Pre-Covid, I was introduced to this amazing small biz through wellness services for endurance running. I was grateful for all the extensions and small acts that were exceptional through Covid. As things lifted I was looking for a 24/7 gym and toured others but already knew Grit was clean, great vibe and was worthy of my support. A year later, I'm still immensely grateful for a biz like this. I take advantage of their wellness services, special workshops but always do my heavy lifting here. What a cute little wellness spa/studio! Since Covid and shutdowns we have been dying for a visit to a sauna. Along my search we found an open Infrared Sauna and Grit City and decided to make an appointment. First of all, I had no idea this little area in Tacoma existed, such a cute "community", will definitely plan for a longer trip to explore the stores and such next time. Back to Grit City... super friendly and knowledgeable staff. We were greeted and offered with a tour of their facilities. Everything was super clean, well organized, and a nice vibe. Yoga and Gym studio areas are shutdown currently but both clean and look fantastic. The sauna was fantastic, reserved for 2 and was concerned it would be cramped, but it is the perfect size for 2. We will definitely be back, maybe to try Cyro before sauna :). read more

Grit City Wellness can be summed up in one word: amazing! They are a one-stop-shop for anything health/wellness/recovery related, which I love. I appreciate that they offer an alternative to western medicine. I personally have enjoyed their CBD products, whole body cryo, meditation pod and yoga classes. Note: This is a review for the gym side (NW247). I haven't used the "other side" of the facility with all the fancy stuff. I have been going to this gym for a long time. I stuck through the awful changes that were made when the old owner(s) didn't really care (think breaking equipment, treadmills that made you go deaf, dust bunnies that lingered for weeks) and was delighted when Grit City took over. The new owner (Chyna) has made wonderful improvements and made this gym my happy place again! Although the gym is half the size it used to be, all the equipment is new, the place is clean, and also eco-friendly (think washable towels instead of paper towels). Chyna is very receptive and easy to get in touch with, unlike the previous owners who never replied to emails or answered their phones. I would recommend this gym to anyone who likes to work out at odd hours (they are still open 24/7) and enjoys a quiet sanctuary to get their sweat on. read more

WOW! I am so blown away by this place. I was able to get a full tour of the facility and decided I needed to try it all. There is NOWHERE else like this. Meditation pod- I just wanted to sit in here and try it out, because it looks like something from space. I have a really hard time meditating and I wasn't even trying to get into it. I did the guided love meditation and within just a few minutes my body felt like it was floating, I was so at peace and blissed out that I didn't even realize the voice had stopped in the meditation. I didn't fall asleep, but my brain was so 100% checked out that when the chimes came on to tell me it was over I literally forgot where I was and what was going on I stepped out feeling so totally zen and like I'd just gotten 10 hours of sleep. Compression therapy- I'd totally overdone myself in a workout a few days before and my tendinitis flared up. The compression was so soothing, and when I got up I felt like I had brand new legs. Later in the evening when I was out with friends I got up and realized my feet were totally feeling back to normal and my tendinitis pain was practically gone! Mind blown. Finally, CRYOTHERAPY! This particular unit is the only one of its kind in the entire state!!! I've always wanted to try it but I was so scared I wouldn't be able to handle it. Let me tell you- it's totally bearable. I blissed out listening to music took some deep breaths, when I stepped out I felt instantly warm, energized, focused, SO READY to take on the day. Whole new person. I've struggled with chronic pain and health problems over the years and I can truly tell you there is something for everyone here. The staff is SO KNOWLEDGEABLE and KIND, I can tell the owner Chyna is endlessly dedicated to every single tiny detail. It feels like family there. Do you body a favor and get over to Grit City, you'll be sold your first visit and will want to come back every single day. read more

I saw Courtney Latcher for a cupping session and OMG please hold onto her forever! She was an absolute angel! She was so nice and the cupping has helped my back and shoulder pain so much! Let's start with how beautiful the new owner has made this space. The original owners basically threw some equipment into a shabby room and called it a gym. It's now transformed. The lobby space is pure serenity, the yoga studio is bliss, and the gym is always super clean with all the up-to-date equipment I need. This is a place that focuses on both physical and emotional health. It's hard to believe there's finally a place in Tacoma that offers such an incredible selection of wellness and recovery services and products. I've loved testing their kombucha on tap, experimenting with the CBD products and trying out compression therapy. I plan to test out the cryotherapy chamber and infrared sauna soon too. read more

This place is amazing. The gym equipment is brand new. There are mirrors along every wall. The gym owner is very progressive and intelligent when it comes to fitness and wellness. The staff is also friendly and very knowledgeable. They have something for everyone, group fitness classes, personal training, yoga, cardio equipment, weights, and endless services such as cryotherapy. This gym is the only one south of Seattle that offers this service. I highly recommend this gym. Even though it's small is 10 times better then any gym in north Tacoma to include the bigger gyms like YMCA and LA fitness. read more
