cute place! it is small but has a homey feel while not feeling cramped. service is great. the meals all have large portions! the french toast was excellent. my boyfriend got the patty melt which was way too salty and the fries were soggy and not hot. the sandwich was also too greasy and fell apart. there were some bites including the one I had there I got a mouthful of salt. I wouldn't get the patty melt again. would definitely return to try more of the menu though. read more

Being from the South, I was a bit skeptical about a breakfast place in NJ with Grits in their name. But they were probably the best grits I ever had (maybe other than cheese grits). Service was great and food came out quickly even with every table taken. This restaurant has so much character and charm. read more

This place is an absolute gem. It's small, rustic, but most importantly it's consistent. They use really fresh ingredients in all of their foods and it shows, everything is prepared with love and care. As soon as you walk in the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. The dining area is small and rustic but clean and comfortable. The food is consistently good, I really enjoy their breakfast menu and their lunch sandwiches are especially good. I find myself driving from work about 10 miles away just to get their BLAT sandwich or the open face tuna melt. Don't hesitate to stop at this little roadside gym and a handful of the other shops like the vinyl dinosaur in the area. Bayville is underrated. read more

Seems like you will always have a wait but it was short and so worth it. Noisy, a little frantic but terrific atmosphere. The decor is charming, the servers friendly and the coffee good. My son got the "Build Me Up Buttercup" special - french toast stuffed with peanut butter cup chips, topped with peanut butter, caramel and powdered sugar - and I had the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs. Both came out fast and looked terrific. Mine was perfectly prepared with the hash featuring chunks of potatoes, peppers and onions. My son's looked and smelled delicious (too sweet for my taste). Both tasted great. Definitely will be back to try one of the 20 other things i saw on the deep menu that I wanted. Kudos to the owners. This place is a winner! read more

This is the second café by C & G's Country Cafes; the first being off Route 37 in Toms River, next to the K Mart. This one on Atlantic City Boulevard in Berkeley Township, is smaller than the other, but still with a warm, friendly atmosphere, and very competent breakfast kitchen. They do great things with eggs. I stopped in after court earlier this week and sat at the counter they often use for preparation. They moved things out of the way so I could sit comfortably with room for a coffee mug and large plate. The folks working there were friendly and enjoyed their comradery. The menu had plenty of options, and I went with the Mr. Potato Head Omelet, a 3-egger loaded with crisp bacon, cherry peppers, scallion, potato and hot pepper jack cheese. In addition, half the plate was full of home fries, in case the stuffed omelet was not enough root veggies for me. It was a lot to handle, but I managed to scarf it all down, because of its great taste. It was a textural delight, and the rye toast provided a bit of buttered savory to the excellent mix of ingredients. The java was also hot and well caffeinated for impact on the long drive back to the Capital City. All in all, a strong breakfast, and a worthy competitor to all the other morning houses in and about this near the ocean burg. Nothing wrong with waking up early in the morning to break your fast here. read more

It's always clean and welcoming. One of my favorite items on the menu is the Revenge Salad. It's a simple Caesar salad with Buffalo chicken on top. I find myself craving this salad. It's addicting and I often find myself planning my day around their 2:00 close time so I can get my fix. Whatever you get, you can bet it will be delicious. Was in the area for the weekend with my wife, and we absolutely love this place. We arrived and we're greeted by a very friendly hostess. She sat us outside quickly, and made sure in the sunny spot. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and made us feel welcomed. We got pumpkin cream cold brew since it was autumn and crisp out. It was not overly sweet and was a great pick me up. I got the hound dog french toast and it was delicious. Had a ton of peanut butter with a good amount of crispy bacon and bananas. Every time I order here the order is wrong and they are never willing to make it right blueberry pancakes came as regular pancakes w blueberries on top when I called to ask what happened they said there's blueberries in there right yeah but fresh not in the pancake they said tough luck and I e had things like this happen at least 6-7 times and they essentially put it on me like when they missed a whole meal and then they say oh we didn't know yet they read the order back to me good food horrible service not worth spending your money there go to Tom's river and hit c&gs the sisters spot is much better and more professional read more
