mahi and the grilled shrimp. The best thing about their queso is that it is thick, stays on the chip, and doesn't fall off. The weather was lovely, and we had our puppy, so we sat on the patio. Sure, the place is small, the wait is often long on wknds, and ordering online seven times out of ten doesn't work, and you gotta hope and pray they don't run out of the special, and if you try to call in your order sometimes the phone rings forever so you just have to drive over there, wait in line, order, wait for your food...but dang it is so worth it! Came here based off recommendation from friends who are local and the food was amazing though the counter girls service was complete opposite. Shared it was our first time , she didn't care. I took my wife and sister here and we all got 3 tacos and felt satisfied from eating 3. Only one of us was full at 2.5 tacos. Food came out hot and fast and was delicious! I'd come back for the food because it was delicious and served fast even though it looked like they had a full house of customers. Seating is mainly outside on the patio , so prepare clothes according to the weather. Though their is a countertop that can seat people inside , but it'll feel crammed. It's a cool setup because if you like to drink beer, their is a brewery next door you can order your tacos and have them delivered there too. We are not local but we visit St. Augustine often (several times a year). Our first time visiting was over the Christmas holidays and we did a late night visit to the Lighthouse. Nothing was open and Osprey was close and also close to closing. I tried making an online order but my phone service was not working well and prevented me from doing so. I called and asked if I could place a to go order. Having worked in fast food, I always hated it when we got orders close to closing time. I told them I understood if they could not, but they were super accommodating and nice about me placing my order. I was super happy with the pleasant attitude and the food was superb once we got back to our room to enjoy. Everyone loved their tacos and we wish we had one close to us. I prefer it over Torchys, Tijuana Flats, Casita Taqueria, etc. I usually get the St. Augustine taco and then try new ones. We have done a burrito also and it is also fantastic. We went last week when it was cold and it was again very good. A little too cold to sit outside, but we managed because we really wanted some good food. We also went to the arcade across the street and make a great day out of our visit. Highly recommend Osprey Tacos. read more

Very good tacos in a really cool retro setting--I think the building was originally the front office of a motel perhaps? Very populuxe mid-century modern. Not much room inside, but pretty ample seating outdoors. Lots of different taco options--I had the St. Augustine Shrimp ones. Service is prompt, tacos come out quickly. About the only bad thing to say is the lack of parking--small lot and the rear entry to the lot is (or was when I visited) a muddy mess of rainwater and dirt, too. There is street parking however in the residential neighborhood behind Osprey--a quick hop, skip, and jump to get your tacos. The taco competition in the area is stiff, but I think Osprey is in the end the real winner if there is one and in any case, very worth checking out yourself! read more

On our last full day in Saint Augustine we finally made it to Osprey Tacos. I am so sorry we waited! Our tacos were fantastic. I ordered a shrimp taco and Tom ordered what was called a Cubano taco...I don't remember what meats were in it. We both absolutely loved our tacos. The shrimp in my taco were nicely spiced and tasted incredibly fresh and delicious. The flavors were deliciously balanced and each mouthful was in turn...salty, sweet, spicy, crunchy..and amazing. This is a small place...you order inside and either take your tacos to go or sit at one of the picnic-style tables outside under an awning and someone will bring your food out to you. We sat at one of the tables on what was another gorgeous St. Augustine day. It was impossible for us to eat inside anywhere unless we had to. If I lived nearby, I would be here regularly. The prices are reasonable. They have water, soda and beer...maybe other things too but this is what I remember. You can also get chips with salsa and/or guacamole. We didn't try it but I saw another person eating chips and guac and it looked good. The service is fast and friendly.
