Egg Salad Tartine - my favorite of the tartines I've tried!
    Raisa Z.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute eating area outside! It was perfect for us because the outside area is dog friendly and my cousin's Samoyed was able to enjoy the afternoon with us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are fans outside and they even brought out a bowl of water for him to help him stay cool![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got three different tartines: chicken salad tartine, prosciutto and mozzarella tartine, and egg salad tartine. I thought the first two were okay but my favorite was the egg salad tartine. I also added a side of kettle chips and an orange juice which were great additions to the meal.

Thursday 5:30pm arrival with my partner in crime. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were sat in the secret back garden, which is an absolutely beautiful space with overhead trellises covered in grape vines![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waitress attended to us quickly and efficiently (we were the only folks in the garden at the time!). We ordered cold herbal tea, a meat and cheese board (1/2 off for happy hour 4-7pm!!!), and the sushi grade seared tuna entree. The meet and cheese boards came quickly and were HUGE. Way more than the two of us could eat, but had a ton of variety and were accompanied by jam, pickles, mustard, candied nuts, olives and fresh baked bread. Honestly could have made a meal of this alone! The tuna came shortly after, and was seasoned perfectly! There were some areas of the filet that were quite chewy and stringy... not sure if this was just the cut of fish, or if the preparation could have fixed this. The vegetables on the side were a bit underwhelming, but they paired decently with the tuna. We left full and happy, and I look forward to returning to try their meatloaf and open faced sandwiches! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Really lovely San Marcos spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Ravioli, French Dip and Peach Daiquiri
    Riley M.

Great lunch spot! We ordered the french dip and the ravioli and enjoyed every bit of it. The food came out pretty quickly and everything tasted fresh. Ashlyn took care of us and was so kind and attentive. Probably wouldn't order the peach daiquiri again, tasted more like a classic margarita.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]First the vibe of the place was like a country cafe in France or Italy. Not swanky, simple. Very cool and loved the art on the walls.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was just as delightful. We visited for Easter brunch. We began with tabouli and hummus appetizers and enjoyed both the traditional and smoked salmon Eggs Benedict. Eggs were cooked to perfection and the silky hollandaise were flavorful. We toasted with the pomegranate mimosas. Everything was perfectly balanced and the service was friendly and attentive. It was a very pleasant experience and we look forward to going back to explore the rest if the menu. Such a great surprise in the heart of San Marcos, Tx.

Good was amazingly fresh! They nailed the hollandaise sauce! Eggs were poached perfectly, and the fresh dressing was unbelievable!

Butter and jams for the bread

Had such a nice experience at Blue Dahlia! We stopped here after floating the river. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat in the outdoor area which is was really neat because it's covered in grapevines.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waitress was also very kind and patient with our questions. I had the savory crepes and they were perfect! The bread with butter and jam was so tasty, I regretted not buying bread to-go. I did get a latte to-go and it was phenomenal. Will be back when I'm in the area again!

    Blue Dahlia Brie Tartine
    Andrea G.

Ordered the Brie Tartine since it's the big talk on Yelp. It was good, but I feel like it has great potential if the bread was toasted. The ingredients are a great combination, it just needed that little crunch to compliment the soft cheese and honey. Nonetheless, my dish looked like the best one in my table...

Came here for lunch and seated quickly. The server was friendly and was happy to answer questions about the menu. I ordered the fresh mint lemonade which was refreshing and had the right amount of sweetness. For lunch, I ordered the Parisian sandwich that included ham, and Havarti cheese and came with a side of gherkins. The sandwich was flavorful but would have preferred it served on a softer baguette. The gherkins were also yummy. And the place itself has a relaxed, welcoming vibe.

Very good food! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also I loved the art everywhere and it was super reasonably priced art.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If I had more money I would buy some of it. The food was a little pricey but very good quality and well balanced and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the garden was beautiful[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the matcha was really nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service was only a little slow but it was nice because it gave us the opportunity to enjoy the environment for a little longer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

SAN MARCOS, TX: Blue Dahlia Bistro is a European style restaurant with a beautiful menu using fresh ingredients. They care about the community and everything they do is intentionally done to protect the planet. Their outdoor patio is dog friendly and fully covered by the roof and faces downtown square! Outdoor heaters are placed to keep you warm on chilly days. We went for breakfast and enjoyed the vegetable frittata and hummus tartine! Their menu is eclectic and unique and items are marked if they can be made vegan or gluten free. They also have plant-based milk options. Open for breakfast and lunch everyday! They also serve dinner on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday!

Eggs Benedict with Ham & Vegetarian Eggs Benedict (Brunch Menu-Only on Saturday & Sunday)
    Michelle C.

Food (4/5): We ordered off of the brunch menu that's only on Saturday and Sunday's. I ordered the vegetarian egg Benedict and a hot matcha latte. The vegetarian egg Benedict was good. The matcha latte was very aesthetically pleasing and very sweet. The food overall was good, but nothing unique about it. Service (5/5): Our server was nice and everything came out in an appropriate amount of time. Ambiance (5/5): Cute, semi-small, dainty restaurant. Came here to meet up with old friend that I haven't seen in years. He really liked the atmosphere.

The meat is seasoned and hits the spot every time - it doesn't matter what meat you get because it is all great! Tons of variation on their menu. I get the bowls with rice and lettuce a plus every topping under the sun and garlic/harissa sauce. Chicken is great, beef is great, and I could eat their falafel all day. I love getting the bowls with their various pickled veggies for the contrast in tastes. Dolma is delicious, the kebabs are delicious, the fries loaded with deliciousness are in fact delicious, and the prices for all dishes are very reasonable. Food can take a little longer, but only because the food is cooked fresh to order and not sitting in a metal container overcooking. Their pitas are stuffed to a brim with toppings and meat, and I could eat their hummus all day every day. Every time we come to San Marcos I have to try to force myself to try something new - it's hard, but we always find ourselves back at Halal Project happily full every time.

The veggies were, as always, beautiful and fresh. Halfway through I did remark to Mr R that Halal Project definitely has more flavor than Taziki, and he agreed. It did take a little longer than expected (mostly noticeable bc it's a day we had a plane to catch) but not outrageous and the results were indisputably worth it. Love to whoever wrapped these gyros sturdily enough to make eating them in the car NOT a complete disaster; we will continue to enjoy this local delight.

Beware of the "5 Star" Reviews…read more Offering free drinks/apps in exchange. I do want to point out that I never submit reviews. Went in and sat down quick, yet the food took over an hour. We sat, ordered drinks along with the food when we got there. After we realized the people around us that arrived significantly later were already paying to leave, we got up to ask about our food as it had easily been 40 minutes. Got told it would be a couple of minutes, gave us waters. Mind you, we are now over an hour into waiting. Food started to roll out and we kept getting offered free chips in the meantime- sorry but this solves the situation how? We are now going to be full of chips and not food. 2 of the meals still took an extra 20 min after the majority rolled out and of course, my parents' food came out COLD. What were we waiting for on this exactly? A lady, who I am assuming is the manager, came to apologize, told us she would remove the 2 items from the ticket. We were understanding. However, she then admitted they dropped the ball- this is where this place really lost us. She stated that they tried to reheat the plates and just pass it as "fresh." Thank you for finally being honest but this truly just gave me a bad image of management. I felt like they just threw the team under the bus. We asked for the check and when we asked if she did comp the 2 plates, she gave an attitude responding, "I did, I fixed it" and then proceeded to send someone else to check us out. That is not how you manage or take ownership. As a manager myself, you take care of the person full on through to try and turn the situation around. Had she done that or had the staff communicated that they messed up when we had initially asked, we would've been completely fine instead all that happened here. We were in there for about 2.5 hours. Unfortunately left disappointed due to the good reviews we initially saw.
