I spent a week in Lockhart and checked out Lockhart Steak and Seafood for lunch. This spacious restaurant, if the name doesn't give it away, has a large menu with a lot of seafood offerings. They have a large parking lot so parking won't be an issue. It's a casual restaurant with a lot of booths. Service was friendly. I went with the stuffed crab which comes with your choice of two sides. I chose corn on the cob and fries. Our waitress asked which sauce I wanted with my crab and I went with all of the above so she brought me a sweet sauce I didn't like very much and your typical tartar sauce. Crab is one of my favorite types of seafood and the stuffed crab didn't disappoint. You get three of these bad boys. Served in a hard shell and an edible crust, scoop out the good stuff. While the fries were good, it was a small portion for fries and the corn on the cob was a small portion as well. Not a generous portion when it comes to the sides. I also got a chicken fried steak sandwich with fries with white gravy to-go. All-in-all, a decent meal where you have a lot to choose from, especially when it comes to seafood. read more

I ordered their shrimp fried rice and 3 pieces catfish lunch special. I can't believe the amount of the food I got. I especially love the shrimp fried rice. It comes with 5 jumbo shrimps. We have eaten at this restaurant about six times over the years. Couldn't wait to go back. Their cole slaw was always so wonderful, my husband would get a double order. Boy, has that changed. It tasted like the used the inside core of the cabbage only. It was horrible. We both sent it back. Our fried catfish, shrimp and French fries were excellent. My fried oysters were tiny and not with the money. Our waitress informed us that they had new owners since we were there last. Unfortunate. I haven't been to this restaurant since it's grand opening. I will never go there again. I had the red snapper with 3 shrimp and side salad and coleslaw. The red snapper was actually catfish. For real. I know the difference between snapper and catfish but apparently the cook thought I didn't. The salad was tinged in brown lettuce-very un appetizing. Coleslaw was downright weird with soupy consistency and brownish cabbage. My son had a Sirloin with baked potato and French fries. He had to saw it with the knife it was so stringy and chewy. He wouldn't even touch the French fires. I think the baked potato was ok. Huge disappointment and a bigger waste of money. The only nice thing there was the tall waiter guy with glasses. Overall experience was good! Food was really tasty, and we tried 2 appetizers and 5 different plates of seafood, and the portions were all well sized. Mexican style shrimp cocktail, and calamari were tasty. The combination grilled & fried seafood plates we're on point, the stuffed crabcakes were delicious, fried rice good also, and the pork chops yummy! Friendliest waitress, and love that they're hiring young locals at their establishment. We have tried most every restaurant in Lockhart at one time or another; Guadalajara, Smitys, and Loop and Lils are our go to spots. In an effort to try something new we went to Lockhart Steak and Seafood today. The food was great, service was polite and quick, our drinks were never empty. The food took longer than expected but considering how hot and "fresh" everything arrived, the wait was negligible. As far as price, I was surprised at the final cost but it wasn't unreasonable for seafood anywhere, so this place may seem overpriced for Lockhart. Prices beg that this place is mostly suited for dinner, so we will definitely be back!! read more

While visiting my brother-in-law and his family we decided to try a new place for lunch. We were not disappointed. Clean, bright and open...we were promptly seated and drink orders taken. For appetizers we had fried pickles and calamari. I'm not a fan of either but omg the fried pickles....sooooo good. The food ordered ranged from fried chicken sandwich, hamburgers, fried rice, bacon wrapped shrimp, coleslaw and the fries. I could write a whole review on the fries. Last night was our third time at Lockhart Steak and Seafood and I think we have found our new go-to restaurant for good quality food. While the ambiance is not fancy, the restaurant is clean and well taken care of. The waitstaff is attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, and was quick to answer our questions. We have tried a number of dishes and each one has been very good. Last night I was fortunate to order from the kids menu and got the fish and shrimp with fries. I added a side salad to round out the meal. The salad came out first and was crisp, fresh, and hand torn. There were grape tomatoes, carrots and cucumbers too and the dressing came on the side. It was great. When our meals came, my catfish was hot, lightly breaded in seasoned cornmeal, and piping hot. Probably the best catfish I have had in a while. The shrimp was hand breaded and wonderful too. My husband had the Mexican shrimp cocktail and said it was also wonderful. Full of fresh shrimp, avocado, veggies, and a spicy tomato sauce. Been here at least 8-10 times at this point. And I'm sure I'll be back since it's the only seafood game in town (hoping that changes), this is opportunity for some feedback. Usually I order out. For takeout lunch I give the place 3.5 stars. A step above Long John Silvers, but a bit expensive for what you get. I sat in today to eat raw oysters for lunch. Everything that could be screwed up was screwed up. To start with I order water no ice. It didn't have ice, but boy was it cold. This isn't a huge complaint, a lot of places screw this up, but just putting it out there. When I say no ice, this means room temp. I order raw oysters. First observation, the price for just 12 was silly, $16. It's a seafood joint but they price oysters like an appetizer only, not people like myself who want to sit down and go to town. I proceeded anyway. I ordered lemon slices with the oysters. This is standard. I didn't get very many. But worse, they weren't wedges. They were these thinly sliced things clearly pre-cut for people's drinks. How am I supposed to squeeze this? I tried to use the slices I got, but it was a messy affair that resulted in little juice. Do the people at this joint actually eat oysters? Cause this isn't how its done. The oysters themselves tasted old. Not very good. Edible with heavy amount of horseradish, but had they been even just decent I'd have gotten 48 instead of 12. Not sure what else to add here. If you eat oysters you know what I'm talking about, they were off. They should be kept alive until being served. I ordered onion rings as well. They didn't have any special sauce, and I'm not a fan of ranch or ketchup with rings, so asked for mustard. I get a basket of rings with no space and 4 packets of mustard. Seriously? Even after breaking packets where do I squeeze it? Onto the table? I wait around till waitress comes back, ask for a small plate. She brings me a huge soup bowl. Several minutes of fooling with packets later I've got some mustard to work with. Hands dirty now of course in the process. The mustard lasted for 3 onion rings, now I'm out. The onion rings themselves were no good either. The batter was super thin and without flavor. Tasted like eating an overcooked slimy onion. In addition to all this, something about the building the restaurant is in blocks cell signals. Probably a metal building. And they haven't bothered to spend a couple bucks and have a signal repeater installed. This is a small gripe, but it's a gripe. I came in wanting to chill, read the news, eat some oysters. Prices are moderate/high for the quality of food served. My wife and I shared the 6 piece jumbo shrimp cocktail. You could clearly tell I'd had been prepped and refrigerated uncovered for multiple hours (if not days) due to the rubbery consistency and not being deveined properly (shrimp poo had to be scraped out). My wife and I both ordered the "Grilled Red Snapper", I with 3 grilled shrimp. My wife ordered the mashed potatoes and vegetables, potatoes were inedible and slathered in gravy, the vegatables were bathed in butter, edible. I chose the Cajun rice and coleslaw as my sides. The Cajun rice had no kick, spice other than the starchy flavor of rice. The coleslaw tasted like mayo, unpalatable. The Red Snapper and shrimp had never seen a "Grill". They were cooked in enough oily butter sauce they were saturated with it. Grilled and cooked on a flat-top are two very different things. To be noted, a number of staff members I recognized from the failed and closed Huddle House. Might return in the future if they make some improvements. Right now, Long John Silvers or Sirloin Stockade would be a much better option. Just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth. P.S. - Please train your servers on how to be servers. read more

Was hungry so I ordered the double bacon hamburger expecting thin patties but was surprised when my order arrived with two large patties. Thought I would be disappointed with the small packages of mustard and mayonnaise but the meat was perfectly seasoned and needed nothing else. The hamburger bun was delicious especially the bottom bun that soaked up all the juices. The lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles were all fresh and crisp. The French fries were also cooked perfectly, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Definitely would stop again in the area and only change I would make would be ordering a single hamburger instead of the double. read more

Hubby and I met up with his sister for lunch, we ate at restaurant by same name MANY times when we lived in Brenham and sweet waitress said that yes, brothers owned them. Hubby got the burger and fries, he LOVES their burgers and she and I both got 3 piece catfish w/ fries and salad. She got honey mustard and I got blue cheese. Yummm to salads and our dressing choices. Ordered boudin balls for an app and very good. Fries were tasty and plentiful..catfish was plentiful but lacked seasoning and so was like eating fried wood planks..so disappointing. But I brought mine home along with a pile of fries. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and proffesionalism. I was sceptical because of the name but it is on point. There proportions are just right. Their food was cooked to perfectly.
